Still Sick? How Kinesiology Reveals the Root Cause Others Miss
21 May 2025 · 39 min
In this podcast episode, hosts interview kinesiologist and holistic practitioner Anne Barrett about how kinesiology can uncover hidden emotional stresses that manifest as chronic physical symptoms. Barrett explains the science behind kinesiology—combining anatomy, physiology, and Chinese Five‑Element theory—and describes the "Triangle of Health" (mental‑emotional‑spiritual, physical‑structural, biochemical) that guides her muscle‑testing assessments. She details how suppressed emotions are stored in specific organs (e.g., liver‑anger, heart‑grief) and how the subconscious mind uses adrenaline and cortisol to attempt healing, often leading to chronic fatigue, pain, or disease when blocks remain. The conversation covers case studies such as infertility, endometriosis, fibromyalgia, weight‑loss sabotage, and secondary gain, illustrating how personal beliefs and family programming shape health outcomes. Barrett also discusses the role of vibrational frequencies, bio‑resonance, and ancillary tools (essences, hypnotherapy, counseling) in rebalancing the body. Finally, she offers practical advice for listeners: seek alternative practitioners, ask precise questions in muscle testing, explore emotional roots, and be open to experimental healing pathways.

Childless not by choice is a thing. Like, there are people that choose to be childfree, but there are also many people where IVF has failed or they've had, you know, many miscarriages. There are some counselors that do support them, but there aren't that many support people who have actually experienced childlessness themselves.
Joining us today is Anne Barrett, whose work at Empowering Health blends kinesiology, bioresonance therapy, and holistic healing to help individuals unlock their body's innate ability to heal through emotional balance.
So, Anne, tell us, kinesiology—
what is it and how does it communicate? It's an energy system and it communicates with the body to uncover emotional hidden stresses. Now tell us about it and how does it do that?
Kinesiology is a combination of the science of anatomy and physiology combined with Chinese theories, and it uses muscle testing to identify what is a stress and what's not a stress. So I use people's arms like a lever, but it's just like an on-off switch. And anything that is a stress within the body actually has an impact on your energy system and the frequencies of like your neurotransmitters and your cells. And so essentially with muscle testing, we're looking for the weakness. And when there's a weakness, when things are not your well-being, the muscle weakens. And but when something is for your well-being and is in alignment with you, the arm stays locked. And so that's how we then tap into what the body person's subconscious mind actually wants for them. Because we actually all have the ability to heal ourselves. Because our subconscious mind knows everything that's going on in our systems. But it's trying to keep you in a constant state of balance and harmony by when— and then if we've got any physical symptoms, that must be because there's a block there. So we look for blocks in your energy systems, whether they be in organs, in muscles, um, and within your meridians we look at as well, as well as, um, things on a more energetic layer as well, like your auras and chakras. And so in the context of kinesiology, we reference the Triangle of Health, and the Triangle of Health is, um, looks— has 3 sides, as every triangle does. One side represents the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves. The other side looks at the physical and structural. And then the third side represents the biochemical. And biochemical represents all the nutrition, the foods we're putting in our body, the toxins we may be exposed to, things we may breathe in the air, for example, car fumes, and imbalances within our body chemistry as well. sometimes, like, people will come with a physical symptom, but kinesiology then helps to identify if what the underlying cause is, because often the physical symptom is a byproduct of either something biochemical or something emotional being out of balance. Every session is called a balance. And in the center of the triangle of health, we have the symbol of the yin and yang, and which is also known as chi, which is also life force energy. And our energy levels are a byproduct and a consequence of our whole body being in balance and that triangle of health being in balance. And then when we want more detail and getting even into more specifics, we reference the Chinese 5 elemental flow. The 5 elemental flow represents— we've got wood, fire, earth, metal, and water elements. And energy, according to Chinese theory, flows in a clockwise direction. And is always like in a constant flow. However, when there's a physical pain, for example, or a health symptom, is often an overcharge of energy, and we put a plus symbol there. And then if there's a plus there, that means there has to be a minus somewhere. And so that it's stealing its excess energy from. And so the idea again of this balanced, to bring things into balance, is to take that excess and give it back to where it belongs. And so that when the person leaves here, that's when the self-healing starts to happen as the— because we've essentially identified where the blocks are. We do little balancing techniques. There's a great variety of them. And then so to allow things to start flowing again, and with that flowing process, or movement process, then the body can start healing, the cells can start to shift and change, releasing toxins, and neurology can start to reprogram in a different way. And, and then or otherwise, they have homework as well sometimes to do For example, adding an extra food into their diet or taking a supplement or adding more exercise. There's lots of different things that come up for the individual, and no one balance is ever the same because every session asks the client's body what it needs. I don't know what the client's body needs. I just interpret what their body is telling me what it needs. And I've found that It works every time.
For you to get to that point, for someone— if someone's come to you and they have some form of emotional distress or emotional block, or they have some form of chronic disease, this would work and be effective. Would it be effective depending on how good the question is that you ask through muscle testing?
It all depends on the questioning, but I haven't had any issues as yet Because we work with, like if someone comes with a diagnosis, because as a kinesiologist, I don't treat, diagnose, or prescribe. We work with your symptoms towards a goal. And so what is, I ask the person, what are your symptoms? Because sometimes actually people may have even been misdiagnosed because as you know, over the years, the medical system has become more and more aware of new things. Like a friend of mine, she had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis years ago. But now, more recently, she's actually been diagnosed with a completely different condition, but it has similar baseline symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. And so even to work with a diagnosis, if we were allowed to, I would have been doing the wrong thing. And so that's why we work with your symptoms. And then what are those symptoms stopping you from doing in life? And what is it that you want to be doing in life if you didn't have all these problems? And so that's what we're working towards. And that's— so you can't quite get that wrong if someone's being open and honest with you about what they really want for themselves.
You don't ask somebody, do you have diabetes or do you have arthritis? You're actually tapping into what are all the symptoms, what are you feeling, what are you experiencing, what sort of pain, what sort— is there heat? It's that type of questioning that all those sort of answers that you get that gives you, um, a roadmap of where to go.
Because people, like, if we, if you and I had the same condition, um, like the same diagnosis of some kind, it might manifest differently in my body as it would to your body. Like, and, or, and same with, like, I'll just use my example of infertility because I couldn't have children. And okay, infertility was one of my symptoms of, um, an underlying condition. But for someone else with those same underlying condition, the symptoms would have been, could have been very different, and they might have kids. Yeah, so it's different for the individual. And that's why kinesiology is fantastic to work with. And you can't really do group work with kinesiology. It has to be a one-on-one because it is about the individual and what it is that's— so even like with emotional stresses, for example, because I didn't mention earlier when I was referencing the Chinese 5 Elements flow, each of the elements represents— so I'll just reference the wood element, which is where the first sign of stress comes online. So in wood, we have the organs of gallbladder, bladder, and liver mentioned here. They're also organs, as you know. They also represent muscles. But in this chart, we have lists of emotions as well. And so according to Chinese theory, emotions actually get assigned to different organs. Over the years, I know, like, because I'm in my 50s, I was taught to be quiet and say, you're a child, you know, you'll get over it, and not to express emotions. My parents weren't emotional people. So I wasn't taught how to express emotions, not like a lot of younger people nowadays. It's all about talking through your emotions, which is very healthy to do. And, um, but for many people, it's like we suppress them, and then over the years, another emotion will come on top of that, another one on top of that, and another one on top of that. And then we forget eventually all those other emotions that were suppressed over the years. But your subconscious mind, the primitive mind, remembers everything that's happened in your entire life, and it's constantly trying to then essentially heal those emotions that you're still storing in your body. Neurotransmitters have a memory themselves. And then the way that it does that is to send adrenaline there first, because the only way it knows how to heal you. And then our adrenals are working without us even knowing, and it's sending adrenaline out to where that emotion may be stuck in that organ. And if that still doesn't heal, then it sends cortisol. Cortisol is much more highly toxic than adrenaline in the body. And again, then we start to wonder, why am I feeling tired? I've got no idea. I've got no stresses going on that I'm aware of. I'm not stressed at work. I'm doing my yoga. I'm doing my breathing and meditating. But then why am I still constantly feeling tired? And it's because your body is actually working without you even consciously being aware of it, trying to heal you and emotions that you may have suppressed. The idea of kinesiology is to— for every single technique we do is to find the underlying emotion as well attached to the balancing technique that we need to do. Because when we've got too much cortisol going into one place, that actually affects the cellular health. And then that's when it starts to crystallize. And then it starts to form into something in that organ, causing a disruption within the energy of that organ, and the physicality of that organ as well. And then that's where dis-ease or discomfort comes from as well. Bringing conscious awareness to the suppressed emotions that we weren't conscious about is enough for that energy to start shifting and moving around and wanting to be released.
Well, that really does play into the importance of, you know, the whole mind-body syndrome, the whole mind-body concept, and how so many people, um, are jumping on to that. You know, they're starting to understand. I actually interviewed a doctor earlier today, and he was a big advocate for the mind-body, which I thought was amazing. You know, so it is making headway. But for people who are struggling, who haven't Heard of this before and they're hearing you say emotions— like, we've heard sayings, like sayings of, you know, um, the liver is the seat of anger, for example.
Mm-hmm.
So how do these emotional wounds physically manifest in the body? You know, for someone who's not quite understanding what you mean by, you know, how— they'll be going, well, how does an emotion get trapped in your kidney? You know, so how, how do these wounds get trapped or manifest?
Yeah, it's just, just that, as I explained, where emotions, certain emotions get assigned to different organs. So anger and rage are listed in the liver meridian. Um, and then in the heart meridian, we have forgiveness, compassion, self-confidence, brokenhearted. I'm just giving some examples. And then in the stomach, it's all about contentment, fulfillment, um, feeling empty, feeling nauseous in life. The metal element is where grief, regret, release, shame, and toxic shame come online as well. And then in water element is where the anxiety comes online and fear, dread, terror, and panic. And we always have to constantly stay on top of things as well. When an emotion, any of these emotions have been suppressed, then, and it goes to that organ, then often that's how then you make that other body connection to the emotion. It's like, oh, yes. If someone has constant liver difficulties, what stress— I mean, it's really just the first sign of stress. So what stress have you had in your life? I think most of us have had some form of stress. It's just the way that our society has been forced to live nowadays as well. It's like working to deadlines and having to follow time and be at work at 9 o'clock. And despite trains maybe not working and, oh my God, I'm going to get in trouble now by my boss. And so any of those stresses, something within the physical symptom. And we all know, like, how it feels in our body, like when we are really stressed or when we are really sad. And, you know, if I was to ask you to recall those moments, a moment where you felt most sad, and you notice your whole body posture changing as well when you do that. But then if I ask you to recall a time where you felt most happy and joyous without a care in the world, again, it changes our posture, it opens up our chest, our shoulders go back, we stand taller. And they're all neurological as well as cellular changes. And we can like that affects all the activities. So any sign of stress also then puts us into our fight-flight mode as opposed to our parasympathetic mode. And, um, just coming back to emotions though, the body and the mind aspect, we have also the 3 brains aspects. We have the literal mind, we have the heart brain, and the gut brain. And so sometimes these emotions can actually stem from the heart and affect the mind or the digestive system and that impact the mind. That's what I find a lot of the people that that have come to see me in the past who come for anxiety and depression, it's actually gut imbalances that are contributing to their emotional well-being. And, um, yeah, so then by addressing what's going on with the digestive system, we're able to support them, um, because often most of them want to come off their medications in the long run. And again, when we work hand in hand with the doctors to support that. Gut-brain also has an impact on our mental health and well-being as well.
Absolutely. You know, they do call our gut bacteria, you know, the— whether it's healthy or not, our second brain. If that is imbalanced, definitely people feel brain fog and, you know, tiredness and, you know, a bit of depression, etc. So just to distill what you've said so far, our emotions are stored in our body. They have an element to them, you know, depending whether It's stored in your kidney, your gallbladder, your liver, your lungs, wherever it is. So someone comes— so someone can come to you with a condition, but you don't look at it as a condition. You ask them about— you talk about symptoms, and then you discover whatever the emotion is behind those symptoms via muscle testing, or give you the positive or negative response. By the questions that you ask.
And someone can come— you just reminded me also, someone can come, like, say, with lung difficulties, and they literally may have been working with asbestos in the past, or working with concrete, or, you know, something that's had an influence on what's happening with their lung health. And that is still a physical— that's like physical and physical, literal things happening. Um, and some people would say then Well, then there's no emotion attached to that because it's a consequence of something having happened. Same with an accident. But then we find, well, why isn't the body able to then help them to better heal? And so we then find the emotions that would help them in that process and what other supports they might need other than whatever their doctor has prescribed them to further support what's going on. Because the nice thing about kinesiology also is that it works with the person, with what they can cope with in that moment in time as well. Because sometimes people will go to a doctor or another practitioner, like another holistic health type practitioner, and they come away from feeling overwhelmed, and then they end up in bed for a whole week unable to cope and manage because they've gone into this like almost crisis state. And, and even talking with their psychologist, sometimes that might take them too deep or going— I also practice hypnotherapy and I'm a qualified counselor as well. It's not all about talk therapy. Kinesiology is very much about, okay, can you recognize this emotion which may have happened around this time in your life? Because through muscle testing, we can also identify at what age an emotion may have come online. So it's not necessarily now. So I'm finding a lot of people, the emotion may have come online 7 years prior before it starts to actually manifest as major physical symptoms as well. So that's often why it's hard to pinpoint in standard systems, or when you're just looking at an isolated issue. For example, whether it be like a physical pain in the shoulder, and you go to your physio, and the problem keeps coming back. I used to go and see a chiropractor before I learned kinesiology. I still go to a chiropractor for further adjustments that I can't do on myself. they know and recognize that people do come back for the same problem. So then why are they— why do they keep coming back? And it's because the technique that they've done doesn't always hold if there is an emotional attachment to it, though, or a subconscious belief. So we also do work with limiting beliefs and sabotage patterns as well, which we then again identify through muscle testing. Sometimes an individual may be aware of what their sabotages are, but then I also have other reference lists as well. Like, I've got one book, one, one book alone has 5,500, um, different statements that I can choose from. So which can help guide us into the direction for that person, um, as well to identify what is their sabotage, why is their subconscious mind blocking them from being able to heal themselves. Because the subconscious mind is so powerful and it can overwrite what you want consciously. And I can give my own example for this one is like For many years, I was trying to lose weight. And I'd go on, like, pay thousands of dollars for these weight loss programs. And it'd be okay. Like, I'd start to incrementally go down. But by month 3, I'd be putting on weight again. And I'd even be further up than where I started from. And it's like, it was just this constant pattern. And so I'm a big believer about trying things before I recommend them to clients as well. It wasn't until then I started, okay, I thought this, that's the end of it. I'm just going to start doing balances around it and identified that my subconscious mind believed that Big and strong was actually healthy because that's what my mother had instilled in me—that skinny people, anyone slim looked anorexic. And then I caught myself out like there's a lady walking across the street, and I was like, "God, she looks sick." And I was like, "Hang on a second. Where did that come from? She doesn't look sick. She's actually you know the weight that I'd like to be." And it's like, "Okay, where's this coming online?" And then one of the shakes that came with this weight loss program reminded me a lot of a chocolate thick shake, and. My mum used to force-feed me chocolate shakes and hot chips as a way of fattening me up so that I'd look more healthy because I used to be stick skinny when I was younger. And it's like my subconscious mind was saying, yes, I want to be healthy, but healthy is big. And that comes from a European heritage as well. Like with farming stock, you have to be big and strong. And even my father, like he couldn't go to America when he was immigrating because he wasn't big enough. And because they wanted wood choppers. And so then he then had to come to Australia, uh, instead and to work on the roads because simply because of his weight. So both my parents are all about be big and strong so that you can achieve things in life.
So that's a belief that you took on?
Yes, exactly.
And that interrupted your ability to lose weight. So we go back down to— we can go and see Doctors, we can go see functional doctors, we can see, uh, dietitians, we can see whoever.
But if you'd seen them and it's more prescriptive, either medication or even just supplements, you're not really dealing with the very underlying cause of the emotions. Like, we can find the root cause, I guess, for our physical symptoms.
We can do all the testing, but it has to go hand in hand with the actual emotions as well.
Otherwise, it's just going to keep coming back.
That's what you're saying, right?
And we can also be born— we are all born with a particular pattern. I liken it to, you know, the circuitry, but the green circuitry boards with the gold wiring on it. Like, we're all born with a set of neurology that we've taken on from our parents, our programming. And then between the ages of 0 and 7 and up to age 27, we're still modeling and learning, and all our neurons are developing and connecting as we learn our values, our beliefs, systems, and we're modeling on our parents' behavior. But if our parents are reactive emotions— so we have primitive, primitive reactive emotional reflex responses. So they're the responses that our fight-flight system amygdala responds with before the logical mind, the front brain, can kick in. And so this is our creative logical thinking process, the front brain, the neocortex, and then the primitive mind is at the back. And that has programmed emotions which we just react with. without thinking. And so those reactions also, like a lot— I have a lot of men that come, um, because their wives send them because they're constantly angry and get angry at little things, and they want to know why. And the wives want them to stop being so angry. And, um, we identify that that's— they've often been programmed with that via their family tree. And so the work that I do also then helps to start shift and change that by weakening those old neurological pathways so they can start Making new neurological pathways through repetitive work, um, as well.
In using that as a, as a case study, to go back to where we store our emotions, with the men who were so angry all the time, do you find that liver and gallbladder would come up a lot? Or, you know, so that's—
One even had to have his gallbladder removed.
Oh, really?
Yeah, it was that, that was that bad.
So that's how our emotions can affect the pathology of our body, what actually happens. So, you know, um, knees would represent something, hips would represent something, I'm sure. So with people who are dealing with chronic health conditions or are stuck in a cycle of fear, frustration, and hopelessness, what are some of the most powerful mindset shifts or emotional releases that can help break this cycle? Using kinesiology.
I, I, I'm qualified in a great variety of modalities, but I always use kinesiology as the foundation and the platform, the protocol to start with, because that's that great tool which allows us to then tap into the individual's subconscious mind. It's different for everybody. And when there's chronic pain, sometimes there is also a secondary gain for some people. So like I have, um, one person. She came to see me because she had fibromyalgia and she was in chronic, constant aching all over. And she started to get better through kinesiology. And then, but then she discovered that, oh, if I get better, I won't get my benefits anymore. So I'm not going to come back and see you anymore because I want to stay sick in a sense. So she consciously became aware of that. But some people are subconscious about their beliefs. Somebody else I know had a sore wrist. And so again, we did kinesiology, identified the emotions attached to it identified that it was actually by having the sore wrist, it meant that her husband actually started washing the dishes every night. And she said, oh, actually I still want him to keep doing that, so I'm going to keep my sore wrist.
It's so interesting. I love this whole secondary gain because what, what I find for someone to shift their mindset or release an emotion or a belief, it creates a void. So what are you putting into the void? We don't like voids. So what do we— what are we replacing into the void? So unless we're actually replacing it something, I find that someone's motivation to release that, or, you know, like you're saying, the secondary gain, the motivation suddenly goes. Do you help them then, uh, see an alternative way so they can heal the wrist and still have the dishes washed?
Yes. And we talk— and we talk through that process and what, you know, what's unique to them. unfortunately, voids are very heavy, strong energy, and it's like this giant vortex that tries to pull in other negative things as well. And this, you know, brings us to our personal vibration. Even if you represent Maslow's hierarchy of needs and our sense of safety and fear, that's our strongest baseline where we need to start from, is being feeling safe. And then it's human psyche to want to constantly improve ourselves and move towards enlightenment. And enlightenment is a much higher vibrational Mm-hmm. And emotions carry different, um, vibrational frequencies as well. And, um, every emotion has a frequency. So that allows us to then work with those as well on a variety of different ways. I use, um, essences as well. Um, when a person can't quite comprehend what's going on for them and how that emotion relates, it's like, okay, let's remind your body what it is to vibrate at that frequency. And then that's enough to start shifting the blocks from their perspective as well, because sometimes people may not come up with their own solutions while they're with me. But then it's usually, you know, when you're not thinking about it and you might be having a shower 3 days later, you go, oh, now I know what that relates to. And then they message me and let me know. Otherwise, it's tell me in the next session that they were able to connect the dots. And a lot of it is about connecting the dots of your life or through the family tree. So working with frequencies, there is a book called Power and Force as well, which lists All the different frequencies. And on YouTube, there's lots of frequency resources as well. Like I listen to biofrequency, bioresonance frequencies for specific things sometimes, and lovely tunes. And, and then I also work with biofrequencies for wellness as well with some of my clients, and then recommend that as ongoing as homework in between sessions too. So when our vortex is really dark, so we like attracts like. And so if you're a low vibration person, then you're going to attract more low vibration things in. So the work about working on, on yourself and self-improvement and in your health is about raising your frequency so that anything that's not in alignment with who you really want to be and who you really are at the soul level will just drop away and won't see you. But for some people, it's difficult when they're in a relationship and they're really dependent on their close-knit friends, because if they start to differentiate themselves, by getting healthy again, they start to have conflicts with those— that original support network and friendship network or relationships as well. Because, you know, when in a group, in group dynamics, in family dynamics, everyone has a role. And somebody might have the role of that sick person. She's the one that's always sick. She's the one that always needs help. She's the one that we always have to come around. And then if that person then starts to improve themselves, then everybody else's personality and, um, the way that they think also has to shift and change. And that can cause a lot of imbalance as well in the, in the dynamics of a family. And so there's a lot to deal with, even if you're wanting to improve your own health and wellbeing. It's about understanding that you might upset someone because your frequencies are shifting and changing and not matching as well anymore. If they liked you in that low vibration frequency, because you're a better match to them. But if you start shifting and changing, yeah, that's when people start to— complain sometimes, and then the individual may choose to just to keep the peace. It's like go back to that state as well. But it's about working with them to help them to find alternatives, find new people that do resonate at the frequency that they want to be with. And a lot of the mindset coaching businesses, they always talk about like surround yourself with the people that you want to be like because then that will help raise. And then that's the reason for it really is because You don't want to keep attracting more negative things into your life.
It sort of reminds me that why some people heal fully on a particular— you have 2 people on a particular treatment, for example, one will heal fully and one won't. And you think, well, why? They're both doing the same. Say, for example, they've got cancer, they're both on exactly the same cancer drug, one will be in remission and one will not. And it's that— I think what you were saying there is, what is our subconscious belief around changing, uh, how that change affects the people around us? Do we put that person before us, you know, our own self-care, our own self-needs? What are we prepared to give up and to put in differently? So there's so much to it, isn't it, around— like when people say, oh, I want to heal, yeah, there's so many elements, there's so many levels to it. It's so interesting. And I think one thing I really like about kinesiology is it can't lie, you know. As long as you are asking the right questions, the deep enough questions, specific enough questions, your body will always— it taps into your body's intelligence, so your body will always give it the right answer.
It bypasses the conscious mind.
Yes, it's such a fascinating tool to really get to that root cause on the emotional level, and then there's so many layers underneath that. What is— and I know that you have a, um, a story about yourself— so what's one of the most profound transformations that you've witnessed either in yourself or a client, you know, from un— from uncovering or addressing, you know, these true root cause emotions? For example, I—
well, I was sick myself for over 20 years and progressively getting worse and worse and worse while I was in a corporate job, a corporate career. And, you know, the further you work up the ladder, the harder you have to work, the longer hours you have to work. And I was seeing— spending lots and lots of money over those years. I was getting lots of inflammatory symptoms, which then also became endometriosis and rashes all over me, weight gain, and lots and lots of different things all connected to underlying inflammation, and which also relates to stress. But I wasn't getting the answers that I need. And also I was at the point where I wanted to try and fall pregnant, and that's why I was also then adamant that I had to get to the bottom of things. And, um, saw lots of individual things— people for my diet, who else did hair analysis, doctors— because with my endometriosis I was having to have surgery to have it cut out every so often. I was going to gynecologists Anyone that I could think of and that I knew of, because, you know, I didn't know everything. I don't, you know, and there's so many modalities out there. It's so hard to know. You have to do your own research as to what is in alignment with you and what you really feel will help you. I was doing all that over 20 years. And then in the end, my endometriosis grew through my colon for a second time. And the colorectal surgeon said he wouldn't operate because it was too close to the opening and too risky because I had so much scar tissue from the previous surgery. that he then had to do a full hysterectomy, including my ovaries. And, well, the other, the other specialist had to cut that out because the— anyway, and then, yeah, so I hit rock bottom because I ended up in surgically induced menopause. Also just, you know, learning that I can't have kids ever, then my own, which is what I always wanted. And so I ended up depressed and in bed. So I was at a turning point. It's like either my— I have to end my life somehow, or otherwise I choose to change my life. And so I chose to change my life. The only way that I could logically make sense of how I was going to start changing was to learn how the body works. Because although I'd been to so many different specialists and spent so much money, I still didn't know how the body worked. And I was then adamant that by learning how the body works— but that hasn't changed. I was then going to be able to help myself some way. That's how then I remembered I had been once to a kinesiologist for migraines. Started going through all my old brochures I'd picked up from the Mind Body Spirit Festival and found this brochure for kinesiology and started reading them in more detail about what it was about. So I didn't quite comprehend it during the session. And it's like, yeah, this is what really resonates with me because it included the science side of things as well, which is what I really wanted to learn and combined it with Chinese theories. And so the same theories that they use in Chinese medicine and acupuncture, that works the two together. And so I knew, okay, well, rather than spending thousands of dollars on practitioners, I'm going to spend thousands of dollars on this course. If anything, if nothing else, I'm going to be getting balances every week from the other students on me, and that's worth the investment in itself. Yeah, I actually started to feel better for the first time within a short amount of time just having just even the most basic of kinesiology techniques done because we started addressing the underlying emotions. Nobody had ever talked to me about emotions connected in with what was going in my body before. So then after that, I then decided— I did, I did other further ongoing study because there's so many tools in kinesiology. I'll just use hypnotherapy as an example. We are trained with, um, hypnotherapy, we are trained with counseling modules as well, but it's like I wanted to know more. I wanted to know more. So then I Qualifications in further qualifications in hypnotherapy as well, and now qualified to teach it if I wanted to. Then through that work, I then decided no. There's so such a big hole in the market at that time. People weren't even talking about endometriosis at the time, and it's like and and same with fertility. Like nobody's talking about childlessness. You know, childless not by choice is a thing. Like there are people that choose to be childfree, but there are also many people where IVF has failed or they've had you know many miscarriages. There are some counselors that do support. them. But there aren't that many support people who have actually experienced childlessness themselves. And I didn't, I couldn't find anyone at the time to help me. It's just like nobody really understood. I found that I couldn't talk to anyone that could really understand what it was I was going through. My counselor had 5 kids. And it's like, oh, you must be sad. It's like, yeah, but you just don't, you can't get it. Like the fact that I've had this choice taken away from me, that was like my purpose for living. So kinesiology helped me process a lot of the, even the anger around not having the supports that I needed, anger at the specialist, like the post-operation conversations. It's like, what conversation? When I asked, is there support? And they laughed at me, hahaha, as if there is. I was like, what? And so that then inspired me to then fill a hole in the market to start my own business and support others so that they don't have to suffer in pain and with illness for as long as I did. And just a year ago, I went and started with a new integrative functional medicine doctor, and she did all my tests because I started getting some of the symptoms back that I had way back then before my hysterectomy. She was able to tell me that I was actually starting to experience menopausal symptoms again for a second time because I'm at that age where I would have been starting menopause again. So, um, that was like a relief. Like, I didn't know that. Not something that I was taught in kinesiology, but I've learned now through life experience. Gone through menopause twice. She, when she did all my work, blood works and all my other tests, she was actually surprised at how healthy and young I look for my age. And she said, someone with these results and this history would normally be in bed, obese, and on NDIS. And she said, what are you doing? And I said, I'm doing kinesiology.
What a— it's a fascinating story. Just is testament to the power of the mind.
Yes, exactly.
And kinesiology might be the tool, but it's the mind that's actually doing it. For someone who's listening right now, frustrated with their ongoing symptoms and looking for answers, what would you recommend as their first step that they can take today?
I'd say start, start looking for alternatives, because if whatever they've been doing hasn't been working, they have to do something different. Yes. Even to start talking to other people. Other people have other awarenesses. Talk to your friends. Talk to doctors. If they— sometimes doctors will recommend other holistic health practitioners that might be in the area that they know of. People in the coffee shop, ask them. Go into coffee shops. So often there's notices. A lot of practitioners will put up their business cards on notice boards. Even in our local supermarket, people put their business cards up there. And it's often that way. It's like, where would you be guided? Listening to that intuition. and being open to trying new things. I say it's all a lot about being experimental and adventurous, like going on that adventure of your healing process. Where is life going to take you? Life is meant to be a big adventure. Maybe there is some element of you needing to learn something. And often our health symptoms are all about like, what haven't you learned? What haven't you let go of yet? And so yeah, when you're stuck, just start looking for something different that you haven't tried. As a first point and then go from there.
And thank you so much for coming on to the show. It's been very eye-opening, and I think for anybody who hasn't, um, come across kinesiology before and do have some, you know, emotional issues, it sounds like such a promising thing that they could actually do and/or go and see someone who does it, a kinesiologist. All of Anne's details will be in the show notes. So if you do like, you know, what Anne's been talking about, please contact her because it is a fascinating medium. Thank you so much, Anne, for being on the show.
