54% of New Enterprise Customers Bought Without Talking to Sales

In this talk, Jason M. Lemkin contrasts product‑led growth with sales‑led growth and explains why his company abandoned the old belief that enterprise purchases must be gated by a human salesperson. Early in 2026 the team launched an enterprise self‑service MVP (January) and moved it to production (February), treating self‑service as a core part of the buying journey rather than a downgrade. All inbound leads are enriched and qualified by AI agents Claude and Clay. Depending on the qualification, leads enter one of two parallel funnels: a self‑serve path guided by Intercom’s Finn that provisions, trains, and enrolls customers automatically, or a traditional sales path where qualified leads go to Business Development Representatives (BDRs) and then Account Executives (AEs). Since the launch, 54 % of new enterprise logos in 2026 have been acquired through the self‑serve funnel, demonstrating the effectiveness of the product‑led approach.
