This is a YouTube video titled "Microneedling and PRP with Dr. Sarah Yovino MD" (published/edited May 15, 2017) that documents an in-clinic cosmetic procedure and brief patient interaction. The transcript captures Dr. Yovino (Dr. Yovino is referenced in the audio) performing microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on a patient named Neil: application of topical numbing cream, drawing and using PRP, description of the microneedling device (12 32‑gauge needles), needle depth (1 mm), treatment pattern (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, circular), areas treated (eyes, nose, forehead), expected benefits (reduced pore size, improved texture and color, increased collagen, potential eyebrow/hair growth), and immediate aftercare (Aquaphor). The content is instructional/demonstrative and set in a clinical cosmetic dermatology context.
Chapters
Hi, I'm Neil. I just flew in from Miami to Dr. Yovino's office for some microneedling for some skin rejuvenation. So we're gonna get started. The first step right here is to put some topical cream, numbing cream, on his face to make the procedure tolerable. So the cream has been on for approximately 30 minutes to really, you know, soak in. We've drawn his blood and spun it to use his platelet-rich plasma for the procedure. So I'm gonna take it off in sections. I'm gonna do this quadrant first, and then we'll move to the next ones. So the microneedling tip has 12 32-gauge inch needles that will help resurface the skin. So I'm using his platelet-rich plasma as the glide for the microneedle to be able to slide smoothly across his skin. So I'm gonna start out at a depth of 1 millimeter, and I'm gonna go first horizontally and then vertically, then diagonally in one direction, diagonally in the other, and then circles. So we're going first horizontally. Feel okay, Neil? Yeah, you can't feel that at all. So we're going horizontally, and now we're going vertically across his face in a nice, slow, even movement. So now I'm going diagonally. Neil's concerned about the texture of his skin. Living in southern Florida, he has gotten a lot of sun damage. In the opposite direction here. This ensures that there's no spot that has been missed on his face. Now I like to go in a circular motion when I'm finished with those other 4 directions. So I'm microneedling around his eyes to give him a little more youthful appearance, especially with the platelet-rich plasma. This can really help improve his eyes. The nose can be very, very ticklish, especially near the tip. Does it feel weird? Yeah. So now we're getting started on the second side. We have completed the first side and the nose. As you can see that they're both pretty red. Now, as you can see right here, he actually got fillers done yesterday, which is not a problem to get microneedling done the following day. So the microneedling is going to decrease his pore size, smooth out the texture of his skin, even out the color, and decrease some of the redness. It's also going to help increase collagen. So it takes about 6 weeks for new collagen to form underneath the skin. It forms at approximately 0.5 to 1 millimeter deep. So living in South Florida, he has a lot of sun damage to his forehead, which is very common. So I'm going to make sure I do a thorough job on that. So PRP can also help increase hair growth of the eyebrows and the hairline. So we're all done. I'm just going to put a little bit of topical Aquaphor on to sort of help moisturize his skin, which he can then shower tonight.
