Hi, my name is Timothy Hsiao and I'm the Director of Chemistry at Emeryville Pharmaceutical Services. Today I'd like to tell you about our chemistry services and also a little bit about myself. I've worked as a medicinal chemist at Nova Bay Pharmaceuticals making agonoside antimicrobial compounds and at Sinesis Pharmaceuticals making inhibitors for PTP1B. Having learned, worked with, and also taught a variety of analytical techniques over the years, my mission now is to make these techniques available for all organic chemists. Emeryville Pharmaceutical Services NMR Spectrometer is a broker 400 MHz machine purchased new in 2009. We have a broadband probe which allows us to take heteronuclear NMR spectra of almost any nucleus of interest. To date we've run fluorine, phosphorus, carbon, nitrogen, chlorine 35 and boron spectra. We also have a variable temperature unit. The machine is used to its fullest capabilities. To date we've run cosy Toxi, Nosy Rosy, HSQC, HMBC, DOSY and T1 and T2 measurements. But our real strength is being able to come up with custom experiments to fit your needs. On our blog, for instance, is some data showing how we can use proton phosphorus HMBC to assign the phosphorus signals in ATP. We love challenges, so call us with your NMR problems.
