Richard Johnson reports on a three-month study where early Alzheimer's patients on a keto diet kept their cognition and daily functioning stable while control patients declined. Quality of life improved on keto. Johnson suggests the fructose pathway may explain why.

So keto diets are actually a way to reduce carbs and should theoretically be beneficial. And this is a really cool paper where they took patients with Alzheimer's and they were randomized in a crossover double blind study to be on a keto diet or not. And look at what happens. Cognition stayed stable on the keto diet, where it started to drift down in the controls activity of daily living, basically how they how well you function stable, whereas the control diet actually worsened over the three months and quality of life actually improved. I think keto diets may be a fantastic mechanism, a way to help early Alzheimer's. I really recommend people to consider this. I think the fructose pathway really looks very strong as a mechanism.
