Why Billionaires Are Buying Silver Before The Crash
21 Nov 2025 · 42 min
Rob Moore and Kane Barron argue silver could hedge against inflation because it's more liquid than gold and has 50% industrial demand from EVs and electronics. They trace silver's history through the 2008 crash and the Hunt brothers' failed 1979 corner, then cover tax differences between silver and gold holdings.

Tell me about this.
Well, this is silver, real silver, not chocolate. And I believe this could be the future of money.
The future of money would you know.
It'S the past of money.
Yeah.
Because do you know the very first metal that became a coin was silver?
Not copper.
Silver. Copper was forged into silver by people who wanted to scam people. So people think inflation is a natural form of, you know, money depreciation. They think it's normal. Inflation is theft. Because how inflation first started was this was the first metal that was used for coins. Real money, you know, not like fake money now where a pound isn't gold and a dollar isn't silver. But back in the day, this was the first metal that was coins. There was other forms of money before coins. And then when times were hard or people wanted to get an edge, they would melt copper in just a few percent into silver. So it would be worth 3, 4% less, but you wouldn't notice. And that's what inflation is.
Damn. So I was gonna say how much is here? But we've got a little.
Yes. So if anyone can guess exactly the amount that I paid when I paid it, just so you know exactly how much is here, I'm gonna give a load of it away. I might even give a bar away. That's a kilo bar we've got. Yeah, kilo bars, five kilo bars, one ounce coins. So in the comments, if you can guess how much is here, but it has to be the amount I bought it at. I'm going to give a load of it away.
It's a pretty good offer.
Yeah.
Okay, so what's a better investment, silver or gold?
Well, to start investing silver is good because it costs a lot less than gold. I mean, you need a lot of this to equal one troy ounce of gold in value. So let's say you've only got hundreds or thousands, not tens of thousands to invest. Silver is better because one of these, well, I can't say how much, but I don't know, maybe five or six coffees just to get a coin. You can ask your friends, family and relatives for birthday, Christmas and anniversaries to stop buying you socks and pants and start buying you silver. So entry level silver is great. Also, recently there was a kind of decoupling between how silver and gold track each other. So in 2005, gold started to soar. And previously gold and silver would track at the same distance between each other.
I actually have it.
Tell us how much exactly.
It was a 60 to 1 ratio.
Right. So gold would virtually always stay 60 times more than silver. So if, if gold soared, silver would follow it at a one to a 60 to one ratio. Then it got decoupled, which meant that the prices aren't as linked anymore. So gold soared 2005, 2008. In fact, some of the banks of America are calling gold to go to $3,000 a troy ounce. It only just recently peaked at $2,000 a troy ounce. So that's big growth. And so because of that, gold went wild, but silver stayed low compared to gold. So, you know, my mentors in silver and gold and a lot of precious metal experts are predicting that it'll go up a lot and that it's undervalued compared to gold. There's other benefits of silver. Now, whilst there is more of it than gold, this has more utility. So with gold, what do we use it for? Jewelry. But in every battery you need silver and so silver has a wider usage. So of course, if the electric car movement gets bigger, you know, a lot more of this is going to be needed to be used. So therefore you could have increased demand based on supply, which could push the price up. I think there's silver in your phones. I'm pretty sure there is probably in the battery. So.
So yeah, it's roughly today, 50% of all silver is used for industry. So making things right, that'll be probably.
Mostly battery cabling, et cetera. Yeah. Whereas I can't imagine any gold is used in industry.
No. Far too expensive. Yeah, I don't really know how useful it is either.
Yeah, I'm not a physicist to know the conductive properties of silver. I know that it gets you excited when we get it out for content. And the great thing about it is it's accessible and liquid. I mean, gold is accessible and liquid, it's just more expensive. But silver is very liquid. You can trade it, you know, at or around the spot price. It's not volatile compared to other asset classes. And so actually, the reason I predicted that this could be the future of money, even though it's the past of money, is because real money is getting wiped out by inflation. So did I bring my cash? Damn it. I nearly always put cash in my pocket and I haven't got it. But since lockdown 2020 inflation figures that they'll publish 25 to 30%, and I reckon if that's what they'll publish, there's more they haven't told you. Because in the basket of goods, that is the measure of inflation, often, for example, your mortgage payments aren't in the basket of goods that they track inflation. But if you've gone from a fixed rate of 1.7% to a variable rate of 6 or 8%, then your lifestyle inflation has doubled or tripled, hasn't just gone up 25 or 30%. I bought my daughter this cooler drink from Starbucks. 5 pound 50 for the smallest one. Basically a little bit of syrup and water. And so I reckon inflation has probably in reality gone up. It's been maybe 50%. I have a rule when thinking about inflation for my own life. If the government say it's 5, I think it's 10. If the government says 10, I think it's 20. So if they're saying 25 to 30% since lockdown, then maybe it's 50 to 60% since lockdown. So that means you can buy about half with the same money. But this has gone up since lockdown. I mean, do you want to do have a little look, maybe look at silver price four years ago compared to now, or just look at silver price over the last 10 years or something like that? What have you found, Kane?
Okay, so I've got data from 2008 up until 2023. So partial data, 2024. Okay, so in 2008 it was 14.99. This is dollars an ounce. An ounce.
Silver was $15 an ounce.
Yeah. In 2008. Yeah. It then takes a big hike through the financial crash. So 2011, it sort of peaked in the last decade at $35 an ounce.
Okay, so let's go there. So it went from $15 an ounce to $35 an ounce in the crash. So let me ask you, I reckon, you know this. Why did silver almost double when most asset classes went down 30% in the crash?
Well, people lose faith, I think, in government, in real money, fiat currency. Correct.
This is real money. Yeah, yeah.
What most people would deem real money, you know, cash or digits in their bank account. Yeah, I think people lose faith in that and then that assets start going.
Down and then why does this go up then if they've, what's the relevance of silver if people have lost faith in banks and money?
Well, it's real, it's physical and it has utility.
And if cash gets hyperinflated or cash goes down a lot in value because there's countries like Cyprus and Zimbabwe where in days their currency has gone down to virtually zero. What else are you going to use for money? I mean, you, you, you'll have to go back to barter otherwise and bartering your shoes for the meat that you butcher for the candles and the, and the bread and bartering, all that in a modern society is virtually impossible. We need a form of money to increase speed and reduce friction. So that's why I predicted at the start of this content that this could be the future of money. There's enough of it for supply, there's probably not enough gold for us to turn it into currency, but there's probably enough silver. And look, I'm not an oracle, don't have a crystal ball, but if your money keeps going down in value, your cash, and you see it going down in value hard, one day you're going to go, this doesn't work for me anymore. This isn't sustainable. I have $10 today and it seems like it's going to be worth $5 in a year or two. I'm not using this as money anymore. I know really rich people who are talking about launching their own banks and going back to having gold and silver in the vault as the asset that backs the currency. So back in the day, there was only an amount of money in society that was the same as the gold in the vaults. And then the fractional reserve system was created. Very clever, by the way, whereby, let's say this is our bank. Well, we can, we can, we only have to keep this amount in the bank and we can lend and invest the rest of this and earn on it. And now most banks only have to hold 10% deposits, which means if just 11% of us want our money back, or 11% of the deposits are called in, the banks are insolvent and that's when bank runs start. And then the banks go, no, sorry, we can't afford to give you your money. And then even more skepticism and hate and riots and looting starts. Because if you think about money, for us to have paper and exchange it, there's one thing that we need to have in it. Do you know what that is?
No.
You do. Like if you're, if you're, if you're receiving paper that's worthless for your spending power and your value, what one thing do you have in it?
Belief. Yeah.
So what's, what's a level below, above belief called? What is it actually written on the notes? In God We Trust. Trust.
Mm.
Paper is only worth anything because it's worth nothing, by the way. And even the polymer notes are worth nothing. It's only worth something if we trust it.
Right.
Which is the higher level of belief. True, but where'd you look after it? Where'd you keep it?
Well, I'm not telling you where I keep myself.
Where might somebody else.
Nice try. That's why you're really doing this content with me. You want to know where I stash.
I'M just taking one coin each time until. You don't know. Yeah.
Well, I mean, here's the irony, right? Where did most people store their cash?
Well, most people don't. It's in the bank as a number.
So there's. So most people store their cash in the bank? Yeah, that's where they store it. And notice I said store. Not safe.
Why?
Because savings are degradings. Because savings go down. Inflation is higher than interest. Historically, even when interest is high, the banks don't give you it all. So your money goes down in value in the bank. So savings are degradings, this goes up. So a bank is a storage facility for your money. So you're saying, where do I store this? Well, I think it's safer to store this at home or in another city in a safety deposit box or somewhere secure that only I know. I think that's safer. Or in a vault that I believe is safe. I think that's safer than putting my cash in the bank because the banks can immediately lend it out. They can invest it. They can lend and invest 90% of your money. You believe it's insured, but is it? And if you look at the terms and conditions of your bank account, they can hold and basically freeze your money whenever they want. Essentially, your cash in the bank is now a government asset. What do you think is going to happen if there's a war? Do you think they're just going to give all your money back? What do you think is going to happen if there's riots and looting and they've got all your money? Well, actually, they haven't, because 90% of it is loaned out and invested. Are they just gonna go? Yeah, I'll tell you what, they're gonna be in their war room. You know, 10 Downing Street. There'll be a vault war room. You know, we're all thinking about World War 3 and they're gonna go, the first thing we need to do is pay Kane Barron and Rob Moore their savings back. What the fuck? Of course they're not. And this is very real. And people are not aware of what's really going on.
Can you.
Let's go back to the silver. We haven't finished the silver price. Yeah.
Okay. So.
Went from $15 to $34 more than doubled through the.
That was.08 to 11.
Yeah.
Right. Then we take a bit of a dip. So it goes down to 23, 19. 15. 15 is the lowest. That's in 2015.
Yeah, it's 15. Probably when the economy was really good.
Yeah. Absolutely. And then it's been a slow gain each year we went to.
You can't say how much it is today because otherwise they'll work it out.
Yeah.
Okay, so remember how much silver is here? If you can guess it exactly, you're getting a load of it.
So 2015, it's 1566. 2016 is 17. 17.
It'S a lot more now. Should we just say that?
Yeah, in 2020. Okay, so this is the interesting one from 2019. 2019, it's just over $16 an ounce. In 2020, it jumps up to just under $21 an ounce again during uncertainty world lockdowns.
And mark my words, all these billionaires liquidating. So the big short guy, Michael Lewis, soldiers all of his assets. You know, a lot of people, like for example, Harry Dent or Robert Kiyosaki, you know, they call the recession and crash 17 years out of 18 and they probably make tens of millions selling courses, doing that. And you know, a clock is always right twice a day. So I listen to them because I listen to people who I deem have got experience, but I take it with a pinch of salt. But when a billionaire doesn't just say a crash is coming, they sell all their assets and just hold cash ready and waiting, you know, what you say is different to what you do. So the big short guy who shorted the last recession and made billions, he's liquidated in cash. Warren Buffett sold 7 or 8 billion of bank of America, which is where cash is held. Have you got something on this?
I saw something yesterday, the day before. The Bezos just sold like hundreds of millions of Amazon stockers, right?
Wow, these headphones. Hedge Henge fund, you can keep that in David. These hedge fund billionaires, same thing, they're all calling a global financial crisis. So here's the irony, right? Anyone who invests in silver, who's smart, hopes it never goes up.
Why?
This recent budget should warn you that your pension is not safe and secure and they're coming for your inheritance.
Do you even know how much is.
In your pension or where your pension is invested? Add to this the recent inheritance tax grab on your pensions and the risk.
Of a market crash. You probably didn't know this and I.
Didn'T until recently, but physical gold can be added to your pension pot Gold is inheritance tax free and has grown 700% in the last 20 years.
Years.
You probably know from my content I'm investing heavily in silver and gold. And that's why I've partnered with Direct bullion myself and Nigel Farage are brand ambassadors and direct bullion can help you with gold to protect and grow your pension. As you know, I don't do many strategic partnerships and when I do, I do them with people who are credible, who've been doing it a long time, who invest in things that I invest into. And gold and silver's going wild. I'm investing heavily in gold and silver.
And I recommend you check out robmore.directbullion.com sorry, I'm quizzing you on this.
Yeah, yeah, I'm learning today.
Yeah. So anyone who really knows money invests a decent amount of their net worth in silver and gold and hopes it never goes up.
I'm assuming looking at this is because the only time that goes up is when the world is in the toilet.
Yes. Well, it goes up over and above inflation. It beats inflation. So you're guaranteed over time for it to beat inflation and therefore maintain or slightly go up in value compared to cash and fiat currency, which goes down. But this booms when all the other asset classes bust. And the worse the other asset classes are, the, the worse the global financial crisis or even the depression, the more useful this is and the more valuable this is. So this is a very good defensive protecting investing strategy. It will go up and then there will be recessions, depressions and global crashes. They're all getting called right now. So it's a great time to get in. But you buy it and hope it doesn't go up.
Do you have to buy it physically or are there like funds you can invest in?
Yeah, you can buy gold and silver and ETFs, but for me it kind of negates the point of it isn't the point that it's real and gold and silver over time? You in ETFs don't do as well as the S&P 500 or the FTSE 100. So why wouldn't you just. If you're going to invest in something that you don't hold on to physically, why wouldn't you invest in the S&P 500 or the FTSE 100? Because, you know, I think, I think you're pretty safe to assume they'll do 8% a year. And they're also very liquid. So for me, the point of this is that you've got it, that it's real. Because if there's a recession, depression and crash, anything that you don't physically hold is at risk because someone else has got it. You can buy it physical, but have it stored in someone else's vault and you'll pay, what, a percent of the value of it in vault rental? But again, who owns the vaults?
The banks.
Who's got your money in the banks? The banks. So, you know, why would you want to take that risk? And the great thing about this, unless you do bloody content on it like I am, is no one knows you've got it. Yeah. Oh, and you can. And you can own it as a company asset. So there's loads of other benefits of holding.
What are the tax implications of holding this in your company?
Well, it's the same as any other form of capital or income. So if you buy it and sell it, there's often capital gains tax. But actually, just check it, just check. Is there capital gains tax on silver and gold? Because I have a feeling, I mean, I don't sell them, so it's not a concern for me. I mean, it will be one day. But I'm pretty sure there's capital gains reliefs on silver.
I think there's certain allowances, though.
Well, there's VAT on silver. There isn't on gold. You can claim the VAT back on silver, owning it in a company. I am pretty sure there's no capital.
This recent budget should warn you that your pension is not safe and secure and they're coming for your inheritance.

Capital Gains Tax on silver.
Supposedly there is on gold and silver bars, but not coins. They've made this really complicated.
Of course, to find any tax breaks is not just going to be on page one top of Google, is it? Of course there's definitely ways to offset capital gains tax. Speak to a good accountant. Your question. Back to your question.
Sorry, I've gone down the tax loophole.
Get off that.
Have you ever heard of the Hunt brothers?
I don't think we finished the tax question. What was it initially?
What are the tax implications?
So do your research. But I'm pretty sure there's no capital gains tax on silver. You can claim the VAT back on silver. There's. There's no VAT on gold. It depends on if you hold it in a company or personally. If you hold it in a company, it's pre tax. If you hold it personally, it's post tax. You can own silver in a company, just like you can put the cash in a company in the stock market. And it's real, it's physical. Obviously it doesn't have an income, so there's no income tax. And you could just hold it in the company and wait till the tax laws change. Because when the governments need a load of money off you, they'll close a load of the tax loopholes. When they realize all the millionaires and billionaires have left and they need to attract them back, they'll open up the tax loopholes again. Like Portugal, they opened up a tax loophole, brought loads of entrepreneurs in, then they shut it. Now they're doing it again. They're thinking about no tax in year one for under 35, which I think is a brilliant. Have you cut out the pause? It's a brilliant policy. Yeah.
Isn't it? Proposed that capital gains meant to go up to 39%.
Oh, in America. Yeah. These bloody lefty wokey Kamala Harris is. They're proposing capital gains tax goes from 20% to 39, which will be catastrophic for the economy. It'll cause an immediate global financial crisis. All the billionaires are calling it they're even looking at taxing you on unrealized gains, which means you've got a company and the tax office, the irs, the HMRC deem that that company is worth a million and you haven't drawn any money from it because you're trying to reinvest and build it. And they'll charge you 250 grand in tax, 25% unrealized gain tax. I mean, if they do that, that's the biggest scam. I mean, tax as a whole is a bit of a scam, Inflation is a bit of a scam, but that would be the worst scam ever. Next, there'll be taxi your thoughts and taxing the air that you breathe. Because company valuations are up and down. They're all paper based. They're not real. Money is only real once you've drawn it. And to tax undrawn money, massive con. They'll be, there'll be the biggest revolution and writing ever if that happens.
Like Facebook was pre revenue, not profit. Pre revenue for seven years, but Shazam was for 15. Really? Yeah.
Shazam made no money for 15 years. Facebook, no money for seven years. Now people can argue whether Shazam sold to Apple for 400 million. Facebook, you know, multi billion dollar company. People can argue whether they're valuable or not, but they clearly are valuable to humanity, otherwise they wouldn't have got that big. Those companies would have failed with unrealized tax gains. All companies will fail with unrealized tax gains. And most entrepreneurs, they don't draw money for the first few years because they're pumping the money back in to reinvest for growth. Taking all this risk is, it's an absolute scam. And I'm really glad, you know, Donald Trump's calling it out. All the billionaires are calling it out. Nonsense.
What percentage of your assets do you hold in a company versus personally?
Oh, I mean, I haven't got it. I do track my net worth on a spreadsheet. I couldn't tell you the exact percentage, but obviously I own multiple companies and multiple property portfolios in multiple companies, so it would definitely be a higher percentage of my net worth is in companies. Now, property companies, it's very easy to value them. You can get a valuation. So I own 100 apartment block in one property company. I own a 36 apartment block in another property company. I own dozens of individual units, maybe even hundred in another property company and I can get a valuation on them. And then you can see what your debt is and, and then you can get a fairly fixed multiplier of that and work out what's that that's worth. That's really easy. It's more beneficial from a tax perspective to hold as many of your assets as you can in a company because as soon as you own it personally, well, you'd probably have to have a taxable event to take it from company to personal. So you're going to possibly get income tax. And there's all sorts of at this point when it comes to properties and owning it personally on a company, there's loads of nuanced information. Just write property in the comments if you are serious about investing in property or you have property. Because I could probably hook you up with account an accountant. Not if you're a newbie. But it gets to the point where I need to speak to my advisors, then I've got. So that's property companies fairly easy to value as soon as I sell them. I've got capital gains tax, I've already paid corporation tax. Then the income is drawn into the company or remains in the company and I don't have to pay income tax until I draw it out of the company. My training businesses, progressive property, progressive success, etc. They're a different beast. Valuing them is more volatile. They were probably at 12 times profit multipliers three years ago, four years ago. They're probably at 6 to 8 times profit multipliers now because the world's different. And my current goal is to run as many legitimate expenses through those companies as possible and draw as little income as possible. Because as soon as I draw income, it's 45% tax for me. So I pay 25% corporation tax and then leave as much cash in that company as possible. And then anything I draw I've got to pay 45% income on. Now over the years when the income tax wasn't as high, I was drawing a lot more. And then buying personal assets, right now I'm not doing as much of that. And then as the income tax goes up, I'll hold even more in the company. As the income tax goes down, I'll draw more out. And I'm even happy to say this to the governments, if they made tax a flat 25%, I'd start drawing a load of money. I'd happily pay them their 25% which means a shit ton of money would flood out into the economy, which means they raise a lot more in tax revenue. Obviously I'd spend and invest more, but right now the tax is too penal.
So it really depends on the Tax at the time on whether you hold more personally or in the company.
Yeah. And what tax breaks and reliefs there are or aren't at the time?
Because there's a lot of. There's a lot of great tax loopholes for property. Right. Within limited companies.
Yes.
Is that why everybody does it?
Well, sort of. Because it's so penal to own it personally. So on the one hand, you can say, oh, there's great tax benefits in a company, or you can say, it's so not worth it to do it personally. There's various reliefs that have been closed and they're threatening more, but soon enough there'll be more that will open. And if they don't open in your country or your state, go to another state. Loads of people are moving from the west coast of America to Texas. People are moving from England to Dubai to Portugal because the tax reliefs are so much better in other countries.
Okay, so if you've got a few.
Hundred, remember we're on silver.
Yeah, that's I'm looping about. So if you've got a few hundred or a few thousand pounds to invest, is silver your number one choice?
If you want something that's your own, that no one can take, that you can hide, that's real, and you believe there is a recession, depression or global financial crisis coming, and you want something easy to learn and easy to start in, and even things that can be given to you as gifts. Silver's one of the best places to start, I'd say. So is doing a direct debit for 100 or 200amonth into the S&P 500 or FTSE 100. But at least this is physical and real and likely to go up more as markets crash. And so many of these massive billionaires are calling the crash right now. In fact, in London, Knightsbridge and Chelsea are down 40%. Chelsea's price is back to 2016. So in 2015, silver had gone up from 15 an ounce to 30 odd. And then real estate in London started to drop significantly. Now, look, by the way, I'm not sitting here going, silver is better than everything else because at least with real estate you can leverage. So I have a portfolio with tens of millions, have 55% loan, 45% equity. I wouldn't have been able to buy tens of millions of real estate without the bank's money. So I don't have tens of millions of silver because I'd have had to buy it for tens of millions. There's not the leverage, and I can't use the bank's money, which I like using the. The bank's money. Here's one for you. If you borrow a million pounds from the bank, you have the problem. If you borrow £100 million from the bank, the bank has the problem. And that's the way I like to play the banks. I've got a lot of debt with the banks, good debt. And yeah, there's a problem for them if something happens to me and not if they lend you little bits. So silver is good for hedge against a recession. Physical, protected, hidden, decentralized. We haven't talked about that yet.
Go.
What about if you like the concept of bitcoin and you like the concept of decentralization and sovereignty and a lack of control, of counseling you. You know, the debanking thing, it's very real. My friend Nigel Farage, nine bank accounts shut down. Even his family couldn't open a bank account. How's that right that you can't even have a bank account. So, you know, they control you. They can debank you, they can cancel you, they can freeze your banks. Whereas crypto and silver and gold. Well, actually, I was going to say they can't do it. They're kind of starting to do it with crypto now. I mean, they've got. They're now starting to get their claws into your cryptos. But your silver, your gold, no one knows how much you've got. No one knows where you've got it.
Don't tell anybody where it's stored.
Don't tell anyone where it's stored. We are in a secret location. Can you see this black background? You know, I am. I did a piece of content with a million pounds worth of gold. And we went to a secret location. We had to have security and everything. We're basically inside a vault. But where we could get an Internet connection when we did this. Damn. Yeah. And we had to be really careful when we were setting up, like, they had to sign off what the. You know, where we were filming, what it looked like, just in case there was a little bit of a color there. And someone could have worked out which company it was and where we were storing it. It was really fascinating. It's good fun.
Damn. All right, let me ask you a question. Would you buy silver in a leveraged way like you do property, if you could?
Yeah. Yeah. I would leave her up on all assets if they were historically proven to go up.
So I'll circle back to a question I asked you earlier. Have you heard of the Hunt brothers?
Tell me about the Hunt brothers.
This I found out today. I clearly I'm a silver nerd now. So I'm getting into it. So Nelson, William Nelson and William Hunt, they were American guys, son of some oil billionaire in the 70s. So they tried to corner the market of silver. They tried to buy all of it. And in January 1979 to January 1980, they bought a third of all silver.
Wow. And that, I mean that must have been, if inflation adjusted, billions, surely.
Well, it was 150 million ounces of silver.
Okay, Right. Just come here. Because I'm not allowed to say, right, we're just going to work something out here. Okay. But that's not finished because we've got to inflation adjust it.
Yeah.
So do it by time. I'm gonna roughly guess do it by times seven. I bet you can't even. Will the calculator work it out on perplexity?
It will.
We're just trying to work out how much a third of all the silver was in 79 and 80. I mean inflation adjusted it should. So it's 2 to the 4,00000000 times.
7, which is that highlighted 1.
So the answer is 16 AO. Oh, someone can tell us how much that is in billions or trillions. That would be fun.
It's 11 digits.
All right, so nine figures is 100 mil. Nine figures is 100 million. Ten figures is therefore a billion. So it sounds like tens of billions.
Yeah.
All right. Okay. Anything else you want to ask me about silver or talk about silver?
Oh, so the reason I bring that up. So basically they mostly they were leveraged and they were buying futures and they were borrowing money. So they went from, in one year from nothing to a third of the market. And then within by March, so three months, they got margin, called and went bankrupt.
I was going to say like the problem with levering up like that is if you have any downward movement.
Yeah, you're. Yeah.
So yeah, it is insane. And I probably would leave up or leave her up a bit on silver and gold. And the thing with leverage is don't over leverage and be careful not to leverage on volatile unproven classes. People were levering crypto. They were finding out ways to leverage crypto. And of course because that's so volatile, that's really dangerous. So look at what the banks like. The banks like real estate. The banks used to like gold. The only reason they don't really hold that much gold now is just reduces their ability to print money. So and of this storage challenges. So obviously when they came off the gold standard. It just meant that they could dramatically grow the economy. Dramatically. Print money. They didn't have the cap on because in a way, I've knocked the fiat currency system because it goes down in value. But if you can create money, you can fuel an economy. You can also fund wars. We should talk. We should do another episode. Because silver and gold and money printing for the banks and governments previously have been used to fund wars.
It's a can of worms.
Yes, it is. Well, I mean, imagine if the government sent out a memo to us all saying, we'd like to go into World War Three. We request a tax rise of 92% to fund this war. Please tick the box to say you agree. Of course they can. No one would do it. So they have to find backdoor ways to fund wars. And it's, you know, borrowing and money printing. And do you know, in the past, this is one thing you've got to be wary of. In the past, governments have recalled gold. They've basically made it illegal for you to hold it and called it in because they need to fund wars. Anyway, on that note, thanks for tuning in. Remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
