Hey movers, it's Sally Z with Be Moved. Let's go create some talks that will move this world. We're gonna talk with amazing speakers, share tips, tricks, resources, and we are going to be moved so that our audience can be moved. This moved me. What is moving Are we using this right now?
Yeah, I mean, but you want— do you want me to do like a, "Hi, movers!"?
Sure, yes, Andy.
Okay, all right, so now we begin.
We have begun. Okay, I like the before chit-chat, which you would know if you listen to my podcast.
Oh, I know that.
All right, all right. I am drinking my coffee.
I don't have any coffee.
Oh, um, I did bring you coffee.
You did bring me coffee, which is really nice.
All right.
Hi, movers! Uh, welcome to This Move Me with a little different voice for at least a little bit this morning. Uh, this is Andy Zimney, the, uh, head of operations at This Move Me, and more importantly, Sally's husband.
Well, actually, Andy, you are head of operations at Be Moved.
Be Moved, which is—
heyo!—
big part of the conversation today and part of why, uh, I am hosting this episode, because there's big changes afoot here at, uh, this Move Me.
Yep.
Or Be Moved.
Well, it's both now.
It's both.
Well, the podcast will stay, This Moved Me.
Yes. Yeah.
And the company and the website and—
You're getting a little ahead of us. So let's— we're going to talk about some changes coming here shortly. But first, to just sort of set the stage here a little bit, Sally, who of course is here as well, tell us a bit. Just tell us like the 2-minute origin story of This Moved Me.
Okay, well, so 4 or 5 years ago, I, I was coaching speakers on a consulting basis and really loving it and had this desire to make a podcast. And so as I was dreaming about names and really thinking about really the core of my work, it was around, and still is, around moving your audience. And I thought it would be really interesting to have a a conversation via a podcast on what moves us. So I named my podcast This Moved Me, and I've loved it, really enjoyed it. And eventually, as I— as my consulting practice really grew and my coaching continued to grow and become something real, not just this thing that I love to do outside of my job, I needed to name my company, so I just took the name of my podcast and it became the name of my company. And that was great for a long time, but now I'm in a different spot, a different place, and it called for a new name, which I'm jazzed about.
I'm trying to look up your library here. This is more than 4 or 5 years ago, I think.
I don't even— I don't remember.
I think you've been at this a lot longer than you realize.
Really? I feel like this last year was kind of a vacuum. I sort of went internal to work on the business, which is what we're talking about.
So episode 000.
Yeah.
Was October 22nd, 2014. No!
2014.
2014.
Oh my gosh.
It was sort of an intro. And October 26th, 2014 was the very first episode with Ms. Rita Borisma.
Yeah, I remember that, of course. Wow.
So it's like 5 and a half years.
Yeah, but this past year has been much quieter on the podcast front because I've been working really hard on the business and really reassessing how it is I'm going to continue to impact people and serve my speakers and make sure this is a valuable resource.
So the work of coaching speakers and being passionate about speaking started many, many, many, many years ago. Decades ago.
Decades.
Professionally coaching speakers happened decade plus, 15. 20 years ago, um, all sort of culminated in this business in the last 10 years or so. The podcast comes around 5 years or so plus ago, and now you're taking a new big step in the business. So as you mentioned earlier, there's not a new name to the podcast but a new name to the business, which is Be Moved. Be Moved. And tell us a little bit about Why be moved?
Well, honestly, as I was out working with speakers and I would say, they'd say, what's your company name? And I would say, This Moved Me. They would hear, sometimes hear, this moves me. They would, it was not always super clear and it wasn't as memorable as I wanted it to be, but people really loved the heart and core of it. I would hear often people say things like, Oh yeah, that's right on, after I'd explained the purpose and meaning of it. So I always felt like the name of the show was right, but the name of the business just didn't feel quite on target. It didn't totally encapsulate this idea that we as speakers, and what I really experienced over the last 10 years was that as the speakers I worked with really transformed their approach to public speaking. The goal was always to move their audience, for the audience to be moved. But what we also discovered along the way was that the speakers needed to be moved too. And that idea was so heart and center, like really core to to my approach that it's so speaker-centric in terms of their transformation, their change in order to move their audience. And so as we were thinking about, you know, like what is the right way as we pivot to bringing more courses, more resources and be a stronger, more valuable resource for speakers on their journey. What I realized was the name needed to change and we hit on Be Moved and it just felt so right. It was like, oh, it felt more on the nose than This Moved Me because This Moved Me felt like it was really about me or something, or it was hard to tell who it was about.
A big part of This Moved Me from the get-go, the podcast, has just been you and others talking about things that moved them, right? What really drove them. Be Moved, your coaching practice and business, this is about being even more focused on those you're trying to serve. Trying to help move them forward in their speaking journey and help them move their audiences in an even more impactful way. Awesome. So besides the name change, are we going to see some new stuff?
Oh my gosh, yes. Yeah. So along with the name change, if anybody's ever done a name change of their business and everything that comes with it. So starting today, there's a new website and there's tons of new stuff on there, new resources. There's a tools page that is so cool. It's got tons of good stuff on there. And importantly, there are two courses going live today that you can access right now, and a third one coming in May, which is huge. That one's going to be awesome. I'm super excited. But the two courses that are on there now are one that if you've been listening to the show, you're familiar with. It's the Speaking Story course, and that one is the deep dive all about story. The craft of storytelling and how to really bring the story of your business and your idea out front to help move your audience. And then the new course that you haven't heard anything about that is on, on the website right now that you can access is called the Sassy Prep Course. And that is the framework of preparation that I use with every message that I have and every speaker I work with, anytime they're stepping out front, it's, you're learning a framework of preparation that is super powerful. And that is a little mini course that I'm really jazzed because it's a huge tool that when I share people are like, oh, this is such a—
It's such an all-purpose tool, right? 'Cause you can use that Sassy Model for preparing for a talk, of course, but you can also use it for preparing for a workshop or preparing for a meeting.
Oh my gosh, a video message. A message, a meeting, or it doesn't matter.
Or just coffee with somebody. Yeah, totally. All those core principles apply to—
Super, super practical, really, really valuable. And once you learn the framework, it, you take it with you.
Take it with you.
Wherever you go.
To move others.
Yeah, yeah.
In meaningful ways.
Yeah, but the idea is in terms of the changes coming, it's, I wanna build on what I've been doing in terms of being a resource for speakers on their journey and creating courses, community, and still being able to access me as a coach because I'm really passionate about that side of it. But not just one-on-one coaching. That side of my work is limiting in terms of the impact and other people being able to access these ideas and this approach, and I'm just so passionate about it. It can't just be me working one-on-one with people. I want people to be able to come in and access these ideas and change the way that they approach public speaking so that we're creating talks that move the world.
Super cool.
Bam.
Awesome.
My coffee's hitting.
Anything else we need to know?
Well, I think this community thing is important. The other day, my friend Tiffany and I were talking and she was reminding me when I started— she's a neighbor of mine and we're very close. But what's funny is we met, she hired me as her coach. She had this big keynote coming up for a workshop and she's super comfortable facilitating But all this idea of a keynote was, she was like, oh man, I need a coach for this. This, that felt too different for her and, and wanted somebody to walk with her in the process of developing that. So we had met at a conference and she hired me to come in and work with her. And she was reminding me of the process of it, even having a coach working with her one-on-one. She's like, it is such an isolating, lonely journey. When you're developing something new because you've got to go so internal. I mean, there's big work. That's why Be Moved feels like such the right name because it is growth work. It is when you're really trying to birth something new and you want to invest so much of yourself in it and you care so much about moving your audience. It's big work. So she was reminding me how lonely that is. And so the community side of Be Moved, I'm really passionate about and I'm excited about, and we're still building a lot of that. But right now, if you— if for anybody who accesses the courses, you get some community support too in the New Movers U, which is really, really cool. And it's a tool I'm just starting to know how huge the impact and capacity can be there.
So it's going to be really cool. So this moving the podcast, yep, it's going to keep going.
Yep.
Not much changing here in any impactful way. Being moved, uh, the big splash is happening this week.
Today.
Today. Today on the interwebs. Where do people go to check it out?
BeMoved.com. And also there's new social channels. So if you look up Be Moved on all of the places, it's on there.
All of the places.
All of the places.
Twitter, Facebook, Insta.
Yeah. You know, I'm starting over on the social channels in a lot of ways because you can't necessarily just transfer. So that feels a little scary. I mean, I think we should talk about that for a minute. Okay. Starting something new, it's a little scary.
Yeah.
And all year the theme and focus was leap because I knew I was taking this big leap and I wanted to talk a little bit about the leap for myself, but also understanding that that's what my speakers are doing all the time, are taking these leaps. And it is, whoo, it just like, you know, Tiffany birthing a new talk, a new keynote talk. It's like, there's some big digging deep that happens. And it is, I mean, it puts you through the wringer. It's been a lot of tears and really exciting moments and Oh my, lots and lots of work. Like, it's—
new things are a lot of work.
I birthed— I definitely birthed things today. I've birthed a whole bunch of new stuff that's coming out today. It's the birthday today. So it's exciting, super exciting. It's a big relief.
Scary unknown.
Scary unknown. So please, please do follow along on the new channels so that it doesn't feel quite so lonely.
You're not going to be lonely there very long, I don't think. Yeah, lots of great stuff to help lots of great people trying to move the world in important ways. Awesome. So stay tuned here for the next conversation about moving others.
I thought of one more thing that is new in terms of a pivot, and that's I'm going to be doing a lot more video.
Oh, great.
And because I really have found that I enjoy it, which surprised me. I did not think— I was very resistant to it for a long time. So This Moved Me as a show will stay, but it might, it might come in different forms. Like it might be a video show eventually that an audio version comes into your podcast feed. I'm saying it with a question mark in my voice because—
You're a video podcast too.
Really?
Yeah.
How does that work? What do you mean?
Same way.
I'll show you later. Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool. So there's still some things to figure out, but there'll be some fun experimenting. And that's honestly my goal is I really want to enjoy it and for it to be fun. And you're nodding at me like we need to wrap things up here, but I'm reading you. I get you. But yeah, I, I meant it in that final series on the Leaping series that I want to enjoy the leap. Yeah, we're investing a lot of ourselves, a lot of money, a lot of time. We have 3 kids. I want this to not just be the right business move, but the right life move. And so we gotta enjoy it along the way.
Awesome. Congratulations.
Thank you. I'm so excited.
We're excited to see what comes.
Let's go create some talks that move the world. Awesome. Okay, bye-bye.
