A car salesman explains why he won't give a trade-in estimate without seeing the car first. He offers a ten-minute appraisal instead, then asks what price you were hoping for to make sure you're on the same page.
What's my trade-in worth? How much are you gonna give me for my car? I hear you, and that's a fair question. I can't give you a real number without seeing it though. Condition, mileage, any issues, market demand right now. I could throw out a ballpark and either lowball you or get your hopes up, but neither helps you. What I can do is get our appraiser to take a quick look while you're here, give you something real you can actually use. Takes about 10 minutes. What were you hoping to get out of it, just so I know if we're even in the same neighborhood?
