Welcome back to Part two of Winning at Life. Today I'll share some practical tips of how to win the day which leads to winning at life. Last week I shared a story about my barber, Michelle, and a question she asked about the new normal. This led to a conversation about her being overwhelmed and feeling like she could never win the day and therefore she was feeling that she was losing at life. I shared with you that there's no easy answer for this and that we're all struggling with this at some level. But there's hope. There's something you can do to take back control of your life and it begins by winning the day that's right in front of you. If you win enough of those days, you win the week. Enough weeks, you win the month, enough months, you win the year again. You get the picture. If you didn't get a chance to watch last week, I'd encourage you to go back and do so. It'll set the foundation for today's conversation. So if the key to winning at Life is to win the day that's in front of us, what does that look like? The key is how you start your day. That sets the tone for how you'll go through the which has everything to do with whether or not you'll win the day. Tim Ferriss of the Four Hour Workweek he said that to win the day, you have to first win the morning. So how do you win the morning? It begins with winning the night before. But let me explain. Norman Vincent Peale had a quote he said yesterday ended last night. He said every day is a new beginning. Learn the skill of forgetting. The only way to move on and let go of yesterday is to put a period. At the end of the day, the last thing you're thinking about, worrying about, watching, reading or doing it will will go with you into your sleep. If those things are about an unfinished day, you'll wake up with unfinished thoughts. At least 30 minutes before you go to bed. Before you go to sleep, turn everything off. Write everything down that's lingering from today's to do list and put it aside. Your last thought will impact your first thought. So take some time to meditate. If you're a person of faith, pray, listen to some calming music, think positive thoughts, declare life over yourself. Once you've won the night and left it behind, you can focus on on the day at hand. Now here's a key to the day. It's exactly what Tim Ferriss said. Win the morning. I'm going to give you four things you can start Tomorrow. That will help you win the day by winning the morning. The first thing Set up a morning routine. Keep it simple. In bed. Out of bed. First breaths. Take five deep breaths to put oxygen into your blood. It wakes your mind. The first words. Speak something positive over yourself. And the first steps out of bed. Be purposeful. Number two. Give thanks. First thought sets the tone. If you read scripture, meditate, do a daily devotion, but take 60 seconds and journal some positive thoughts. I will. I can. I am. The third thing. Exercise. It equals a better mood. Just 5 to 10 reps of anything is better than 0 reps of nothing. Physical activity is the natural remedy for stress. Exercise wakes up your mind. It releases endorphins. It gives you that energy you need to start the day. It takes the anxiety away and puts you in a positive mood. And the last thing? Number four. I call them Power up or power breaks. Break the fast. Eat something healthy. See, the reality is, overnight your body's at rest. It's considered to be fasting. And it's recommended that the Average person get eight hours of sleep. Children need 10. This is a long time to go without eating. So if you don't eat in the morning, your body won't get the energy it needs for you to win the day. You know, this affects concentration, mood, weight maintenance, everything. This is all part of winning the day. You win the day by winning the morning. You win the morning through these four steps. So as we wrap it up, remember, set a morning routine. Give thanks. Exercise and power up. Break the fast by eating something healthy. Remember, if you want to win at life, it begins with winning the day. To win the day, we need to put a period on yesterday and then win the morning. It's really about your attitude. And as Zig Ziglar says, our attitude is going to determine our altitude.
