A short YouTube monologue (Phil Powis) advising that after initial excitement for a big decision or project, unpleasant sensations (anxiety, overwhelm, frustration) commonly follow and should not be suppressed. Instead, the speaker recommends embracing negative feelings as grounding energy, processing them through the body—examples: running, yoga, gym—to build a stronger foundation for growth. The piece includes personal testimony that this approach helped during life transitions.

Have you noticed that usually after you say a big yes to yourself or big yes to a new project, the feelings that come right after the big excitement are usually not pleasant feelings, and that's totally normal. But the mind tries to push that away. So we label them anxiety, we call overwhelming, we call sometimes even frustration. And inwards, like, we don't know why we react this way, but we want to push them away. We don't want to feel them because it's not a pleasant sensation in the body. But often I talk about the spiral upwards in life, that we are always like evolving and constantly moving up. So this is actually an invitation for you to ground yourself, to build a strong foundation so you can move up. So the key is not to push the feeling away because the negative will always be there. So you could use the negative to actually take you down. And then you, like, go back to the old version of yourself and you're like, I don't want to deal with the discomfort. Or you can just take the negative, what we call negative, because at the end of the day it's just energy, but this unpleasant sensation in your body and work through it. So the first step for you to move upwards in this spiral will be embrace the negative, embrace the pain, embrace the discomfort. Don't try to push it away because it's actually grounding you. It's very important to use this energy so the stronger your foundation is higher you can go. So instead of thinking or trying to think your way out of the sensation, if you run, go for a run. If you do yoga, work that energy on the yoga mat. So use your body to work the energy to get that energy moving. Instead of trying to think your way out or like the thoughts that usually come, it's like, why am I feeling this way? I'm not worth it. I shouldn't be doing that. Why didn't even bother starting doing this new project, accepting this new adventure. So don't put yourself down, just work with the energy because there is a purpose. But you will not be able to work that with your thoughts. You got to work with your body, embrace the negative, go to the yoga mat, go for a run, maybe go to the gym and allow that feeling to just dissipate, but not because you are thinking it, because you're feeling it. This is a very powerful message. It has helped me a lot, especially like in all the transitions that I've been lately in my life life. And it's always getting better and better because I'm learning to embrace the negative. It's really powerful. Thank you so much, and have a beautiful week.
