How to Get Over Your Fear of Judgment on the Internet - It's Essential for Business Owners

In this motivational video, Sam Miller addresses the common anxiety business owners and recruiters feel about creating and sharing content online. He begins by normalizing the fear, sharing anecdotes of clients reacting nervously when asked to produce content. Miller then delivers three core mindset shifts: (1) recognizing that each person’s accumulated experience holds valuable, shareable wisdom; (2) understanding that impact does not require a massive follower count—small, niche audiences can be highly loyal and profitable; and (3) treating content creation as a fun, action‑driven process rather than a high‑stakes performance. Throughout, he uses personal stories, references to his collaborator Ben, and observations about larger influencers to illustrate misconceptions. The talk concludes with a call to action, urging viewers to start posting, enjoy the process, and anticipate the confidence, business growth, and revenue opportunities that consistent content can unlock.

If the feeling of making content and sharing it with the online world sends shivers down your spine and fills you with fear, then you're going to want to watch this video. Today I'm going to try and help you overcome your fear of posting content and sharing your thoughts with the online world. I'm going to be going into a bit more detail of the importance of content, and I'm also going to share some real-life experiences/advice that I've learned from helping dozens of business owners now overcome that very same fear of posting content and sharing their thoughts with the online world. So you're gonna want to watch this video until the end, guys. So before we get into the meat of things, guys, I just want to say something that might put your mind at ease. You are not alone. This fear of posting content and sharing your thoughts with the online world is one of the most common emotions that I see and hear from business owners, recruiters going through mine and Ben's program when we start working with them. I can't tell you how many times— I think it literally happened last week— where Ben and I say, okay guys, it's time to move on to content, and I can see their face go slightly more white. I can see the hundreds of thoughts going around in their head of the possibilities, the things that could happen, everything that could go wrong. It's as if I've just asked them to strip naked and go into the town center to buy me a pint of milk. Yes, I went there. Great, so we've discovered that it's very common. You don't need to feel bad about it. The next thing we need to solve is, you know, how do we overcome it? And the honest answer is it's really a mixture of mindset and just taking action. So the first truth bomb I'm gonna hit you with is know that your content, yes, I'm speaking to you, Your content is valuable. You know, again, it's something so common that I see people experience coming through our program, guys. They, they doubt themselves. They say these exact words. They say, but Sam and Ben, I have nothing valuable to share. Like, what's the point of me sharing my ideas, sharing my thoughts? No one's going to care. It's not valuable. It's not important. Why should I bother? And this literally couldn't be further from the truth. Sometimes I just want to reach through the screen and shake them because they have no idea what gold they have sitting inside their head. They really don't. And this is generally because people underestimate and undervalue the knowledge and wisdom they've built up in their head over the 5, 10, 15+ years that they've been doing their job. And you know, during that time, they've had to overcome countless challenges, they've had to solve hundreds of problems, they've had to liaise and consult with dozens of clients, and in that experience lies a wealth of wisdom to share with your audience. Even if you don't think it's valuable, there will be one person online that's probably going through what you've already been through, and that's why it's so important to share that experience with your audience. Another big thing that stops people from wanting to post content is seeing larger influencers. And I get this myself, guys. I got it last week, and I would like to think that I'm a seasoned content creator. You know, I made hundreds of videos in my time. I've made— I've posted thousands of pieces of content online collectively, and I still get moments where I see larger influencers and I'm like, what's the point? You know, you see people with hundreds of likes, thousands of views, potentially hundreds of thousands of followers or millions of followers, and and you're like, what's the point? They're doing so well, they've got so many people loving their content, why should I start doing it? Am I ever going to catch up? Are people even going to want to come see me? You know, what's the point? I should just stop making content right now. Firstly, it's a huge misconception, probably the biggest misconception online, that you need hundreds of followers, that you need a massive audience to make an impact on other people. And to make an impact on your business. And in fact, the people that I know personally, guys, that are absolutely killing it online have the opposite. They don't have a huge audience at all. It's very small. It's quite niche. But what they've done is they've created a loyal fan base of people that enjoy their content, have got to know them over the years, trust them, and want to work with them. They want to spend money with them. And the second thing, guys, and this is a really beautiful thing to realize, is that there's a— there's always room for another personality. There's always a creator out there for a particular type of audience, and therefore there's always an audience out there for a creator. And you will experience the exact same thing, guys, when you start posting content and you start, um, becoming consistent with posting, is that there will be a certain group of people that just gravitate towards you. There will be people that love you for different reasons. Maybe it's your humor, maybe it's the way that you explain things, you know. You make it really simple and succinct and really easy to understand. Maybe it's the fact that you're great at telling stories. Maybe it's just they can feel your energy and they just want to be around you. Human quirks are absolutely endless, and so the possibilities of attracting different types of people are literally endless as well. The last mindset shift that I want you to try and adopt is stop thinking too much into it and just have fun with the process. Creating content can be one of the most rewarding and gratifying experiences that you can do in your business. And you know, we're so lucky, guys. We have access to the entire planet for free. We can share whatever we want, whenever we want, however we want. We have all the tools at our disposal. We have laptops and PCs where we can write endless amounts of content. We have phones in our pockets that can shoot high definition, or in most cases now 4K. You know, we're living in a day and age now where we have every single tool at our disposal to create, to share our ideas and thoughts with the world. So just have fun with it and enjoy the process of creating. And this could be, you know, the single most important mindset shift that you carry with you on your content journey, because If you're enjoying the process every single day, you know, you've already won, guys. You have already won if you're enjoying creating, sharing your thoughts, sharing your ideas, just having fun with the process. And once you get past this fear of creating content and you're consistent, it will literally change your life, guys. It will change your confidence because you've overcome a fear. It will change your business. It will open up amazing opportunities that you only dreamt were possible. Monetarily, it could change the amount of revenue that you're bringing in. And you know, we are living in a world where the content creators are reaping the rewards. It really does pay off in so many ways. Let this be the motivation you need to face your fear head on, start producing content, start creating content, and get it done. Sam Miller out.
