Roy Abdo helps businesses figure out why they matter and tell that story to the right people through messaging, branding, and digital channels. He walks clients through discovering their real value, crafting the message, and placing it where their audience will find it. At VIU he teaches marketing the same way: students build actual companies, create the branding, and talk to real mentors instead of reading theory.

All those items, we recently worked on them. And the idea was, as I mentioned in the past, like, people don't want to get food, they want an experience. And look what we designed, those like 3-dips experience for them and the presentation. Aren't you hungry now? I always get this question from you: what do I do? I help the world communicate. So whenever you come to me, I help you and I coach you, create the best message so your audience, your clients, can fit and understand how and how you help them. And how do I do that? We sit down and understand your value proposition and help you figure out the best way to say it and where to say it, to who to say it, and we figure out why you do it. And once we do that, we start looking at your website, your Facebook, your advertising, your marketing, and creating a good positioning for your brand, for your service in the eyes of your client so you can have better conversions. That's pretty much what I do. I hope you like my channel. I hope you like my content. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you and helping you the best that I can. How you been, by the way? Good, man. How's life? By the way, another great marketeer. Follow him. What's your Instagram handle? @markhimself_. @markhimself_. Where do you teach? I teach Intro to Marketing and Advertising. Okay. At VIU. And the reason why I love teaching— I mean, I hated school, going to school, because it was so boring and so theoretical. What I wanted to do in my class, and I came back to teach those classes because I wanted to make it more practical. And here's how I do it. So once I come into the class, you know, we do the intros and the first question I ask you is, tell me about a company you wanna start. Tell me what dream you have. Like, hey, I wanna do, you know, a staffing agency. I wanna do a construction company. I'm like, awesome. That's gonna be your class project for the entire semester. So, and then let's say we take a class in marketing, we learn about, let's say branding and visuals. You have to create the branding and visuals for your own company. Then the next exercise is gonna be, hey, you know, I wanna build up the marketing material. Like you gotta actually write the copy for that marketing material. Then I actually make you go and interview people in the industry already, kind of like pick up mentors for yourself. Like, hey, pick up the phone and call 10 people, and if you, you know, at least you're going to hear from one person, and that person, go interview them, see, you know, how can they help you, or give you the advice. Because right now, you know, no one's going to invest in you because you know nothing, right? But if I know that you've talked to all the brightest and brilliant, most brilliant people in the industry, I know that you, you know, like did all the research on it, and you kind of figure out something different, and then I call— Exactly. One thing I like about Washington is there's so many people that need help here. There's a lot of business, there's a lot of clients. You should figure out where to go find them. And if not DC, you can help anyone if you actually have— if you actually can position yourself in a way to understand where do you help them with. And that's what I tell people, it's all about positioning. What is positioning? Is what do you want to be remembered in someone else's mind as what— where do you fit in in their life to help them get somewhere.
