How God’s People Can Destroy The Enemy Of Poverty

Rick Pino argues that Christians stay poor because of conflicted beliefs about money and poor stewardship, not God's will. He outlines four steps to break the cycle: fix your beliefs about wealth, learn financial literacy, move from disempowerment to empowerment, and shift from dependency to generosity.

What's up everybody? It's Rick Pino here from Get Wisdom. In today's training, we're going to be talking about why so many of God's people seem to be broke. They seem to be lacking and in scarcity. Well guys, let's talk about how you and your children and your children's children can break free from poverty, from forever and you can begin to step into the abundance that God has called his children to walk in. Okay, so here's what I want to submit to you. Why is it that so many of God's people, they stay broke, they stay in scarcity, they stay in lack. I believe it's because most of God's people are more conflicted about their internal beliefs around what God says about prosperity and abundance and wealth. They're more conflicted about that than they are convicted about what God said about prosperity, abundance and wealth. So my question to you is coming here to my little notepad here. You need to begin to ask yourself this question. Am I, am I conflicted about this wealth thing or am I convicted? Right, so what's the difference here? Well, I think for many, many of us, especially growing up in church, in culture, in society, many of us have been brainwashed to think that, you know, a lot of money makes you greedy. And especially in the church, right? Like, man, if you have a ton of money, you don't have to trust God anymore. So you definitely don't want to have a ton of money. So that way you can always learn to live by faith and trust in God. I'll tell you this right now, nothing could be further from the truth, okay? And here's why. If, if you've never built a business before, only the people that say like, oh, a bunch of money helps you, a bunch of money means that you don't have to trust God anymore. Only the people who say that are broke minded people. I've never met an actual wealthy person who has been entrusted to steward wealth, to be like, oh, yep, God entrusted me with all this wealth and now I don't have to trust him anymore. No wealthy person has ever actually said that before. Only broke minded people, right? And so here's what I want to submit to you. You want to learn how to trust in God, start a business, learn to build a business, learn how to build wealth morally and ethically off of biblical, biblical principles. And watch if you need to trust God or not. I want to submit to you. That takes way more trust than just like, well, we don't know where we're gonna, how we're gonna pay our light bill, so hopefully God's gonna break in for us like friends. I'm telling you, like this whole false mindset around money, around prosperity, around wealth is keeping God's people broke. And this should not be so when it comes to being conflicted or convicted again, I just want to submit to you, okay? Most of God's people, for reason, you know, they're double minded. Remember the Bible told us in the book of James, a double minded man or woman is unstable in all of their ways. Could it be the reason why you are unstable in your wealth journey is maybe you are double minded? What does that mean? That means on one part of the, of the thought process, maybe you believe like, well, we don't want to have a bunch of money because if we do, then we're going to be greedy and we don't have to trust God anymore. And, but on the other hand, on the other part of your thought process, there's this idea of like, well, I do have to pay my bills and I would love to support the kingdom, I would love to build orphanages and rescue children. And I would love to send missionaries to the mission field. I know that takes money. So which one is it, right? Like is money bad or is money good? And this is the point I'm trying to make to you and trying to bring clarity to you on if you are conflicted. Well, I don't know if money's good or bad. It's going to be really, really hard for you to be entrusted a bunch of wealth because you're double minded, you're unstable. Instead, you need to start getting convicted about God called me blessed. God called me to have favor. God called me to be abundant. God called me to be a steward of kingdom wealth and resources. And I believe, because that is the voice, the word, the call of God over my life, that money must mean. It must mean that money is good for me. Because here's the punchline, okay? Money is just simply a tool that takes on the character and the will of the person who has stewardship over it. Okay? Think about that. Like, if you're a wicked person, if you're a greedy person, all that's going to happen whenever you get money is you're going to have your wickedness amplified, your greed is going to be more amplified. But why do God's people need to begin to get convicted around this idea? Because if we are walking in integrity, if we're walking in character, if we are walking with Jesus, right, And we, we understand our kingdom assignment to multiply. It doesn't say to be fruitful and add. It doesn't say to be fruitful and digress and go backwards. It doesn't say, you know, hey, be fruitful but not too fruitful. It's saying, no, no, be fruitful and multiply. When you get convicted like this, you begin to understand, huh? If I'm walking in humility, if I'm walking in good stewardship, if I'm walking in generosity, if I'm walking in boldness, if God were to entrust more money and resources and wealth to me, then all that's going to happen is those characteristics are going to be amplified through my life. So my question to you is, if you were the enemy, would you rather have your people be entrusted with money or God's people be entrusted with money. Well, the answer is obvious. If you're the enemy, you want your people to have money because you're going to have more of your principles amplified. Wickedness, greed, jealousy, perversion, lust, whatever it is, those things are going to be amplified with money. When instead God's people need to Rise up. We need to stop being so religious around the subject of money and wealth and abundance and prosperity. Actually start learning how to become stewards so that God can entrust more to us, so that we can begin to amplify kingdom biblical godly principles like generosity and love and justice into the earth. Right? So whenever you're looking around and you're maybe still a little conflicted about like, well, does God want me to be blessed? I don't know. Like, it's so interesting to me. You walk up to most Christians and you go, hey, do you believe that God wants you to have wisdom? Well, most Christians are going to be like, well, I do. But did you know that In Proverbs chapter 8, verse 18, it says that with wisdom, wisdom has sidekicks, right? Wisdom brings prosperity and abundance and enduring wealth and generational wealth, right? So it's like, well, do you believe God wants you to be wise? I do. Well, do you believe he wants you to be rich and he wants you to have enduring wealth? Well, I don't know. Again, you're too conflicted and you're not convicted enough. Right? So I want to ask you this question again. Come with me here back to the notepad. Okay? So number one, am I conflicted or am I convicted? When it comes to the subject, does God want me to be financially blessed? Now, I know we can overly and super spiritualize everything. Well, it depends, brother. I think he does want us to be spiritually blessed. But, you know, taking the land, it means spiritually. It's not all spiritual. Yes, it is spiritual, but don't try to over spiritualize this. It takes real money to make an impact in the earth. It takes real money to build orphanages. It takes real money to send missionaries overseas. It takes real money to do acts of justice on this planet. And it's not just only going to be, you know, by miracles alone. And even if it was a miracle, like somebody's going to probably give you some miraculous gifts. And I'm telling you this right now, man, God's main will for his people is not just to live off of miracles alone, it's for them to take the land. What do I mean by this? It wasn't God's main will. And I'm gonna get back here to the notepad here in a second. But it wasn't God's main will for his people to just live off of manna. Like, thank God he supplied them with manna. But why did they have to live off manna? Because they were fearful, they were stiff Necked and they refused to learn new skill skills and new stewardships that would allow them to thrive into the promised land. Those new skills, those new stewardships were things like becoming warriors, learning how to slay giants, learning how to take fortified cities, and then after you do this, learning how to set up new economies and to build and to structure society. See, but the problem was this. God brought the people out of Egypt, but the people were unwilling to get Egypt out of them. They still had the slavery mentality. Oh man, I wish we could just go back to Egypt. At least they had leeks and onions there. This man is so tiring. Boo hoo. The reason why you're eating manna is because God will sustain you here. But this is not his best for your life. Those of you guys and gals who are praying for a miracle, those of you guys and gals who are hoping for the next miracle, this is not God's best will for you. You know what's better than a miracle? Wisdom. You know what's better than a miracle? Stewardship. And that's not to say that God doesn't perform miracles. Of course he does. But is it his best and his perfect will for his people? No. Right? Like just to show off. God might do some miraculous things here and there, but I believe, and I am convicted, that God would rather his people rise up in wisdom, rise up in stewardship, right? Get Egyptian thinking out of you so that you can actually learn how to thrive in the land that he promised you. Well, there's a bunch of giants. Like, I'm going to have to learn new skills. This is going to be hard. There's a bunch of fortified cities. What are we going to do? Like it's. It might get tough out there. Good. That's exactly how God intended it for it to be. Because guess what? God always divinely connects your promised land to giants and fortified cities. They're always divinely connected. Your next level is always connected to some kind of giant or fortified city that you have to slay or you have to conquer. Whatever that fear is everything God has for you. It's on the other side of fear. So instead of you trying to think like the old slavery Egyptian mentality, oh man, I wish I could just go back to how it was. You know, we weren't like really thriving, but man, at least the food was a little better. And instead of having that broke and slavery type mentality, you need to rise up like that, Caleb. Like that Joshua who said, man, let's take the land. Caleb. Was 80 years old. Caleb was 80 years old, ready to take his promised land. And no matter if you're young or you're old or your middle age, whatever it is, you should have the mentality of God promised me this land. And I am willing to do whatever it takes to walk and step into obedience. Whether it means I gotta slay giants, I gotta take fortified cities, I gotta learn some new skills, I have to sharpen my ax, I have to, you know, expand my mindset, I have to hire coaches, I need to learn some new things. Because if that's what it means, that it's gonna take that to get me to the promise, then I'm gonna do it. That's the mindset you need to have. Okay? Anyways, back here to the notepad. And I want to submit something to you. And I want you to begin to ask yourself this question when it comes to poverty around the world, okay? And the question is this, okay? Does God desire for his children. To be poor, to be broke, and to be in lack? Is that God's desire for his children? I want you to honestly think about that. Does God desire for his children to be broke, to be poor, to be in lack? Now, I know some people are like, well, brother, you know, most people, you know, they should live, you know, without the money because it helps them trust God. Again, this is just false mentality thinking. And here's why I know this, okay? You might be watching this, this training here, and maybe you're a parent, okay? If you're a parent, okay, maybe you currently are, maybe you're a grandparent, or maybe you have the desire to become a parent. I want to ask you this question, okay? As a parent, do you desire for your kids to be broke, to be poor, to be in lacking? Especially if you have the ability to help them have a better, more prosperous, amazing life? Well, the answer is no. I don't want my children. I have three kids. I'm a proud father, I'm a proud husband, and nothing on the inside of me is like, well, all of my kids, they need to be living in rags. They need to be begging for bread on the streets. Because if they don't do that, then they won't learn how to depend on me as their father. So they need to stay in that place. Like, it's such broke, weird. And I want to even submit to you demonic thinking, this brainwashed thinking of like, oh, poverty's good. God's people should be in poverty. No, they shouldn't. Okay? No, they shouldn't. Recently I made a post online and the post was, it had something to do with like, hey, how much money would make you feel like you were actually rich? I'm not talking about comfortable or like, well all my bills are paid, praise God. I'm talking about like, how much money would it take for you to actually feel abundantly rich, right? And for some reason somebody reached out and they said, well, you know what's really weird about this question is some of these pastors, you know, they have on these $600 Gucci belts and they're driving these hundred thousand dollar cars and, and you know, this isn't right. You know, the people of God should be living below their means and blah, blah, blah. And I said, okay, hold on, hold on. We can't get religious about numbers or like, you know, the brands, like oh, it's a Gucci belt. So you know, shame on him. Like because the punchline is this, okay, everything is relative if you live here in America, okay, Gucci is a really nice brand. Or you know, the hundred thousand dollar car that you drive, that could, that's cool. But you know the same way like a poverty minded, broke, brainwashed Christian could be thinking like, oh, people shouldn't be driving that, especially Christians. They shouldn't be driving a hundred thousand dollar car wearing a $600 belt because they need to be better stewards. And that does, that makes, that makes them not have to trust in God anymore. The same mentality could go for somebody who lives overseas, okay? And somebody who lives overseas and they're like, oh my gosh, this person bought a twenty dollar belt from Walmart. Oh my gosh, they're like spl. They should be better stewards. And them buying that $20 belt from Walmart makes them not trusting God. It's like, what? Oh man, they have a, they actually have a Honda Civic. Oh my goodness. Their $20,000 Honda Civic, that's like splurging like friends. It's not. We get so caught up and so religious about the, the little things about like the brand or the actual number. It's not about the brand or the number. Everything. When it comes to prosperity and abundance and wealth, it's posture. It's not about buying all this junk so we can flex on people. It's about learning how to be stewards. And the punchline is this one of the reasons why most of God's people stay broke, they stay in scarcity, they stay lacking is because it doesn't matter if you do the right thing with 10% of your money. But the wrong thing with 90% of your money. If you do the right thing with 10% of your money and the wrong thing with 90% of your of your money, you're just going to be a broke tither. That's it. You're just going to be a broke tither, okay? Like, you cannot tithe your way out of terrible financial stewardship. God wants us to learn how to be faithful over the little so that he can then entrust us with more. So we've got to get our mindset right around this, guys. It's not about getting religious around like the brand or the number. Like, I can't believe they have a, a $500,000 house. I can't believe they have a million dollar house. It's all those numbers are relative because wherever you live, even if you're like, well, I just live in a small one bedroom apartment and my rent is 750 bucks a month or whatever, like that could be splurging to somebody overseas. It's. We need to get unreligious about the actual numbers and the brands and what it actually means to be wealthy or not. We need to get unreligious about this and we need to be convicted, not conflicted around God's purpose, God's desire, God's plan for us to live and walk in abundance and blessing in prosperity. Okay, so that is the question. Does God desire. One more time here on the, the, the notepad here. Does God desire for his children to be poor, to be broke and to be lacking? Probably not. In fact, 100% not. Because as a parent, okay, we don't want that for our children. And I want to submit this idea to you, okay? Poverty isn't a reflection. I wrote this note down here for you. Poverty isn't a reflection of the intent of the maker, okay? Because everything that God created, he blessed and he called good, right? If God created it and he made it, he said, man, this is good, this is good, this is good. So poverty isn't a reflection of the maker. Poverty is a reflection of, of the intent of the manager, me and you. Why is there poverty in the world right now? Because it's bad stewardship. It's completely demonic. Especially for the people of God. We should not be living in lack and being the tail, right? We should be the head. We should not be the ones who are like always trying to borrow so that we can hopefully just pay our bills. We need to learn how to become stewards so that we can become the lender and not just the borrower. Do you see what I'm saying here? So poverty is in a reflection of the intent of the maker. It's a reflection of the intent of the manager. In fact, poverty is a direct sign of man's mismanagement, either through neglect or ignorance, you know, and ignorance is. They just don't know. Man just doesn't know how sometime to. To be a good steward, right? So poverty is a direct sign of man's mismanagement, either through neglect or ignorance or willingly walking in wickedness. Okay, so I want to submit this idea to you. Nothing good ever comes from poverty. Ever. Nothing good comes from poverty. Don't be religious around like, well, people who live in poverty, they trust God more. That is, that is such a religious mindset when it comes to the stewardship of wealth. Every time you go to a city, right, and you go to the quote unquote bad part of town that is stricken with poverty, guess what? There's always more crime, there's always more drugs, there's always more sexual immorality, there's always more perversion, there's always more wickedness wherever the poverty's at. And then if you go to the part of the city that's more wealthy, right, there's always less crime, there's always less drugs, there's always less sexual immorality. As far as like, you know, people just shacking up with each other and just like, you know, this person has five babies mamas and she has five baby daddies and you know, whatever. Like, there's way less of that where the wealthy parts of the city are. Why? Because, guys, I'm telling you, nothing good comes from poverty. So stop being conflicted around this idea. Well, does God actually want me to be wealthy? I don't know. Like, well, of course he does. He's a good father who desires to have his children blessed. He's a good father who desires for his children to have stewardship, right? Because this is exactly what he told us in Genesis chapter two. He blessed them. He said, be fruitful and multiply, subdue the earth. Let me tell you this right now. You are not going to be subduing or having dominion over the earth if you're broke, right? Like, you're not going to be able to, to run and manage companies. You're not going to be able to do amazing acts of justice in the earth. You're not going to be able to rescue a bunch of orphans and, and support a bunch of widows if you yourself can't even. You don't Even know where your next meal is coming from. You don't even know how you're going to pay your light bill. Like, come on, we need to get unreligious about this. We need to get unconflicted about this, and we need to tap into conviction about this. So here's what I want to submit to you guys, okay? So how do we break the poverty curse off of our family forever and ever and ever? I'm glad you asked. Let me give you a few simple steps that you can step into right now in order to break free, okay? Come back with me here to my trusty notepad. Okay? How do we break free from the poverty curse? How do we do this, guys? Well, there's a few very simple steps that you can take, okay? And the first one is you have got to get your belief. Let me see if I can finish erasing. There we go. Okay. The first thing you got to do to break free, okay, you have got to get your belief right. You've got to get your belief right around. Around what God's desire is. As far as you prospering, right, Are you conflicted or are you convicted? You got to get your belief right. Because even Jesus told us all things are possible. And I know people are like, well, it's possible one day I could be wealthy. But there is a preface to what Jesus said. Jesus didn't just say all things are possible to those who believe. The first part of that verse in the book of John is, Jesus said it like this. If you can believe, then all things will be possible for those who believe. So I want to ask you a question. Can you actually believe that it's possible? Do you actually believe? Remember we talked about at the beginning of the training here, what are your actual beliefs around this subject? Because if your words and your actions are not lining up to what you say, I believe God wants us to be prosperous. But then you're still in lack. You're still in scarcity. You're afraid to be generous, right? Then you obviously, your actions are not backing up your belief. You actually believe that there's not more than enough to go around. You actually believe that maybe God doesn't want me to be prosperous, right? You need to change your limiting beliefs. That's the first step here. You got to get your belief right. When it comes to what does God say about you and your family, your children, your children's children being blessed and living in abundance and prosperity. Second thing, okay, second thing you've got to do is you must grow, Grow Your financial literacy. I don't know if I spelled that right there. You must grow your financial literacy. What does this mean? Okay, so the book of Hosea says that my people perish for lack of knowledge. Okay, so maybe one of the reasons why you are quote unquote perishing in your finances, maybe one of the reasons why you are perishing in your wealth building journey is because you just simply don't have the knowledge on how money actually works. Maybe you're still just going off the system like go to school, go to college, get a, get good grades, get a nice job, hopefully climb the corporate ladder. Hopefully one day you can get to six figures. And then if you just work really, really hard for 40, 50 years, maybe at the end of your life you might be able to retire happy with a little bit of money in the bank. That's not how money works. That's what culture tells us, that's what society tells us. But that's not how money and finances worked. In fact, God lays it all out here for us. And here on the channel, I have a ton of different trainings on how money actually works. Alright, so you need to start growing your financial literacy because if you don't grow your mindset, then your wallet is never going to follow. Okay? The only way that you're going to get a bigger wallet or a bigger bank account is to grow a bigger mindset and a bigger understanding, a bigger knowledge around financial literacy. So I want to submit to you, if the book of Hosea tells us my people perish for lack of knowledge, if we perish for lack of knowledge, then I submit to you. Then we will flourish when we get more knowledge, okay? So if you want to flourish in your finances, you've got to increase and grow your financial literacy. Okay? So number one, you got to get your belief right. Number two, you got to grow your financial literacy. Number three, this one's super important here, okay? You must change your state from disability. To empowerment or ability. You know, here's the really, really sad part about all of this, guys. One of the reasons why so many people stay struggling is because so many people, they believe more in what can't happen than in what can happen. Most people believe more in their limitations than they do in their potential. So how are you going to break free from the poverty curse? Get it off of you and your family forever and ever and ever. Number one, you got to get your belief right. Number two, you got to grow your financial literacy. But number three, you've got to change the state that you are in from disability or like, oh, I wouldn't, I'll never be able to do this and what if it doesn't work for me? You need to get out of empowering thought or sorry, disempowering thoughts, disempowering beliefs. And you need to change your state to more empowering thoughts. More empowering beliefs. How awesome. Instead of saying, oh, this is never going to work for me or what if it doesn't work? Or what if I can't figure it out? It's too hard. Boohoo hoo. Instead of talking to yourself like that, you need to change your state by beginning to talk to yourself like, how awesome is this going to be when it works? How amazing is this going to be for me and my family when I do what it takes to figure this thing out. You need to start changing your state from disempowerment to empowerment. You need to stop believing in your limitations because your limitations don't believe in you. Okay? And then number four, the last thing you got to do is you got to change your status. Okay? So in number three, we have to change our state. Okay. But now in number four, this one's huge for Christians, this huge for Christians. You must change your status from being dependent on others. Notice I didn't say dependent on God dependent on others. To becoming the one who gives generously. Really cool story for you. Okay, so a number of years ago, almost 10 years ago, when my wife and I started our wealth building journey, something interesting was happening. Obviously, for those who don't know, I've been a worship leader for 25 years, missionary all over the world, 79 different nations. It's been incredible. But along that path, I hadn't done number four. Right. I was still under the mindset because this is a very churchy mindset. I was still under the mindset of like, well, we need a breakthrough, so God please help us. And hopefully someone's going to give us some money. And thank God, just like that manna that falls every single, that fell every single day for the the children of Israel. Though it wasn't God's best will, God still met them where they were, even though that they were not in the promised land yet. So God please help us. And God would always raise up a businessman or a businesswoman to come provide some kind of check or miraculous breakthrough for us. Thank you God. And it wasn't until one time we had this big need. We needed like $50,000 for one of the missions projects we were doing. And again, God bless us with the manna, a man of God came, wrote us a check without even thinking, here you go, we'd love to bless you. Boom. And we're like, thank you, God. And my wife begins to ask this question that changed everything for us. And the question was, how do we become those kind of people? How do we transition from being these people who are always dependent on somebody else hoping and praying for manna? How do we actually become the kind of person that it takes to. To slay giants, to take fortified cities, and to actually step into the abundance that is our promised land so that we can become the ones who give generously? We're not just the borrowers, we are the lenders. We're not just the tail, we are the heads. So the fourth thing that you need to do in order to break off poverty from you and your children and your children's children forever and ever and ever is you have got to change your status from being dependent on others to becoming the one who gives generously. Are you going to be the one who's always hoping for a miracle or are you going to become the one who provides the miracle? Are you going to be the one who's like, man, I would love to do something great for the kingdom, but I just don't have the money? Or are you actually going to go figure this out God's way through his principles, morally and ethically, so that you can be the one to say, oh, God wants to do something great in the kingdom. Here's the check to do it, here's the resources. Do it. Boom. Without even thinking, I'm telling you this, friends. You can get to that place. You need to get unconflicted and you need to start becoming more convicted when it comes to God's idea of abundance, prosperity and blessing for you and your family. Okay, guys, before we end here, I just want to remind you one more time, go check out my upcoming five day live virtual training. The Roadmap To Righteous Riches - How Wicked Wealth Transfers To The Righteous
