I Support Labour in This Tax Hike

Rob Moore supports raising the remote gambling tax from 15% to 21%, arguing sin taxes on gambling, smoking and drinking fund wasteful spending better than taxing workers. He believes government wastes 15% of its budget and entrepreneurs should stay tax-friendly to drive growth.

I support Labour in this tax hike. Now stay with me a moment. I'm not sure I've supported many Labour policies. Now I'm much more a fan of managing a budget better. They have more than a trillion of our money that they use and they spend on public services, and I think 15% could quite simply be saved. £150 billion could be managed better, I believe, because anyone can go into a bloated organisation and save 15% of wasted spend if they know what they're doing. So I'm much more of a fan of that. But let's just agree, let's suspend disbelief and assume that they do have to put taxes up. Because, you know, some economists are saying they have to put taxes up. I mean, I don't think they do, but let's say they do. I've been trying to think about where they could do this, where it could work. And I actually support them in an area that they're proposing, which is getting a lot of pushback. So at first I thought, well, they're taxing the rich and all the rich are leaving. So what about if they tax the lower earners? I did a post about that. I got a lot of hate, as you can imagine. But, you know, when you earn £25,000, you're only paying a couple of grand in tax. When you earn £150,000, you're paying £53,000 in tax. So there is a case that the lower earners could all pay a very small amount each, which probably wouldn't affect their life too much and could generate a lot of revenue for the government. Now here's the problem: we'll generate them billions more in tax and they'll go and waste it. So they'll dump it into the bottomless NHS. The police is in a right mess. So I'm not really a fan of tax increases, but I'm trying to help here. But the government have proposed an increase on gambling, and I am a fan of that. Look, I know things like horse racing, you know, it has heritage and history going back hundreds of years, and I'm all for entertainment. We're humans, we need some entertainment, especially right now. But gambling is sinister, it is nefarious. You know, I did a Disruptors podcast interview with someone who kind of went against the gambling industry. And, and they throw free bets at you and they lure you in, and it's supposed to be fair and free game, but if you beat them, then they ban you. So you can't win, but they can't lose. And, you know, it's a gateway drug to everything else, and you end up wasting all your money. If any of you watching now have ever got caught increasing gambling— and it's probably one of the most addictive things, um, and Paul Merson, who was on my show, said gambling for him was more addictive than drugs. So I think gambling is just— I just really don't like it, I don't agree with it. And so the government have proposed to increase the tax on— the remote gambling tax for horse racing. Online gambling is 21% remote tax, horse racing remote tax is 15%. They're proposing to put it up in line to 21%, and of course British Horse Racing have kicked off, gone wild. I can understand it from their point of view, it's going to hurt their industry, Um, but I support it actually. I support, um, taxing more gambling, smoking, drinking. I support taxing the heck out of all the things that are really bad for society, and I support reducing tax for all the things that are good for society. And businesses grow the economy, employment— these things are good for society. Getting people on apprenticeships I saw this viral post about, you know, electricians earning £750 a day and all these sort of practical trades earning £500, £600, £700 a day, and a load of people kicking off. I think it's really good. I think they should earn really well. We need them. Apparently we need to build £1.5 million homes. So I support anything that's good for humanity and growth and the economy and can help this country and build it back to make Britain great again. And they need to stop taxing all those people. Those small business owners, those entrepreneurs, they need to leave them alone. But gambling, smoking, drinking, all of that, they should go for that. They should collect extra billions on that, in my humble opinion. Now look, I know horse racing is entertainment and it's important for a lot of people, but you know, a lot more industries are taxed a lot more. And look, I'm just not a fan of gambling at all. Um, it's sort of like the thing where it's like, oh, just have one drink. I don't drink and drive, I'll just have one drink. Can you just have one bet? I mean, there's a lot of discipline required, and people aren't taught in school how to manage their money emotions and their money discipline. They're not taught how bad gambling is. I know someone who betted his entire deposit for his house away. It ruins lives, and that should— they should tax that stuff more. So I believe that you should stop gambling, stop wasting and spending money on things that make other people billions, and start investing in yourself. I believe you should educate yourself. You should learn how to store and then invest your money. You should learn about assets. You should learn about how to build a mobile lifestyle, how to build an online business and take control of your life rather than gambling and, you know, playing the lottery. I don't think the lottery should be taxed if a lot of the money is going into our country. But forget the lottery, forget gambling. You know, you should bet on yourself. That's the only thing you should ever bet on. And if you want to bet on yourself, I recommend you join money.school. So money.school is not a gamble, it's an education platform, and I've designed it to teach everything about business and money and personal finances and investing that the school system doesn't teach you, that the mainstream banking system probably doesn't want you to know. So if you'd like to gain access to hundreds of hours of courses, resources, and masterclasses, to make, manage, and multiply money. And instead of it costing you thousands in gambling or taxes, costs you less than 50p a day. You can cancel anytime, there's no ongoing contract, immediately accessible. Start a business anywhere in the world on, what, £50, something like that, if you start a certain type of business and build multiple streams of income. So the link is money.school. I've just typed it in there, money.school. School, and I spend more on coffee in 24 hours than it costs you for a month's membership of money.school. It will cost you 99.9% more— well, it'll cost you 0.1% of what a college degree costs to be a member of money.school for the same amount of time. So when it comes to value for money, I don't think there's anything better. And you can try it, and if it's not for you, you can leave. But let's say you want to start an online business. Let's say you want to start a low-cost, high, high-margin, high-speed business. Let's say you want to build multiple streams of income. Let's say you want to learn how to invest money. Money.school is for you. Just go to money.school. You just need to type in money.school. Simple as that. So let me know what you think. I actually support Labour in their proposal to increase tax on betting, on I think that that industry probably isn't regulated as much as it should be. I don't like all these celebrities supporting gambling firms, and I think it's— gambling is one of the things that ruins people's lives the most, and people should speak out about it more. I do. They're big, powerful, billion-dollar corporations. I guess they would say, oh well, if we didn't do it, other people would do it anyway, and human beings need to be entertained. And it is a market. I kind of understand that markets are markets, but it's just not a market I'd ever want to be in. I'd rather teach you how to bet on yourself. And if you want to bet on yourself, join money.school. If you're thinking about joining and you haven't joined yet, you're not taking a bet on yourself. It only costs you 50p a day. You could spend more on 3 large coffees than you would inside money.school. No, I don't smoke. No, I don't gamble. And I have the odd champagne. Every now and again when I celebrate, which isn't very much. So I practice what I preach. So I'll see you inside. Oh, and by the way, I've been an entrepreneur and investor for 20 years. We've done pushing 300 mil in sales in nearly 20 years. Got 345 rental units and buying a load more as we speak. So, you know, I'd only ever talk about or teach what I know. Thanks for tuning in. I'll see you inside money.school. Just type it in on the internet, money.school. And remember, if you don't risk anything, you risk everything.
