What's the hardest lesson life has ever taught you? That's kind of a hard question to ask, right? Because it makes us have to reflect back on some difficult moments and difficult times. I think the hardest lesson that life has ever taught me, I actually learned through my son. When my son was young, he went through a period of his life that was extremely challenging. A lot of identity issues. He was adopted from birth, but struggled with his identity, struggled with who he was. And some things in his life, and those manifested in anger, shame, guilt, rage that ended up becoming out of control, leading him through a season of his life of wishing that he didn't exist and that life wasn't worth living any longer. See, he didn't allow himself to be defined by the feelings and emotions he was going through in that moment. The pain, the rage, the anger, or the lack of control. Instead, he chose to get up again and again and again until he finally was able to break through and find his identity, his value, and his worth, which freed him from the bondage and the guilt and the shame that he felt in his life. See, the greatest lesson for him and for me was that we're not a failure until we quit. He failed many times, but he never quit. He kept getting up. And I think that's what defines us.
