Why We Loved Growing up in the 90's

Sam Miller and friends recall 90s childhood games like marbles, The Floor Is Lava, and mattress slides. Uncle Mike was unbeatable at marbles. They moved from physical toys to early video games like World of Warcraft.

Marbles. Is that good? Uh, yeah. Yeah? Okay, cool. Sam and I were born in the 1990s, so for a lot of our childhood we played with actual toys. None of this technology, none of these iPads and laptops. No, actual toys. And one of our favorite games of all time when Marbles. This is how Marbles works. Each player gets a handful of little marbles, and the aim of the game is to hit those little marbles with a bigger marble. Just like this. Boom! So Ben just claimed my little marble with this big one. The aim of the game is to collect all of the opponent's little marbles. Once you've done that, you're a winner. We used to play this game for hours on end, and we were pretty bloody good. But by far the best player of all time was our Uncle Mike. He used to beat us every single time, and it really rubbed us up the wrong way.
Whoa, calm down, my gosh! What are you doing?
You always win because you're a hacker.
I'm not a hacker.
You're a hacker!
Today, Ben and I are gonna play our very own game of marbles. The loser has to buy lunch. Let's get into it.
Okay, let's do this.
I think I get another shot, I think, don't I? Ben won, so I had to buy lunch. In hindsight, I actually think those were some of the best days because we were forced to use our imagination and really make the most of the simple things. Other games we loved to play were The Floor Is Lava, which was so popular Netflix had now made it into a game show. Soldiers with Sticks.
Where this guy came from, by looking at the mirror.
Mattress Slides. And finally, the scariest of them all, running into a dark room and then running back screaming. And then something happened that literally changed everything. Sam and I were at our best friend's house. We watching one of the most famous episodes in South Park. It was all about World of Warcraft.
Hey Stan, can I play with you guys?
Dad?
Yeah, I'm playing from the office.
Dad, get off our TeamSpeak line!
As kids that used to play with marbles, toy soldiers, and sticks, this was on another level of entertainment. We used to play for hours and hours on end, sometimes even days. It was insane. We only used to take small breaks to eat and go to the toilet. Ben and I really enjoyed filming today's video purely because it brought back so many beautiful childhood memories. And I guess the moral of today's story is make sure you're having enough fun in life, guys. And if you're not, try and get in touch with that inner child and let loose a little bit. See you later.
