Recruiters: Your candidates are getting spammed every day, it's time to do something different.

Sam Miller argues recruiters should send personalized video messages instead of text spam. About 27,000 UK recruiters flood inboxes every Monday with identical pitches. Video makes you stand out and creates a real connection, but most recruiters skip it because they're self-conscious. That's your advantage.

Today I'm going to be explaining why you, yes you, as a recruiter, need to be using video to get in front of your candidates. Action! Boom! Shazam! Kapow! You know what that is? That's the sound of 27,000 other recruiters in the UK sending spammy messages to your candidates. No wonder you're not getting through to anyone, because your candidates have got a mountain of messages to look through first thing on a Monday morning. But if you started sending sending a video message to get hold of these new candidates, your message will be bumped right to the top of their list. Why? Because so few candidates ever receive a well-thought-out video message. The first thing that's going to go through their mind when they see it is, oh wow, that is different. I never receive a video message from a recruiter before, and it's a breath of fresh air from all those other spammy messages that I get every single day. The second reason you should be using video to get in front of new candidates is it proves you are different. Whether you like it or not, guys, the approaches that you use to get in front of these candidates is a massive reflection on your brand. I mean, look at it this way: how do you expect to persuade a candidate that you are different from all the other recruiters out there when you're sending exactly the same boring old message? When you use a video message, you're proving to the candidate that you do things differently, you're innovative, and you actually care about adding that personal touch. The next reason you should be using a video message to to get in front of your candidates is connection. When you send a video message to a candidate, instead of them just seeing some words on a screen, they can actually see you in the flesh. How you look, how you speak, your mannerisms. They will quickly form a much deeper connection with you. It's kind of similar to when you watch your favorite YouTuber. Just from watching their videos, you have gotten to know them and you formed a much deeper connection with them. And if you were to bump into them on the street, you kind of feel like you know them. And it's because video is so powerful at connecting us with other people. And here's the best part, guys. When a candidate feels a deeper connection with you, they are much more inclined to respond. The final reason why you should consider using a video message to get in front of new candidates is a lot of people are still too self-conscious and scared to even try it. You will be amazed at how many recruiters hate the idea of going on video. It absolutely cringes them out. But you know what that means? If you can just dig in deep and find the courage to use video, then you've got a massive advantage against your competitors. Do the things that most people are unwilling to do, and the more successful you will be.
