Rick Torrison argues that beliefs drive behavior: they form from how you interpret experiences, and you can't sustain actions that contradict what you actually believe. Change your beliefs, and your behavior follows.

Our behavior? Where do our behaviors come from? Every behavior that we do comes from a belief that we have, right? So our beliefs and I just talked about this a minute ago with experiences. The source of our beliefs are how we interpret and define experiences in our lives. So something happens in our control or outside of our control, we interpret it, understand it, define it that way. We define it and understand it starts forming a belief. That belief demands action and behavior. Our behavior and our beliefs are intricately tied together. Whether we realize it or not, we'll not act contrary to what we believe. We might try to for a little while, but we always said what we actually believe is going to show up, it's going to come out. And I can't sustain acting in a way that is opposite of my character or what I believe. So my beliefs drive my behaviors and all my behaviors get an outcome.
