Rob Hersov: The "Wit Gevaar" Lies & The Truth About SA Gun Control

Robert Basil Hersov argues that South Africa's gun control laws disarm law-abiding citizens while criminals get weapons through corruption. He says the ANC uses fear tactics called "Wit Gevaar" to keep people compliant, and that the right to bear arms is essential self-defense when the state fails to protect citizens.

"Vet gefahr, swart gefahr." When we rise up and swarm over the hill, you'd better watch out. J.J. Tabane, great guy, threatened me with these scare tactics at Mike Scham's State of the Nation breakfast a few weeks ago when we were on a panel together. And I told him I was sick of his nonsense and he could get stuffed and bring it on. All this sort of scaremongering is rife, and it's been around for decades. It's simply to keep you quiet, to keep you under control, and to breed fear so you become another ANC supplicant. Bit like cowardly corporate South Africa kissing Cyril's ring in case he takes their licenses away. Well, I'm not scared, and nor should you be. We know the army and police are underfunded, corrupt, captured by the ANC and basically made completely useless by all the ANC incompetent cadres in positions of power. We know it, we see it. The police and army aren't there to protect you or our borders. They are ANC employment agencies, much like other SOEs, whose only role is to hire other ANC morons who get a job to steal and get bribed to vote ANC. On your tax rands. Our military has more generals per capita than any other military in the world. What an embarrassment. No incentive to protect you. Their only incentive is to steal and keep the ANC gangsters in power. So the ANC can keep stealing our country blind. The police and army did nothing to protect the people, their homes, and their businesses. And the people—you—had to stand up and protect themselves. And they did. Black, white, coloured Indians stood shoulder to shoulder to protect each other and to protect one another's homes and businesses. And the unrest was kicked back to touch and didn't spread across the country. And when the EFF came to Brackenfell in the Cape to cause trouble, they got their cut. To the US Constitution, which is the right to bear arms. It's the tyranny of the state. Against the tyranny of the state. Think about that and the relevance to South Africa. You have the right to bear arms to protect yourself against the tyranny of the state. Well, that is exactly why we can never give up our right to bear arms and to have private security organizations stand up on our behalf against the ANC thieves and gangsters, particularly as the police and army ain't gonna do it. So on guns, Here is what the research shows. What is the regulatory regime on semi-automatic rifles? Under the Firearms Control Act of 2000, such semi-automatic rifles are only allowed with specific licenses— dedicated hunting, shooting, business, self-defense— and are no longer permitted in everyday civilian ownership. But new government regulations aim to further restrict semi-automatic rifles, limiting them to use in cash-in-transit, critical infrastructure, and anti-poaching only. Tactical teams, high-risk units, and private security would need exemptions, which will cripple their capability. Basically, South African criminals aren't lining up for gun licenses, but the ANC wants to take the tools away that stand between you and death. So law-abiding citizens face crippling red tape, And only a select few can legally own semi-automatics. Tactical units, farm watchers, and acid protection teams risk being left defenseless. So guns flow into criminal hands from corrupt officials, not from licensed civilians. And what's the truth behind the numbers? The real danger isn't licensed citizens like you and me. It's illicit guns in criminal hands. The ANC's planned disarmament of trained defenders holding weapons and holding licenses doesn't reduce crime. It hands the advantage to criminals. Now, what do they not want you to know? The state isn't protecting you. It's weakening our ability to defend ourselves. That's the key. While law-abiding citizens labor through bureaucracy, criminals exploit corruption and porous borders. Do we even have borders? We stand for free markets and Western tradition. When your right to self-defense is neutered, that's not safety, it's surrender. So here's my wake-up call. Why is this not headline news? Because our elites benefit from a disarmed population. And what's at stake? A South Africa where farmers, citizens, and conservationists are left vulnerable. How fast will these consequences hit? Every day brings another theft, another hijacking, another tragedy. You know that. And we need to stand firm. We need to call out the ANC gangsters. Push back, demand retention of semi-automatic access for qualified civilians. And expose corruption. Highlight where the illegal guns come from. We also need to streamline the system. We need to make licensing efficient. Not prohibitive, for law-abiding citizens, the stakes are high. If we allow the ANC to disarm us, then criminals get more firepower, and innocent people like you pay the price. If we fight back and refuse these ANC laws, then citizens remain defended, protected, corruption is exposed, crime is challenged. It's very simple, it usually is, You don't disarm while the fox guards the henhouse. You rearm the good and honest people. South Africans, we must refuse to be defenseless. We need to stand ready. We need to be armed. We need to stand together. The time might come when we need to fight for our right to live free. So let's make sure we are armed and ready. Futsack ANC and futsack spineless and useless Cyril. We've had enough.
