In this solo episode of the SMBL Consulting podcast, Ruth Kusemiju addresses entrepreneurs who often misidentify the root cause of their business challenges. She argues that most issues stem from flawed strategy and planning rather than execution. Kusemiju outlines two foundational principles—knowing exactly what you’re building and keeping the approach simple—before introducing a four‑step client‑journey framework: (1) pick a strategy (even if it’s an educated guess), (2) unpack your ideas, (3) create an executable blueprint, and (4) implement. She stresses the importance of crystal‑clear reporting to enable data‑driven decisions and advocates rapid idea testing, encouraging entrepreneurs to move from concept to live test within hours rather than weeks. The episode concludes with a call to engage via comments and social media, inviting listeners to share feedback, suggest topics, and subscribe.

Hi guys, welcome to 2022, and this is SMBL Consulting, and we are back again with our podcast. Yes, so today's secret sauce, basically, um, you know, we're all about helping entrepreneurs, and so, um, one thing we realize, I mean, in this new year and past experiences with entrepreneurs is that they have a problem, but it's not always what they think it is. So I mean, don't stop there if you're an entrepreneur, just keep on listening. There's a great point here. Now, most entrepreneurs actually think that, um, they have an implementation problem or whatever problem they may have, but they don't. Um, the problem that I think they have is a strategy problem and a planning problem. Yes. So, um, there are 2 basics every entrepreneur needs to get right out of the gate. One is that know what you're building. I mean, no insane— I mean, rather, no sane home builder actually would randomly begin hammering and sawing without plans, and neither should a business owner start punching buttons without a clear plan spelled out. And 2? Keep it simple. Now I'm going to talk a little bit about the client journey. Now that, um, client conversion concept is what, um, really this client journey is all about. I mean, no matter what business you're in or whatever we're talking about, for every entrepreneur, the whole goal is more of the right clients acquired more easily, right? Not just doing mass marketing but acquiring the right clients more easily. Now there's a 4-step process which, um, should help you, um, so to speak, like pick the best strategy that you can and then drive it home with lightning speed. So the first strat— um, step would be picking your strategy. Now just, um, own the fact that probably this is a guess, all right? So you, you may not know for certain that it's the right choice. But you pick the one that makes the most sense. Okay. Second will be unpack your brain. Um, that's just exactly what it sounds like. Get it all out because next you're going to create, which is number 3, an executionable blueprint. And here's what we need to go build. If you don't have a blueprint, you can't build. And last but not the least, which is do the implementation. Now this is all geared towards achieving crystal clear reporting on everything that happens throughout the entire client journey. I mean, when I say crystal clear, as a business owner, look at it and know what decision you're going to make based on that. And this is where a lot of entrepreneurs struggle with all the time. I mean, you may not have, um, you tend to not have a reporting matrix of what's going on in your business, and it's really, really a big deal when you're not able to look at the numbers and see what's working and what's not working. So, um, you might be asking, so as an entrepreneur, what can I do right now? So you have a lot of ideas running through your head every second, every day. So filter all those great ideas and then decide, um, which, um, what is the next best decision for your business. Then you jump on it, get it live and tested as soon as possible. That's what I would advise, because this is the small hinge that swings the big door. And if you, if you can do it very fast, I mean hours instead of weeks, you can actually burn through 15 to 20 ideas in a matter of a week. Whereas somebody else who has one idea that's been half built after two weeks. So what I'm just trying to say in summary, if you're asking what do I do right now, is just do it. So that's it for today, and that's it for the episode on SMBL Consulting. I will see you on the next episode, and take care, guys.
