Rob vs the Bootlickers | Hersov hammers News24’s media hypocrisy

Rob Hersov accuses News24 of functioning as ANC propaganda, citing double standards in doxxing, a false story about Gayton McKenzie that was quietly corrected, and missing investigations into ANC corruption. He links the outlet's editorial failures to Naspers and DSTV's millions in donations to the ANC, naming editor Adrian Basson and assistant editor Pieter du Toit as responsible.

Rob Hossoff here, and I'm going to tell you about the ANC's propaganda machine disguised as journalism. This is The Truth Report. Today I'm pulling back the curtain on South Africa's most dangerous media platform, News24, led by Adrian Basson and Peter du Toit. This so-called newsroom has become a mouthpiece for the ANC. Targeting anyone who dares challenge the establishment, especially white South Africans, coloured leaders, and opposition parties. This isn't journalism, it's political warfare in disguise. Let's start with the facts. Number 1: Doxxing double standards. Earlier in 2025, News24 doxxed a white anonymous X user known as Twitterboss. They revealed his real name, job address, and family links. Why? Because he shared a graph on poverty and birth rates. News24's Peter du Toit called the graph fake and disinformation. But here's the punchline: that exact graph was published by News24 in 2017. So much for Peter du Toit. Caught red-handed, what did News24 do? They deleted the article silently. No correction. No apology. This was a hit job. An example of News24 destroying white dissent while protecting ANC-aligned actors. Have they ever doxxed a black ANC supporter or broadcaster for spreading falsehood? Not once. 2. And now the News24 Gaytan McKenzie smear job. In July 2024, News24 runs a front-page piece headlined McKenzie's gravy train to Paris Olympics costs taxpayers. The problem? The claim was false. Imagine that for News24. Gayton McKenzie never requested the trip. He didn't fly business class. He didn't take a dozen staffers, as News24 implied. The press ombudsman ruled against News24, and they were forced to apologise. But did they issue that apology publicly? No, it was behind a paywall, quiet and hidden, and the damage to Gayton was done. The correction? Whispered. They've done this over and over, targeting DA, PA, ActionSA, anyone standing in the ANC's way. And where's the same energy for the ANC? Well, let's ask the real question. Where is News24's aggressive reporting on the corrupt ANC? Where are the front-page exposés on cadre deployment? On Eskom collapse? Or on ANC corruption in municipalities, for example. News24 are ANC bootlickers. You won't find any of these. Why? Because News24's parent company, Naspers, gave R4 million to the ANC, R2 million in 2021, R2 million again in 2024. And that's just from Naspers. Their comrade company DSTV has also given the ANC donations. Would you trust a doctor paid by the drug company? So why trust media that funds its political puppet masters? Let's talk about the lovely Adrian Basson, appointed editor-in-chief in 2016. Once hailed as an anti-corruption journalist, probably by himself, is now a race-baiting ANC political operative, a bootlicker for the ANC. Basson has repeatedly smeared white critics as far-right or racist, dismissed coloured leaders like Gaetan McKenzie as corrupt populists, and published articles without verifying facts multiple times. Been sanctioned by the Press Council? Not once, but multiple times. And Pieter du Toit, assistant editor, big buddies with Adrian, he praised the doxxing of Twatha Bas. He was entirely behind that. He mocked critics as racists, hiding behind graphs. No, that got him. And then he helped delete News24's own racist graph, which they published, they published in 2017. Pieter du Toit and Adrian Basson aren't reporters. They're protectors of ANC dominance. Let's be blunt. News24 conditions black voters to trust only the ANC. Every white critic is a racist. Every coloured leader is a puppet. And every ANC failure is a footnote, if they cover it at all. It's not journalism, it's voter manipulation, and this is manufactured loyalty, not earned trust. Recently, News24 did a hit piece on me and my podcast tour in America. I was on some of the biggest podcasters in America, and they hit record views for me calling out the ANC government for its racist and socialist policies, and corruption. News24 picked one of the podcasts that I did, the one with Epoch Times, and tried to attack some of the facts that I'd given, all of which had already been fact-checked by Epoch Times themselves and their researchers ahead of releasing the episode. Not only did the News24 article fall flat, but if you go into the comments, have a look, The majority of News24 subscribers attack News24 and its pathetic article, and not me. And the worst part? News24 do all of this under the banner of fighting disinformation. The real disinformation? News24 itself. So what can you do? Unsubscribe from News24. Every click feeds their propaganda. 2. Share this podcast. Let the world know what they are: ANC bootlickers. And 3, demand transparency. Force media houses to declare political donations with every political article. And name the propagandists: Adrian Basson, Peter du Toit. Call them for what they are. They're not journalists, they're political enforcers in the ANC's media army. They are ANC bootlickers. This has been The Truth Report. I'm Rob Hirshhoff, and I'll continue to expose the liars who manipulate our democracy.
