Rob Hersov Women and Wokeism

Rob Hersov argues that wokeness stems from women becoming the majority in American institutions like law schools (56%), medical schools (55%), and publishing (77%) over four decades. He claims female-majority workplaces shift from competition and risk-taking toward consensus and emotional safety, driving censorship and weaker merit-based hiring. He calls for repealing anti-discrimination laws and restoring merit-based promotion.

Okay, folks, Rob Herzog here. Time for one of my demon grenades. Make sure you're sitting down for this one like I am. They told you that wokeness just appeared. Well, it didn't. It's the byproduct of a demographic revolution. That's right, I said demographic. Over the last 40 years or so, women have moved into every major institution, and the culture moved with them. And that's the story, and you're living in it. Let's look at the facts. Law schools— I'm talking about America primarily— are majority female. They are now. In 2023, women were about 56% of JD students in ABA schools. Medical schools are majority female. 2023 to 2024, women were about 55% of matriculants and 55% of total enrollment. And degrees are tilting female. In 2021-2022, women earned about 58-59% of bachelor's and 63% of master's degrees. Psychology flipped hard. Women earned about 75% of psychology doctorates in 2022. Judiciary is shifting. Women are 34% of US state court judges. And on the federal bench, women rose from about 27% in 2020 to 33% in 4 years. Biden-confirmed judges are 63% women. Publishing's also heavily female. Women make up 77% of US book publishing staff. And free speech attitudes diverge by gender. Among US college students, surveys show women are more supportive of censoring offensive or violent material than men. And what do these numbers mean? Okay. As institutions become more female, norms change. Priorities slide from competition to care, from rules to feelings, from risk to safety. And that's not a slur. It's a predictable shift. When incentives, hiring, and culture reset around new majorities. Let's look at campuses. Tolerance for speech drops when feelings become the metric, and that's in the data, that's in the facts. And when HR, compliance, and risk teams run the table, innovation slows and dissent is punished. This isn't progress. It's control. Globally, people say free expression is vital, but fewer believe they actually have it. And the gap is real. Freedom is admired in theory, but it's rationed in practice. There's this extraordinary woman, Helen Andrews, an author, a speaker, a cultural analyst. And yes, Helen Andrews is female. In her amazing book, Boomers, she claims that feminization is historically unprecedented and has shifted political, professional, and cultural norms from and away from masculine values—rationality, hierarchy, risk-taking, fact-based—towards feminine ones—empathy, safety, consensus, feelings. Helen Andrews equates this shift with wokeness, calling it a demographic rather than ideological phenomenon. As more women enter institutions, those institutions adopt more emotional and relational priorities. Helen Andrews argues that wokeness is the political expression of feminised moral reasoning, valuing inclusion and emotion over objectivity and rule-based justice. And she gives examples. James Damore at Google was fired for factual arguments seen as hurtful. And in 2018, Brett Kavanaugh, his hearings to the Supreme Court, and emotional testimony outweighed evidence. And this was the period of peak woke. Helen Andrews calls feminisation harmful, harmful to core institutions. In law, it undermines objectivity, and it undermines the rule of law. In academia, it replaces truth-seeking with censorship and sensitivity. And in business, it rewards HR compliance over innovation. But what about politics? Feminized compassion erodes border enforcement and national sovereignty. And this, this wasn't organic. Law, policy, and liability put a thumb on the scale. Anti-discrimination regimes and litigation risk push companies to optimize for optics, Not a good thing. And human resources, HR, grew to police tone. The HR tail started wagging the corporate dog. And when publishing or psychology becomes overwhelmingly female, as it has, the product changes. What gets approved, amplified, or canceled changes with it. You can call this progress if you like, but the result is the same. Narrower speech, softer standards, slower breakthroughs. And you think it's accidental? Why isn't this debate allowed? A taboo topic. Because gatekeepers win under the new rules. What does it mean for your future? It means courts that chase vibes over statutes. It means universities that prize compliance over truth. And it has firms that promote presentation over performance. When do the consequences hit? They already did. They already did. Look at speech rankings on campus. Look at the judiciary pipeline in America. This is now. And if you don't have an open mind, and at least consider what I'm saying, your children are going to sit with the bill. We will end up with fewer daring scientists. We will have fewer contrarian business founders. We will have much more timid and woke leaders like the dreadful Jacinda Ardern and Justin Zero Testosterone Trudeau of Canada. And even the spineless Cyril Ramaphosa, probably has zero testosterone. Zero spine. We will end up with a culture that apologizes for excellence. So what's our path forward? We must reassert first principles. We have to have laws, evidence, merit, no exceptions. Free speech is non-negotiable. We need to end legal and institutional bias favoring women. Go with merit. We need to repeal or relax anti-discrimination mandates that pressure firms to hire and promote women. Let's give it fully down to merit now. And we need to remove the thumb from the scale. Stop quota chasing. Hire and promote on performance only. We also must shrink bureaucratic vetoes. HR bureaucracies enforce feminised, conflict-averse work culture. HR is a service, not the censor. You cannot allow the HR ladies to run your business. Rebuild competitive norms, reward risk-takers, protect dissenters. And we desperately need to fix the education pipeline. We need to fund truth-seeking programs, rank schools by speech and rigor, not by politics. And we need to address the two-income trap, enable single-earner families so women can freely choose domestic life if they so desire, reducing institutional feminization organically. We cannot ever replace merit, truth, and justice with comfort, emotion, and conformity. If you do nothing, and you entrench a culture that censors, stagnates, and punishes excellence, we are in trouble. But if you speak up now, let's debate this issue, you get freer institutions, faster progress, better leaders. Now, I expect a lot of upset people from this podcast, and not just women. But you need to support the people and platforms that defend freedom, merit, and open debate, which I'm trying to create here. So spread the word. Rob herself of Truth's Report.
