So what does financial breakthrough actually mean? I know for someone like me, from a ministry or church or faith background, a lot of times the mindset around financial breakthrough is all about, well, I'm just going to pray harder, I'm going to fast, we're going to cry out to God and he's going to put it on some rich person's heart to give me a whole bunch of money or someone's going to give me an offering. I'm just, if I just sit here and do my job of praying, God's just going to hand it over to me. I submit to you. That's not how financial breakthrough works at all. In fact, in today's 15 minute mentor, I bring you on one of my drives. We're going to be discussing this and more. Well, guys, let's talk about financial breakthrough. It's so interesting, like I just mentioned, somebody coming from a ministry of faith background. For years, maybe like you, but for years, me and my family, me and my wife, for a long time, our idea of financial breakthrough is just, you gotta pray harder, maybe throw in a little fasting. And if you just pray hard, if you fast long enough, somehow God's gonna hear you and he's gonna poof a whole bunch of money into your bank account. And for years, this was our philosophy. We were under the idea of like, man, we just need another miracle. We need another miracle. We need another miracle. And the interesting thing is this, when you need to live off of miracles, how can you become the miracle for someone else when you're the one who always needs a miracle? And it wasn't until my wife and I started asking ourselves this question. How can we go from needing the miracle to becoming the miracle? That's when everything changed for us. You see, here's the punchline, okay? I know a lot of times in church and faith backgrounds we're taught to like, you know, just believe God and he's gonna do it all. That's not how it works, man. Right? Like, I know for me as a father, maybe you're watching this and you, maybe you're a parent, maybe you're a grandpar. For me, I'm not just going to do every single thing for my kids. I love serving my kids. I love giving them good gifts. I serve them all the time. I give them good gifts all the time. However, it's not good for my children if they don't know how to tie their own shoe. It's not good for my children if they don't know how to get their own glass of water. It's not good for my children to not know how to like, I mean, think about it like my 3 year old, when they got hungry, they could literally open up the pantry and, you know, grab a snack out of the pantry, right? Like, so the idea of like God, you know, please do every single thing for me. I'm just going to pray. My job is to pray. God's job is to do. That's not how this works. Okay? Our job, yes, is to pray. But remember this, faith without works, faith without action is dead. So it's all good that you sit there and pray and pray and pray, but if you don't take action, your faith is dead. Okay, so what is the action that we need to take in order to unlock financial breakthrough? Well, here's the thing, okay? I don't know about you, but I am a big fan of Daniel in the Bible, okay? The book of Daniel. The Bible says that Daniel and his friends were found 10 times better than any other of the astrologers, the magicians, you know, all the other advisors to the king. Daniel and his friends were found 10 times better. How were they found 10 times better? Because number one Daniel, chapter one, verse eight, the Bible says that Daniel and his friends chose to not defile themselves. Okay? So obviously it begins in the character Right. I will not defile myself. And because I walk upright in my character, that's what qualifies me on phase one, to actually do amazing things that are 10 times better than any random person out there, especially when it comes to your finances. But Daniel, chapter one, verse eight, Daniel, his friends chose to not defile themselves. Okay? Then the next part says, and they were found 10 times better. That's awesome. Okay? But the following section literally says, and Daniel and his friends, they studied wisdom, mathematics, science, geography, like they studied to show themselves approved. Why am I saying this? Because here's the punchline, okay? It's not enough to have character without competence. If you have character without competence, that's awesome. But you're not a Daniel. If you have competence without character, that's cool. You have the ability, but you don't have, like, the right character and integrity. If you have competence without character, you're not a Daniel. So how are we going to unlock this 10 times better thing? We must have character and competence. It's not enough just to pray and ask God, lord, please poof some more into my bank account. Please put it on some rich person's heart to give me some money so I can have a financial breakthrough. That's not enough. Okay. That's not God's ways. God's ways are you gotta pray, you gotta ask, but then you've got to go do. You've got to go study. And what are we going to study? We are going to study things like financial, financial literacy, okay? We're going to study things like business. We're going to study things like sales. We're going to study things like credit, okay? We're going to study things that actually contribute to our finances growing. Because if you don't. And all you ever do is live on a prayer, right? There was a song about that before, I believe. Whoa. Living on a prayer. That's what most believers do. They just live on a prayer and they think prayer is enough. Prayer is just the beginning. Prayer is, is the key that unlocks the door. But what gives you access to the room is to begin to grow your competency. Because here's a punchline. You're never going to be a millionaire until you first become a millionaire level person in your mindset, right? In your expectation, in your competency and in your actions. You don't just become a millionaire by God poofing all this money into your account. You must become the person first. First add to your character competence. And here's the thing, like, it's not just about financial literacy alone, like, there's a big difference between being literate and being fluent. What does that mean? Well, here's the thing. In high school, I took Spanish, maybe like you did in high school. I actually took a couple of years of Japanese. And there are certain parts of the Spanish or Japanese language that I have a little bit of literacy about, right? I can kind of connect the dots a little bit, but I'm not fluent, right? Like I can't walk up to somebody and just start speaking full blown Japanese to them. Right? So what does this mean? It means the same thing goes for your financial competency, okay? It's one thing to know about taxes, know about credit, know about stocks and bonds and dividends. It's a different reality though, to actually have fluency in the language, right? Not just like, I'm kind of. I'm kind of, you know, aware. No, no, we don't want just literacy only. We want fluency. We want to be able to speak the language. Think about it. How are you going to win at a game that you don't even know how to play? It's not just like, God, please, poof, more money to my account, please. Amen. Poof. That's not how this works, man. Right. Like I submit to you that wisdom is better than miracles. Ecclesiastes, chapter 10, verse 10 says that where the ax is dull, it's harder to chop down the tree. But the next part of the verse says, but wisdom. And other versions say, skill brings great success. Think about that. Why is it so hard right now for you to chop down the tree when it comes to financial breakthrough? Because maybe your ax is dull, right? Like, maybe you're not sharp enough in financial literacy and financial fluency. Maybe you don't understand the tax game. Maybe you don't understand the difference between good debt and bad debt. And yes, there is a difference. Difference, right. Maybe you don't understand the money game and that's how come you keep losing the money game. You cannot win a game that you don't know how to play. So in order for you to not just unlock financial breakthrough, but to walk in financial breakthrough, there's got to be a difference in our expectation and in what we pursue. It can't just be prayer alone. Oh God, please send another miracle, right? Because wisdom is better than miracles. So, yes, pray, yes. Cry out. Yes. Ask, seek and knock. Yes, yes, yes. But to your faith, add action. To your faith, ADD works, right? Because if you're not actually pursuing this stuff, all you're ever going to do is find yourself like everyone else out there in the church who are always like, God, give me a breakthrough. God, give me money. Please help God. We need a financial breakthrough. Expecting God to put it on some wealthy person's heart to just give an offering, that's not God's way. Like, you should be the lender, not the borrower in that sense, right? Like, and this is different between good and bad debt. But the point is this. Like, why are you the one always expecting a miracle? You should become the one who can give the miracle, who can become the miracle. That way, you're not always the one needing the miracle. How does this start? You've got to learn the game. You've got to learn how the game works, man. Because if you don't know how the game works, you can't win the game. And the punchline is this. If you don't know how to play the game, then the game is playing you. That's it. Why are your finances struggling right now? Because the game is playing you. Because you're not playing the game. Anyone that I know who actually understands the game of money, who's not just a little bit financially literate, but who actually is financially fluent, who understands these things, okay, they're not being played by the game of money. We are playing the money game. My finances are not struggling because I play the money game. The money game doesn't play me. And I'm not just saying, like, you know, it came by a poof. I pray every single day. I'm actually on my way to prayer right now. I pray. I see, I seek God's face. I study the Bible, right? I ask for. For miracles, but not in the sense of the way that traditional believers would ask for miracles in their finances. I don't just go, God, please, poof the money. I ask for the miracle of God. Help me to become the person that it takes in order to be able to access this, not just once, but over and over and over. I want to walk in this. And I know that the only way that this is going to happen is if I learn the game, if I grow my competency. Yes, it's awesome to not defile yourself. Daniel, chapter one, verse eight. But with that, you must also study to show yourself approved. You must also learn the game of business, learn the game of money, learn the game of finances, learn the game of what new opportunities are available to you in your generation so that you can be like Luke, chapter 16, verse 9, where the children of this world are more wise in their generation than the children of light. How is this? Because many times the children of light think everything is, I just need another miracle. No, you don't. You need wisdom. You need wisdom. You need knowledge, you need understanding. Let me break this down right quick, okay? And then I'm going to wrap this 15 minute mentor here. What is the difference between knowledge, understanding and wisdom? See, most believers, when it comes to their finances, when it comes to most things, most believers park at the zone of knowledge, which is awesome. Knowledge equals information. Okay? Like obviously without knowledge, without the information, it's going to be really hard for you to win. If you don't even know the game exists, how can you play it, let alone win it, right? So knowledge is very, very good. You've got to start growing your knowledge on what opportunities are available to you so that you can start getting ahead in the game of business. Right? So knowledge is information. But what do we need to add to our knowledge? Proverbs chapter four tells us that in all you're getting get wisdom and all you're getting get understanding. So now that we have knowledge, now that we're growing in knowledge, what do we need to do next? We need to grow our understanding. If knowledge is information, then understanding is explanation. Okay. It's one thing to know like, oh, I know the stock market exists, I know taxes exist, I know credit exists, but I don't understand any of them. Exactly. So now that you have knowledge of some of these concepts, when it comes to the financial world, right, what do you need to do next? You need to start understanding how they work. Like I'm telling you this, if you can understand how good credit versus bad credit works, it's going to be game changer. If you can understand how taxes work and why you should be a business owner and not an employee so that way you can be taxed less and keep more of your money. That's going to be a game changer, right? Like there's so many ways to make money in 20, 26 and beyond. And if you don't have the knowledge, and especially if you don't have the understanding, you are going to be left behind. So if knowledge is information and understanding is explanation, then how do we unlock financial breakthroughs so that we don't just live from miracle to miracle to miracle, but we actually walk in financial breakthrough. I'm glad you asked. Okay. Car. I'm glad you asked. Okay. The way that we are going to unlock it, to be able to walk in it is we need to add to our knowledge, to our understanding. We need to add wisdom. Okay? Knowledge is information, understanding is explanation, but wisdom is implementation. Okay? So here's the thing. When you begin to know about the opportunities that are available, awesome. When you begin to understand the opportunities that are available, even better. But when you begin to take that understanding and start taking action towards the information, and you begin to implement what you are learning, and you begin to take action and don't just let your faith be dead, but. But allow your faith to come alive through works, through action. Now you begin to step into and grow into wisdom. And I'm telling you this, wisdom is, it's the principal thing. That's what Proverbs 4 tells us, right? And so when you can begin to grow your knowledge, grow your understanding and grow your wisdom, grow your information, make sure you understand the explanation, and then add implementation. Now you no longer need miracle after miracle after miracle. Now you can become the miracle. And I don't know about you, but it's a lot more fun to be the miracle than to need the miracle, in my opinion. I have been in the place of needing a miracle many, many, many times before I understood what I'm explaining to you today in this 15 minute mentor, right? But now that I understand how to walk in financial breakthrough, now my wife and I get to be the miracle. So here's a punchline, okay? If you have the desire to grow in financial breakthrough and not just go from, oh, God, please help, I need money. And you can actually go, God, please open up my eyes. Who can I become the miracle for? Then here's what I suggest to you. You need to, like Daniel, grow your character and your competency. Not just character alone, not just competency alone. You need to have both, right? You need to have knowledge, understanding and wisdom applied. You need to not just stop expecting God to just poof everything and understand you have to become the person first in order to be qualified to walk in this, okay? Because the punchline is this. You can't distribute something that you've only touched one time. Like if you don't own something, you can't distribute it. If you don't own the financial authority, how are you going to be a distributor of finances, right? If you don't. If you've only touched financial breakthrough once through a miracle, just because I touched it doesn't mean that I own it, right? So here's my suggestion to you. You need to grow your character, your competency. And the way you're going to do this is through, through knowledge, understanding and wisdom. And I'm telling you this.
