This is Rob Hersov for The Truth Report. I'm going to talk about South Africa's economic growth crisis. Our country, South Africa, is on life support, and the ANC is pulling the plug. Let's be brutally honest, we've reached a breaking point, and silence is no longer an option. Our economy isn't just underperforming, it's being throttled by years of systemic rot. ANC mismanagement has choked the life out of South Africa's growth. The IMF has officially downgraded South Africa's growth forecast in April to a meagre 1% for 2025, down from 1.5%. I think it's going to be lower than that, citing global trade uncertainty, tariff shocks, and chronic domestic weaknesses. And Investec's outlook, our own Investec, in May has confirmed the same bleak projection. 1% year-on-year growth. This is embarrassing. And this isn't merely a statistic. It's a national economy flattening and flatlining. What it means: sidelined investment, shuttered companies, and households squeezed tighter by high costs amid no wage relief. A sluggish 1% growth. What does that translate into? Directly into stagnation in incomes and job creation. Businesses are are struggling to stay afloat. Consumers feel every rand tighten, and the expansion of social grant budgets— Cyril— is being debated because people are suffering. Meanwhile, the ANC leadership continues producing speeches, not action. Infrastructure crumbles, from ports and roads to the power grid. Electricity blackouts— yes, again— are the new normal, and political theatre takes precedence over structural reform. Allowing corrupt ANC cronies to thrive while the economy dives. South Africans deserve better than hollow promises. We need hard-fought, transparent reforms, from rail and energy to trade policy and anti-corruption enforcement. Not tomorrow. Not next year. Today.
