Good morning, good morning everyone. So, oh, let me wait till you guys click in here. It is July 20th. July 20th, what are we doing? It's going so fast. There we go. Did you guys like the little thumbnail today? It made us look like World Cup people. You didn't even see it, Marcella, did you?
No, I was like, you know, you read my mind because I was like, I'm gonna go to YouTube and find it.
Good morning, everybody. Hey, Jim Courtney. Good morning. Let's see. I see YouTube's kicked in, Rumble, Spotify, X, and Locals. It is another Monday. Can you believe it? And Marcella greeted Owen today backstage by saying, you look very white, Owen. So Owen's going to work on his tan.
Apparently she claims she was talking about my clothes, but I don't know.
Yeah, so good morning everybody, come on in. We're gonna get right to it today. We have a bunch of clips and news and updates and all that stuff. So, um, it looks like you guys are in here. I don't want to leave anyone out. And are you ready for this sip? I am. Let's do it.
Started by the simultaneous sip, and all you need is a cup or a mug or a glass, a tank or a chalice, a stein, a canteen, jug or flask, a vessel of any kind. Fill it with your favorite liquid. I like coffee. And join me now for the unparalleled pleasure, the dopamine hit of the day, the thing that makes everything better. It's called the simultaneous sip, and it's happening right Now go.
The extra growl at the end. Good morning again, everybody. I'm Erica. What was that, Owen?
Excellent sip.
It was most excellent sip. I am Erica. I'm joined by my two favorite co-hosts in the entire world, Marcela and Owen. Welcome to the Scott Adams School. Uh, real quick, Owen, how was the, uh, after party and, uh, all your shows this weekend?
It was good. We had, uh, the, the normal Sunday simultaneous sip and the after party on Saturday, and it was a great discussion. I think people had a lot of fun, and we had the subscriber spaces too. That was cool. And, uh, had some new people, and it was, it was fun.
Oh, new subscribers?
Yeah.
Good, you guys. Yeah, subscribe to Owen. He's @OwenGregorian on X. It's a nominal fee, and you get exclusive access to Owen, which I know you all want. Was SJB on his best behavior? No.
He was.
But, you know, that's his best behavior.
Well, right, right, right, right, right. Good. Good distinction. Okay, Marcella, I'm sorry for your loss.
I knew you would come to me. I'm like, "Ah." I was dreading. Um, yes. I know it's a big deal, but, uh, you know, the— there's new— the new players, uh, perhaps the United States will get there soon, you know. So that's my, my wish.
Argentina is the second best soccer team in the world now.
They used to be first, but it's not— let's not compare notes.
And so Messi's done now, right? He's retiring.
Well, he plays for the Miami team. Um, I think he's retiring from playing. Um, he hasn't announced it, but most likely he'll be retiring from playing for the Argentinian team.
Oh, gotcha.
Okay, so the coach, uh, uh, he announced that he's gonna stop, uh, being a coach there by like September or December of this year. Yeah, so we'll see.
Yes, Marcela, it's not that she hates Spain itself, but no, I hate, I hate Spain. Oh, but it's that she does hate Spain.
You probably—
now I have more reason to hate Spain.
Did you enjoy it when Trump photobombed them?
Oh my gosh, I wish he would have done it more because he, he did it more in the other, uh, cup that he was actually in the middle and they allowed him to be in the middle. But today, uh, yesterday they pulled them off because he was— this is when, if you guys didn't watch it, this is when all the players for the winning team get together with the big trophy, and they take pictures and go crazy. And so President Trump stayed there.
Yeah, I have the clip. So he gave them the trophy, thanking them, and then he's supposed to walk off, but he just kind of stayed there. And the captain's trying to be like, "Okay, I can't really scooch the President of the United States off the stage, but I'll try." But here's the clip. It's cute. And of course people are going to rage about this.
One final act of this incredible summer of soccer for Rodri to lift the trophy and for the celebrations to begin both here and overseas.
He should have stayed like in the middle.
Like, I know, like the captain's like, last time he stayed.
Here we go.
Spain have won the World Cup!
Yay!
All right, Marcel, I'll cut it short.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, we get it, we get it, we got it.
Yeah, I'm glad that like the, the, the thumbnail wasn't the Spanish, uh, you made me Ronaldo. That's good.
There you go. And then did you guys see President Trump gave Spain a special trophy afterwards? Um, This was pretty good. I'll say it was pretty cool. Ferran, great game.
This AC unit is for you.
Gracias, Mr. President.
It's so cool.
Best ACs, better than medals.
Enjoy the cool.
Thank you so much. This is amazing.
You're welcome.
Let's hear it for the team.
Gracias a todos.
That was so thoughtful, right, Owen? I thought that was nice.
I don't know how he got all those air conditioners on such short notice.
Oh, no, he knew. He was like, listen, Argentina. And Spain could probably use it. Um, I have one other, uh, sports story.
Don't give air conditioning to the losers.
Oh yeah, no, Argentina has air conditioning.
They're not Europe. Oh yeah, they have miele. Um, yes, capitalism. Yeah, they're in good shape. Um, okay, one more sports story. Can you imagine me picking sports stories? Okay, so this is Josh Kerr from Scotland. He broke a world record running the 1-mile race. You guys, listen to this, I had to write it down. He ran a mile in 3 minutes 42.66 seconds. His average speed was 16.2 miles per hour. And then somebody also said it would be like running 16 100-meter dashes in 14 seconds each. Can you like— oh my God, look at this guy. I can't, I can't, and I won't.
Josh, world record ahead of you, 3:43.19. Don't forget, here he goes. I think he's gonna do it. Keep going, Josh, keep going, Josh. It's a world record!
Yes!
Get in! Oh my word, he said, I can do it. He said, I will do it. I'm telling you I'm going to do it. I'm telling you when I'm going to do it. I'm telling you where I'm going to do it. And he's done it. Crikey!
How is he not stroking out? Can you imagine?
How is he not— how is he not Kenyan?
No, dude, I was gonna say, what did we all notice right away?
What?
I think, I think, right, I think the Kenyans are more like for the long distance.
Yeah, yeah, going to get water and food.
But even for short distance, he's not Jamaican either.
But the other thing is, like, I remember the story, like, there was this barrier of the 4-minute mile. Everyone was saying for, like, decades and decades, like, no one's ever going to be able to do a 4-minute mile. And then as soon as someone broke it, like all kinds of people broke it. And now we've got another world record. I don't know what the next barrier is, but yeah, get to 3 minutes.
But I, I mean, how, like, oh my God, 16.2 miles per hour he's running. Imagine you're like in your car or something and like this guy just comes like running next to you. Oh my gosh. Um, all right, so we also want to say congratulations to Vice President and Mrs. Vice President J.D. Vance. They— Usha had her— what is it, their third or fourth, uh, baby boy? Either fourth. Alec Neal Vance was born yesterday, I believe it was. Um, so congratulations to them and, uh, good luck raising all those kids. Have fun with that. Um, so congratulations. I'm like, mm-hmm. Uh, so that's nice.
It's crazy. I, I had, I had 3 siblings, so it's a good number.
Yeah. All right, so that's, that's good for them, right, Marcella?
Woohoo!
Yeah, it's— I mean, it's historical because like the last time there were kids in the White House, there were kids of the— that were that young were JFK, I want to say.
They were? Really?
Yeah, I guess last time where they were— I mean, there was, you know, little Michelle, uh, and Barack Hussein Obama, they had like their own kids, but they weren't that young.
Marcella, I like how you threw the Hussein in. It was like just flowed right out. That was nice.
Oh my God, that's her Rush, Rush Limbo over there.
Shout out Rush. Oh my God, yes, Jackie, somebody's got to have the kids. You're right, I know. Um, so congratulations. And some chick yesterday, she got so smacked down on X. I was so glad everybody did do that because she was like, oh, President Trump brought Rubio to the game, interesting. And everyone's like, yeah, dipshit, like, Vance just had a baby today. Hello. It was so good. I'm like, I love that.
They're always trying to pit people against each other in the Trump administration and it always fails.
It's so silly. Um, so I love that. So anyway, the sports were off the hook— off the hook— off the chain. And yesterday I was so proud to New Jersey because, not that New Jersey had anything to do with this, but the weather was stellar. The smoke cleared out, the sky was blue, it was like such a comfortable temperature. And Goldie, was that you? Somebody, I think you sent me a message asking about like, there's like reports of like all these drones flying around the airports. So I was out with friends yesterday, we were doing a little dock and dine, and anyone wants to do the callback on the dock and dine typo, go ahead. Um, if you know, you know. But anyway, there there was, what are they called, F-16 fighter jet, F-18, whatever they are, our fighter jets were going by and they were like kind of low and it was like, what is that about? And apparently we found out that there was an airplane or something like in restricted airspace going over like where MetLife Stadium was and they were going to maybe have to intercept it. I was like, let's go. So that was fun. So I didn't see any drone flares, but F-18 twin tails. Thank you. That's what it was. Yes. New Jersey is our drone capital of the nation. I can. 10 planes. Okay. I don't know the story, but it was amazing. All right. So, yes, I know. All right. So moving on from—
What happened with Samsung, though, in New Jersey? They're leaving, right?
Samsung?
Yeah. I hear they're moving to Texas.
They should. It's, it's— we're out of control. Like, we are neck and neck with California. It's—
but won't that mean your whole economy is going to collapse in your state?
Yes, of course our whole economy is going to collapse, except, except we have big production coming here. So Netflix is— the studio is being built out. It's, uh, well on its way. Real estate has gone out of control. I mean, houses that should be literally— that should be like $300,000 or $400,000 or well over $1 million. You list your house for $1 million, you're going to get $1.5 million. All cash, no inspections. We'll take it. Leave your contents. We don't care what you do. It's out of control over here. So I don't know.
I don't know who these people are, but what are they going to start calling it? Jerseywood? With all the Netflix and places?
Yeah.
Oh, and Jerseywood. Yeah, Jerseywood.
Everyone's abandoning California. I don't think Hollywood even really exists.
Anymore.
Not really. But there— I mean, what do we have now? Paramount, Netflix, and some other one. Um, so yes, it's like my worst nightmare that we're Californiying New Jersey, and putting like celebrities here is like my worst nightmare because I'm just like not that girl. But we'll see. Um, all right, so New Jersey, we're doing great. Um, I wanted to move on. I was trying to decide, like, there was so much news today, like what to talk about, and I keep seeing a repeat of something that I just wanted to highlight, which is moderate Democrats. There's a few left that are just like, I can't do it anymore. Like, I cannot co-sign on what the Democrats are doing. So I had a few clips pulled. Oh, when you posted this today, it's Jesse Kelly with Donald Trump Jr. You guys, Jesse is going to come back on the show, I think not this week, but next week. We're just finalizing a date. So not come back on, he's going to get on. So anyway, this was the very beginning of what they were talking about. I'm just going to cut the clip short, but this is about 3 minutes and it just kind of lays out for you like what everybody's seeing with the Democrat Party. So let's just take a listen. And if you guys don't know Jesse Kelly, this is Jesse Kelly, and he will be on the Scott Adams School next week, I believe. Okay, let's take a listen.
You know something I don't like about myself, and I know why I do this, but I try to ignore the fact that we're gonna have someone else on our side.
It's not going on, is it? There we go. Sorry, guys. Sorry.
You know something I don't like about myself, and I know why I do this, but I try to ignore the fact that we're gonna have someone else on our side, possibly someone I know or you know, be killed. It's going to happen again, hopefully not for years, but it's gonna happen again. You know it is, and I try not to dwell on it because it sickens me where we've come as a country because these communists are just so inherently violent. DOJ just announced Don Jr., this poor freaking guy, someone wanted to kill him too. This family has really been through hell. Joining me now, Donald Trump Jr., host of Triggered with Don Jr. Don, I don't even know what to say, brother. I mean, every time we talk, you're either being arrested or arrested.
That was a hot opening, Jesse. I wasn't even expecting that one, but yeah. Yeah, it's a little bit nuts because you're right, it happens, you know, a lot more than that's actually made public. And, you know, I deal with it with, you know, my kids and stalkers and myself with stalkers, obviously, you know, two people trying to actually kill my father. And as close as I was with Charlie Kirk, having sat in the trial, you know, for that last week. Yeah, no, it's very real. And we have to think about these things. It's, you know, I guess I'm blessed to be able to put it in the back of our minds, but it's a very real threat and something that's happening far too often.
Don, obviously presidents are always going to feel death threats. That's just kind of the nature of the business, but it feels so much more widespread now. Ivanka, everyone knows about that. You, as you mentioned, your poor freaking kids who just want to live a normal life. When did you notice this spreading? Was it right when your dad came down the escalator, or is this just getting worse in the past few years?
Well, it's definitely gotten worse, uh, in the past few years. I think, you know, people have sort of gotten, you know, to the point where they've gotten comfortable normalizing that kind of behavior. I mean, it was definitely present in, you know, in '16 and whatnot. I think, you know, for me, you know, I know according to my Secret Service at the time, they were telling me, you know, I was the number 2 most threatened person in the government, even though I wasn't in government, but under, you know, under their protection after my father, you know. So it's been real for a long time. But the manifestation of actually doing it, you know, there's one thing, you know, you and I deal with the, you know, the internet warriors. Everyone's a tough guy. On Twitter, but actually manifesting it into reality, you know, that's become a lot more normalized over the last few years. And it's happening. I mean, we've witnessed it over the last 2 years where, what, you know, 2-year anniversary just this weekend of, you know, the first assassination attempt on my father in September. We're approaching the 1 year on them actually killing, you know, our good friend Charlie Kirk. You know, it's just— it's sick behavior. It's disgusting. It comes from the side that preaches tolerance that, you know, turns out to not be so tolerant, you know, as we've all seen. And it's just a really scary thing for our country, for the republic, you know, for a civilized world and frankly, any world.
Let's change and talk about something positive, a convention.
Why?
So true. It's so scary to think about. Like I was saying the other day, like, who wants to get into politics now? Like, the really good people. That can really affect change are going to really think twice about it. Um, Marcelo, you know, what do you, what do you think about what Don Jr.'s saying? I feel so bad for the Trump family, I really do. Um, it's got to be scary every time they leave their house.
I know, I mean, in, in to think about their kids too. But I, I think I go back to Scott Adams and him saying that they'll be hunted, and unfortunately he was right. You know, we're being hunted, and the problem is that But it's not just politicians. Um, Don Jr., he's just the son of a president, you know.
He—
not to diminish him, but he's not really a politician. But just being near it is enough. Just speaking out is enough. Charlie Kirk, um, as we know, uh, was assassinated. You might question who did it or how or whatever, for whatever reason, but he, he was somebody so peaceful. Somebody that wanted to have a conversation with the other side, and they took him out. So, um, that means any of us can, can be a potential target. And that's terrible because that just— what does that does is possibly limit us to speak out, to say anything. It censors us.
And many of us And, you know, Trump supporters have been targets. I mean, just look at January 6th. And, you know, it's disgusting that Hunter Biden was actually saying they didn't go hard enough. But, um, like, you know, we had thousands of people and they were put in solitary confinement, given terrible treatment. Many of them committed suicide in prison. Like, it was terrible. Like, I don't, I don't know of any time in our history where we've done something like that, where we just said, okay, we're gonna lock up all these people that were at a political protest and just torture them for years., and you know, now they're pardoned, but you know, that doesn't really undo what they did. And it's just so outrageous how far they've gone with trying to purge the system, purge the swamp of Trump. Like they've been doing that since 2016, since 2015, and it's just outta control. I mean, it, it's just, I don't understand how people on that side can think that's okay and think that that's justified.
And it doesn't help when the politicians on the left are fueling that fire and the media is fueling that fire, you know, with, with January 6th and being, oh, that, you know, like every person should be in jail for life. And then you're like, what are you doing? You know, it's, it's really sad. Um, I don't know how we turn it around, but I have a, I have a couple more clips because it's a little bit of a theme, but this one is, um Why is that here? Okay, this one is Bill Maher. Um, you know, I mean, Scott used to say Bill Maher is just, you know, once he learns about the January 6 hoax of it not being an insurrection, he's like, he's just one hoax away from coming over to this side. But I don't even think he needs to believe that at this point. This is where he's at.
So I think the Democrats will do very well in the midterms. 2028 is a different story because by then This wing of the party, this new wing with all the energy, and it's not just a few people anymore. I read every day, I read about a new person in some Colorado and Wisconsin, somebody who is saying some variation of not defund the police, abolish the police. No prisons, no police. Like, what world do they think we could possibly live in under these conditions? It's just a level of nutty that I'm so glad that whenever it was, I was like, no, I'm not going along because this is where it ends.
Could you see yourself voting for JD Vance?
Yes.
If this is the Democratic side, yes. Mm-hmm.
So he opened the door to vote for Vance in the 2028 presidential election. He accused Democrats of cowardice and warned that the party's increasingly radical wing is taking control. Which we're all seeing. Um, and it, it's like, it's so out there now. It's so out there. And I feel like the last few crops of kids that came out of colleges are all in for the Democratic Socialist Party, but they don't really know how to define it, and they're just kind of lying about what it means, or they just don't really understand it themselves. It's a lot of confusion. I feel like there's a lot of really confused people out there. Um, Owen, you know, what, what do you think about Bill Maher? I mean, he— you guys, I also suggest watch Bill Maher, you know, watch it, watch his show if you can, or at least the clips. And I know a lot of people are like, no, I don't like them, I don't like them. But I have always felt like, yeah, there's obviously things we would disagree with him on, but he, he does come back to some sort of middle ground most of the times and make common sense on a lot of issues. And like everybody says, they listen to all sides so they understand, like, you know, when they're talking to people, what they're hearing and thinking. But I, I just find this interesting with him.
Um, yeah, the way I look at Bill Maher is just he's a liberal Democrat from the, you know, '80s and '90s. Like, he's no different than, frankly, a lot of us now, where we may have been somewhat liberal by those standards, and we still probably are. And, um, but the way the Democrat Party has shifted, it's like you can't be that anymore. Like, you can't, you can't have those beliefs and then still say, yeah, and I agree with all the stuff the Democrats are doing. Like, you, you can, because lots of people do it, but I think it's just because they don't really realize how much it's changed, and they think it's all still the same as it was, but it's not. And I think Maher may be obviously a lot more aware of what's going on than a lot of those people because he's immersed in it, but I think he probably still has that same resistance that a lot of people do, is that they've made their political party their identity, and it's hard to give that up. So they want to say, I'm still a Democrat, I'm still, you know, and Yeah, they just don't realize that it's like you can't really, you know, like you're— you can say you're a Democrat and you can vote Democrat, but what you're actually voting for is very different than what you believe in that case. And I think it's becoming more apparent because all these radical candidates are having some success and taking over in the primaries, which I think was an op. I don't think it was like what the DNC wanted to happen. I think it was these radical people said, hey, we've got an opportunity here. We can pump a bunch of money in and we can make a bunch of people show up at the primaries or do whatever kind of rigging they do and, you know, get their candidate in instead of the others. And so I think, you know, it makes sense that he's having trouble with it because I think he, you know, he's kind of a little like James Carville and all the other more traditional Democrat pundits where they're like, well, this is what I think the Democrat Party should be and it's what it always has been for 20, 30, 40 years. And So, you know, they're— the problem is that they're not in touch with the young generation. It's a very different generation. And, you know, it's fine to say, okay, maybe people like Bill Maher will come over or whatever, but I still wouldn't trust him because I don't think he would necessarily say, okay, now I'm a big Second Amendment guy and all the other things you might think of as conservative. And I also would just say he's going to keep becoming more irrelevant. Because who watches Bill Maher anymore?
Um, yeah, well, I think he's still— I think he still has people watching. But what I appreciate about him is that— what I appreciate also, this is again my opinion— I, I don't really care if he believes in the whole Second Amendment thing. I just want him to point out to people that the left has gone mad. They've gone batshit. Um, and you would have to twist yourself into a pretzel of somebody you never were. Like, if you were like a Bill Clinton Democrat and now you're like, oh yeah, I'm still a Democrat now, it's like, no, no, they— that— those two things can't be true because your beliefs when you believed in Bill Clinton, you'd have to absolutely have lost your mind and become schizophrenic to be like, now I align with this. It's just crazy to me. Um, Marcella, what's your take on Bill Maher here?
No, I mean, I'm not surprised that Bill Maher speaking out on this, um, because he's, you know, like, he always— he's always spoken out. Um, that's why Politically Incorrect got canceled after 9/11. Um, he's always been one to think for himself, which is not common in the Democratic Party. Um, however, it's interesting that many in the Democratic Party and the old guard, as you would call it, are kind of speaking out about DSA and the communist infiltration, socialist infiltration. And but I think it's too late. I think it's, you know, maybe, maybe it's not. Maybe they can recover their party, but it's become, like you said, just complete batshit crazy party, you know, and the party of women, the party of just crazy stuff. So Unfortunately, that's where it's leading to. And I'm not sure it's the majority of them, but I think the minority is the very strong minority, very loud minority.
And they have energy.
Yeah, yeah, you just need a few people.
Yeah, exactly. They have energy right now, that this like Wild West party. Um, I just saw Morgan mention Van Jones, like Van Jones on his Substack, you know, he's like, you know, you Democrats have stop putting turds in the punch bowl and telling us that it's whatever. He's like, you can't, you know, like you're off the rails about certain things. And I'm like, you know what, Van? Like, I'm sorry, I am no fan of Van and I just never will be. But it's like, it's a little too little too late. Like you're gonna come out now and be like, oh no, we're going crazy. Like you were going crazy in Trump's first term when you were helping radicalize these people. So you're part of the machine that radicalized these people, that made it okay for people to talk this way, to think this way, to do these things. And now he's like, uh-oh, we're losing the plot. And I don't think I want to live in this world of communism. Like, no kidding, really? So it's interesting. I do have another clip because here's my favorite Democrat talking to Jake Tapper face. Let's check him out.
And if that becomes the Democratic platform, that we will now ever vote for any aid and we'll turn our back on Israel, then that makes— that makes me— to make that decision is really what a Democrat should stand for or being a part of my party for me. Now, you know, Jake, I've said this, that if I change my party spontaneously right now, my views and my votes aren't going to change. It's really more of a statement how— and if you look at the kind of people that are winning our primaries, their centerpieces of their campaign is anti-, anti-Israel kinds of rhetoric, whether it's in my state or it's whether in New York City and what's happening in Colorado now, too. If you believe the Democratic Party's future is rooted in describing Israel as apartheid state or genocidal and they don't deserve to have our support. That forces me to say, is this really makes sense for me as a Democrat with these views are continue to actually intensify.
Let's turn to the president.
I always say if Jake Tapper ever got Botox, he would lose his whole shtick, that whole like scowl looking face. So, you know, Fetterman's pointing— it's a good point. You know what, however you feel about Israel and the wars or whatever, the Democrats are now the anti-Israel party, like it or not. You know, that's what's happening. What do you think, Marcella, on this one?
I mean, I don't know if Fetterman has been paying attention, but that's where he was leading to. That's the thing. I think they're all realizing certain, certain rational um, or semi-rational Democrats like Fetterman, like Bill Maher, like Van, uh, Van, uh, and others. There was a guy named Jamie Metzl that was part of the Clinton White House that is anti-DSA as well. Um, they're all realizing this, but it's been like this for a while now. I think it's been like this possibly since President Obama. Um, where we've— they've gone away from Israel towards, um, being not— it's not even anti-Israel, it's pro-Hamas, pro-terrorist. Yes, pro-Muslim terrorism.
Yes.
I mean, the big picture here is that I think up until this point, the DNC and the traditional Republic or traditional Democrats they've just been kind of brushing this off like, yeah, we've got the Squad, but that's fine, they'll just say their crazy stuff and no one will listen and it won't matter and we just go on with our lives. Um, but now I think they're realizing that it is kind of more of a hostile takeover sort of thing. It's a little bit more like when the Tea Party came about for the Republicans and they had to deal with it at some point. They couldn't just ignore it, they had to, you know, figure out how to crush it essentially. But, um, you know, they absorbed it back into the Republican Party at that point, but I think the— with, with this, I think it's more along the lines of what Trump did with the Republican Party, where it was kind of like a hostile takeover. He just like took over and said, now this is my party. And I think that's what the radical DSA people are trying to do. They're trying to say, now this is our party, it's not yours anymore, it's ours. And, and when they start winning elections, that's when the DNC starts to sit up and take notice and say, oh, wait a second, you know, when we have our incumbents that we've been funding and we thought would always be there, and suddenly we got this radical person that won the primary. Now we got to do something about it because otherwise they are going to take over our party. And I think that's what they're going through right now, is they're past the denial stage. They're trying to fight, you know, trying to fight it. And I don't know how successful they'll be because it does seem like, again, it's not just those candidates, it's also the whole young generation that's been indoctrinated for decades now. And so unfortunately, I don't think it's going to be easy for them to squash because they've trained, you know, however many thousands or hundreds of thousands or millions of people to think this way.
Um, I agree. And also, you know, I, I have two Bill Maher clips today, you guys, because the other thing with the Democrats, it's like I feel like they're really confusing socialism and capitalism because you can't have— you can't like take taxes from people and then say like you're anti-capital, anti-capital, but we're going to use those people's taxes to fund socialism. Like, it doesn't make sense. So here's Bill Maher talking about this other batshit part of the Democrat Party.
Someone has to explain the American economy to me. I know I've said this before, I still don't get it. Last week was Tax Day, and as usual, because HBO is so generous and I'm sure so will be the new owners. I paid to the government, if you add in state tax, local sales, property fees, Obamacare, probably almost 60% of what I earn. That's a lot. And I still wouldn't mind if Bernie Sanders would stop saying the rich don't pay taxes. And while I'm sure the super-rich with their army of accountants and corporate loopholes get away with murder, us regular rich people pay a shit ton of taxes. And who stands up and gives us a pat on the back? Nobody, that's who. The top 10% pay 72% of all federal income taxes, and the bottom half, 3%. The Democratic Socialists talk about socialism like we don't already have a lot. Social Security, unemployment, Medicare, nutritional assistance, Medicaid, Obamacare, disability, housing subsidies. Again, not against it, just the same question. How can you be soaking the rich and failing the poor so badly? How can it be that the federal government alone took in over $5 trillion in taxes last year and we still need that? Are we really this incompetent and corrupt? Don't answer that. But here's the truth. You're not gonna get healthcare to these people by threatening to tax and eat the rich. You raise billionaires' taxes, they just leave the state, or they leave the country, or in some cases the planet.
So true, right? Don't you love that, Owen?
Yeah, well, I mean, you know, he— I think the— what he maybe leaves out, but it's not really a criticism, but like what he leaves out I think is that it's not really just about how much taxes people are paying. The socialists want The money. They want their money. They want the rich people's money. Like, that's what it is, is, you know, it's not about, oh, you're paying, you know, you're not paying them taxes. They might say it that way just because it's a popular way to say it, but what they really want is redistribution of wealth. They want to say, if you've got a billion dollars, I want that. Yeah, you know, if you're a millionaire, I want to be a millionaire. And like, it's all about envy and jealousy, and, um, it— that's the whole underpinning of that whole socialism idea. Is to say, and it is a total fantasy, it would never work. And you know, it just doesn't, you know, you pointed that out at the beginning where it's like none of this makes any sense. It never made sense. But because even if you taxed them 100%, it wouldn't get what they want because there just isn't enough money. And obviously it would have a lot of other impacts if you did that. And it already is having impacts at the 50 to 60% level where you're discouraging business that would otherwise probably be doing a lot more and a lot better and would Rides all boats, just like we've seen when things are going well in the economy that we have, you know, some of the most well-off poor people in the world. And, you know, I'm not trying to put down anybody's plight. You know, I understand there are people struggling and a lot of people are struggling. But and even people who you might think, oh, they're making a lot of money, but they're still struggling because it is really expensive to live. So I get it. But You know, the way to fix it, I think, is to get more and better jobs and to raise wages and to give those jobs to Americans, not whoever wants to show up here, and, um, to let the market work that out in terms of having more free markets that push prices down instead of just driving inflation with lots of government spending. And so that's, that's the, you know, obviously that's the capitalist system. But again, you know, all these people have been taught otherwise and they've been fed this lie about socialism, about how it's going to be so much better off. And, you know, we're going to control your rent and we're going to give you free food and free housing and free health care and free, free, free. And, you know, they don't realize that it's all connected through the tax system and that the government screws everything up and steals half of it. And it's the worst possible way to try and solve those problems. But yeah, that's just the way, the way this thing goes.
I know. Marcella?
Um, I mean, it feels like they did go to university, these, these radical leftists, but they seem to forget. They probably never spent a day realizing that wealth, money doesn't come from paper bills or from taking someone's assets and just redistributing— redistribution of wealth. It's created by people, it's created by ideas, it's created by hard work. And the idea that you can just do this and it'll work out, that's never worked and never will be. Because there's also the thing that Scott Adams would talk to us about is motivation. In, in, for example, in Cuba, if you're a doctor and you went through all the training of becoming a doctor, you're going to get paid just as much as someone that didn't go to school. Possibly you're going to have even more issues where you're going to have to do more regulations. So there is no incentive to become something greater, better. They're missing that. That's still missing, you know. There is no motivation. It's never worked. I just, I just hate the fact that talking about this in general about the United States, it's like, what's going on? You know, that's—
yeah, things you never thought you'd say in the United States.
Never thought I would say it. Yeah.
Um, I don't, I don't have further details about this, but before we went live in, and I'm just gonna call it Mom Donnie stan at this point. Um, this was like— this— I'm gonna just play a clip while I'm talking here. Uh, let's see, will it play? Chrome was finicky. Okay, this is outside. This is at the Federal Plaza in New York City. So somebody with, I believe, like a shotgun and an explosive thing Uh, yeah, uh, the person's apprehended. I don't know who it is. I'm not guessing or speculating, but you know, what are we doing, people? Like, I, I try to tell my friends New York's not safe. They're like, oh yeah, it's great, it's great. I'm like, no, it's not, it's not. Um, so the last clip I'm gonna play, uh, it's just a portion of, um, Marco Rubio's speech he gave the other day. I did not have a chance to hear the whole thing. But I did pull this clip, and after this we're going to go to other news with Owen and Marcela. But let's take a quick listen.
This is a distinctive and unique evil. It has always been driven by a hatred above all else, a hatred for civilization itself. It is a revolt of the worst against the best, a revolt of the weak and the cowardly against the strong and the good. It is perpetrated by those who cannot build, who cannot create, who cannot achieve great things, and take their revenge upon the world for their own inadequacy by seeking to destroy those who can. This is what radical leftism is. It may wear various different slogans and ideologies across place and time. They can call themselves anti-capitalist or anti-imperialist or communists, or anarchists, or Marxists, but the fundamental character is always the same. It's always the same. It is a poisonous resentment cloaked in the language of equality and justice, liberation, an overwhelming need to tear down what greater men have built, to wreck what is beautiful and what is right on behalf of people who are only filled with ugliness and have nothing else to offer offer the world. Through violence and through terror, they once again seek to impose their ugliness on all of us. The old dogma was wrong. The old dogma was wrong. None of this is driven by idealism. It is not utopian. In fact, it is the opposite. One of the criticisms you sometimes hear of communism, for example, is that it sounds good in theory, but it never worked in practice. That's actually not true. Communism does not sound good in theory. The world it envisions for all of us is small, flat, gray, leveled of all exception, drained of all that is good and noble in the human soul. The world it envisions is a world without courage, a world without creativity or ambition, a world without heroes or glory or great causes to strive for. Strive towards, without a world without miracles, without myths, without men who rise above the rest to do incredible and extraordinary things. And the world communism envisions is a world without God. For these architects of revolutionary violence, the towering achievement of our civilization, for them, it's an unbearable humiliation, a reminder of what they cannot do and a reminder of what they cannot be. So they choose instead to destroy. They attack pipelines, they attack railroads, they attack power grids and laboratories, the physical embodied symbols of power and invention and achievement. This is the nature of the terrorism we face today. They despise the West because the West is great.
So it goes on from there. I definitely recommend we all watch it. I think it's about 20 minutes in length. Um, but you know, it's, it's just what he's talking about is in this country, you know, like the, the same terrorists that we're talking about in other countries are also in our country. Um, Owen, I'll come to you first. Uh, did you get to watch the whole thing?
I think I just pretty much saw the same clip.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, that was a great speech though. And I think it sounded like he was quoting Nietzsche, right? With the whole Superman or Uberman or Übermensch or whatever he called it. But a lot of Nietzsche's philosophical ideas was about how the weak, ugly people are trying to assert their dominance over the strong, good people. It seemed like it was echoing a lot of those types of ideas, which I think, you know, I certainly think it's accurate and I think it is what's going on. And, um, you know, I, I always thought like this line we've heard for the past, I don't know, 5 or 10 years was that, oh, it's really the white nationalists, it's the, you know, like that's what, that what, that's the biggest terrorist threat. And, and I, I traced that down. I remember I, I, it was, it was to a particular Congressperson Dick Durbin, senator, um, from my state, unfortunately. And he, he, he's the one that like cornered Chris Wray and pushed and pushed for him to say that. Like, he made him say, well, there's this one thing in an FBI report, and it was a totally cherry-picked statistic. It was just like, well, there's been more of these types of arrests than those types of arrests. But, you know, it was, it was after, like, Chris Wray was trying to resist going there. He was like saying, you know, well, we have all kinds of threats that we're tracking, and we have all these other things going. And like, we have foreign tests, we have domestic threats, we have different— and like, it was clear that Dick Durbin went into that trying to get that soundbite. Just, you know, I want to see the FBI director say that it's white nationalists that are causing more of these things. And it's not true. It's— I mean, I— they— and I think it's like, the left is to the point where they're making up these things, right? They're— you hear these stories all the time now where it's like there's a Nazi symbol on something, and then you find out it was a, you know, person that was the target of that, or at least it wasn't, wasn't. And, um, you know, all these other hoaxes that we've seen over the years, and it seems like, okay, we don't have enough, so let's go get the SPLC to pay somebody to do it so we can now say that it's worse than other stuff. But I— we, we also see all this leftist terrorism happening on a regular basis. We see churches being burned down all over the place. We see, um, all these leftists just getting violent. And I, I think it is a huge threat, and I'm glad that Rubio is paying attention to it and making it known even worldwide that this is a big problem that we need to face and tackle and stop, because it's causing all sorts of problems everywhere, including, like you said, here in America.
Yeah, fully agree. Marcela?
I think it— I'm not sure if in that speech he talked about the ban. He's banning visas to leftist groups that are trying to destabilize the United States. Um, and one of the things that came out this morning is that he is releasing documents that show how Cuba has tried to over— I mean several— 60, 70, I don't know how long, many years, um, it's been trying to, you know, do espionage and subversion in the United States. And that's being released to show you that communism is not just an idea, that socialism as well is not just an idea. They're, they're, they're destructive ideas that can basically end our nation as we know it. And I like his passion. I like the line that he says, take— he says this: they take their revenge on the world for their own inadequacy, cloaked in a language of equality. That's just so beautifully— I'm not sure if he's the one that wrote the speech, but it's so beautifully written because that's exactly what they're doing. They're trying to say, oh, we want to all be equal And at the same time, they want to take away from people they envy, take away everything from them. And it, you know, like Owen was saying, it reminds him of Nietzsche, but it also reminds you of Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged. And Atlas Shrugged was a book about this. It was about the looters versus the producers. Um, how that ends up happening to a country, the United States, in that book, and what— how easily it can turn to this if we don't fight back.
And here we are.
And here we are.
We're here.
We're—
it's like we're at the front door.
It's—
so, I mean, better not, uh, you know, that's what I keep saying, like, we better not, you guys. We have to we have to be the people to rise up and make a big stink about all of this. And, you know, I, I actually, I don't, I don't know who I would— who's running or who I would vote for for the next president. But I do like Rubio. Um, of course, I have to say there's things I don't like about everybody and things I like about everybody, but I feel like we're gonna need a Gen X president, and he could be that person. All right. So I'm going to just go to you guys now. If you guys have news stories prepared. Owen, I think I'm going to come to you first because I know you had a couple of things you were going to talk about. So if you want to pick a news story to make us all brighter and smarter when we go out into the world this week.
Well, I mean, there's some good news on the economy, that 3.5 million new American businesses have been added in the first half of this year. So, you know, there are lots of different indicators in the economy. Some are positive, some are negative. I'm not trying to put on rose-colored glasses and just say everything's perfect, but 3.5 million businesses is a lot. And I think it was probably, you know, I think it's 12% year-over-year increase from last year. So there's a lot of entrepreneurship happening and, you know, people have to be somewhat confident in what they think they can do in the economy to start those businesses. So it's not all bad, guys. There are some positive signs that we're starting a lot of businesses, more than we have in the past.
That's good news, Owen. Thank you for that. Should we alternate and go to Marcello with a tidbit now?
I mean, you know me and my doom gloom. The Tate brothers were arrested.
Yes. Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested.
Yeah. Unfortunately, they're still They're still in Florida and they're still to be extradited to the UK. These were the charges that they've been facing for quite a— I think they added new charges, but they were the same things. They were— they're being accused of rape and— I'm sorry, grape and sex trafficking charges, and that, you know, you know, part of me can't tell if this is just an attack on, um, them for being who they are, or is this— is this an, like, an actual, like, cases. But, you know, you're, you're innocent to proven guilty in my mind, um, in, in America at least. Um, I'm not sure in the UK.
But so for people that don't know them, they're, uh, brothers, very wealthy. They were, uh, I don't, I don't know all the details. Like, I didn't know we were going with the Tates today, but, um, so they are reportedly had charges against them and were put in jail for sex trafficking and blah blah blah. And like, I'm not trying to blah blah blah, it's just that they haven't been proven guilty of this, I don't think, ever. Is that right, Marcella? Do you know? Yeah.
No, they've just been charged with it. That would be Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate. And why I bring them up is that they stand for the opposite of what we're talking about today. They're like the bros, the, the ones that are pro-man and pro-testosterone, pro-everything that— against everything that the new socialist movement stands against.
So a lot of Democrats in particular cannot stand the Tate brothers because they're telling especially like younger men, like, listen, like there's male, you know, male characteristics and female characteristics. And the man's supposed to provide and do this and do that. And the woman's supposed to be home making your dinner, raising your kids. And people are like, oh, and it's like, you know, go to the gym, work out, get a good job, you know, be masculine. That is really lost right now in this world. There's a big feminization of men right now by design. And so they are very effective at persuasion on what they're saying. So, yeah, so just more people that I believe they just want to shut up these people because they're effective. All right, Owen, non-doom and gloom or doom and gloom? What do you have?
Well, on the Tates, I, I would just say, like, I think it is— there certainly is a psyop against the Tates. I don't— I can't say whether or not these charges are legitimate or not because I don't know what they did or didn't do. I would give them a presumption of innocence since they haven't been convicted of anything. Um, and but I would say, like, I have just noticed for years, like, those— again, I scan the news every day and I see all kinds of stories especially in Australia for some reason, how they're just complaining left and right about the Tate brothers and how they need to be stopped because they're causing all this corrupt, you know, disruption in the classrooms and the boys are doing these sexist things and it's all because of the Tate brothers. And it's like, okay, this is, this is ridiculous. And so I, I certainly could believe that, you know, they're charging him just because they want to take him off the playing field. They just want to make him go away.
Yeah.
And, um, I am a little disappointed that the US you know, had him arrested and extradited. But I suppose with all the agreements we have, they probably just had to do that.
But, and maybe if they just had one citizenship, it would be helpful to them, but they have dual. That's just my opinion. I don't know. Everyone just pick one. Pick one, people. Pick America.
But in other good news, um, the, the court has ruled in Texas that they can bar illegals from getting in-state tuition. So that was challenged in court and now affirmed by a federal court that Texas can prohibit illegal immigrants from receiving in-state tuition at public universities. I guess it's no surprise that the leftists would try and challenge that, but, um, it seems like just such common sense to me that it's like you can't just let someone decide, I'm just going to come here and do it. I mean, I, and I find it personally insulting because it's like they've already had all these rules and restrictions put in place so the people who live here and are citizens can't do that. They can't, you know, my son went out of state to college, and that because his in-state college didn't accept him, I couldn't— we didn't even have that option. And it cost me, I would say, six figures just from that. And I did look into it. I'm like, well, what if I moved across the border? Because it wasn't that far away. And it was very clear that they had made sure that couldn't happen, that like, no, you have to have already lived here for several years, and you have to establish residency and you can't just move here and then get in-state tuition. And so like they've made sure that people here, legitimate citizens, can't do it. So why the hell would we let illegal immigrants just show up on the doorstep and say, I'm going to get in-state tuition? It's ridiculous. So I'm glad Texas is doing it. I hope other states do it. And I hope the federal government just says nobody's allowed to do it. But I don't know how that's going to go.
Yep. All right, Marcela, give us a good news story. Do you have something upbeat?
Keir Starmer resigned today. Um, there you go.
That was good. Good, Marcela, good job.
Did get her resignation. There's a new, a new person in, in place of him, Andy Burnham. Um, he is—
tell everyone who Keir Starmer was.
Keir Starmer is the Prime Minister of the UK, or was— yes, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. So he resigned this morning. I mean, it was— this was known, um, it was in the works because he have the, uh, Labour Party's— he wasn't very popular after 2 years, so he got ousted, just like many others.
Everyone's saying the new one's worse.
The new one is even, uh, more— well, bigger, more, more charming, I would say, but bigger leftist. So he's a charming leftist.
Charming left. Who's the most charming leftist in America, I wonder? You guys drop in the chat. Who's the most charming? No, he's not charming.
He, he does have charm.
No, he oozes slimy snake to me.
He, he's not the type where like you think, uh, Hillary Clinton thing.
Well, yeah, apples and oranges. AOC.
It's all relative though. Can you point to someone who you think you find more charming?
Then, then Mondami?
Yeah.
A leftist?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, Fetterman is more charming.
He's not, he's, but he's like on the other side of that, right? He's not.
Oh, you mean like a woke?
You don't consider, yeah, yeah. The leftist version.
Hmm. A charming woke? No.
I'm sorry.
They're all the same, I guess.
I mean, who's more charming? Like Cenk Uygur or, or Mondami?
Oh, well, come on. Mondami.
Okay.
Yeah.
How about, uh, would you consider that, that, uh, who's that podcaster?
The Breakfast Club guy?
Scott Adams? No, not him. I don't even know what he's like.
Charlamagne tha God?
Yeah, yeah.
Charming?
Yeah.
No.
Okay.
Uh-uh. I could do this all day. Who else? Who else?
Well, I'm just trying to think of people that might even, because I think Mamdami is the obvious answer and I don't know.
Oh, really?
I mean, I'm not saying he's the most charming person I've ever met. I'm just and I, I'm disgusted by him too, but I just like, I think that's because we're not leftists and we find that disgusting. But when you have to try and be objective and just say, okay, among that group of radicals, who's the most charming? I mean, I don't, you know, she loves her Gavin. Great names. Well, that's the thing, like, you could think about Gavin Newsom too, but it's like, he's, he's a used car salesman. Like, I don't find. I don't, I don't think of him as charming.
I'm sure some women on that side find him charming, but I, I don't find him charming at all. Um, yeah. All right, so I guess, yeah. Oh, Don Lemon says all these people are telling him to run for president. Sure they are, Don. Sure they are. My God. And he's—
I think we encourage him. Let's embrace and amplify Don. You're right, everyone wants you. Go for it.
He's like sitting there in his Hamptons backyard, all preppy, like, yeah, I am considering it because 4 people said I should. Oh my Lord, these people love themselves. Cory Booker? No, not charming. I'll have to think about it overnight. But, um, all right, you guys, so we did it. Guess who's coming tomorrow? Joshua Lysak is coming tomorrow. We have got to pick up because I'm gonna go back tonight and, um, quickly go through the last time he was here and we were talking about his book the, um, about the Haitians in Ohio. That was such a good conversation, and we were like, oh my God, we have to keep this going. So he agreed to come back tomorrow, which is so nice. So we will, um, pick that back up, and he's also going to give us some updates on Scott's biography, which he is working on with Joel Pollack. He's the editor, and apparently an amazing editor, not that we doubted that. Um, all right, you guys, so listen, Thank you to Scott Adams and Shelley Adams for allowing this show to continue. We're here, we're communing. It's great. Thank you to every single person that shows up here, whether it's every day or once in a while. We appreciate every single person here. I'm looking at you guys in the chat and everyone watching the replay. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Okay, you guys, I know Joel calls him Josh, and I'm not going to be the one to tell Joel it's Joshua. So if you guys want to let him know, let him know. Oh, you pre-ordered? You heard it already. Awesome. Okay, you guys, so let's, uh, I'll do an Akira song, um, and then I'm going to go play a game with my friends poolside on a river. I mean, life is good. All right, you guys, so let's have a closing sip to Scott. We'll do an Akira song and we'll see you back here tomorrow. All right, everybody, let's be useful, all the things. To Scott.
To Scott.
Okay, what are we gonna do? What are we gonna do? Let's pick one. Okay. Oh, how about Repetition and Simplicity? I don't know if we've done that, but— oh, all right. Yeah, tomorrow I have another one for us. Okay, let's do Repetition and Simplicity. This is from Akira the Dawn, meaningwave.com. Meaningwave.com.
You want to make sure that you always inject novelty. It's what triggers memory, because your brain will get bored of the sameness. So you need to trigger memory and attention with contrast. Is a way to get people to move from where they are to where you want them to be, you just say, well, it's much, much less expensive than this. So contrast is one of the most important buttons. Use contrast often. Hey, you don't want to be this bad, you could be over here. Repetition and simplicity. Our brains are just simple machines. Repetition and simplicity. Our brains are just simple machines. The more you repeat, the more the wiring gets solidified. Repetition and simplicity. Our brains are just simple machines, and if you keep things simple, the brain can process it and deal with it. And if you keep things simple, the brain can process it and deal with it. If it's complicated, your brain The human brain has a tendency to just flush it out. Can't deal with it, flush it out. The fake because is a form of pseudo-logic. Sometimes you need to get people moving with a fake reason that doesn't even actually pass logical standards, but people don't need logical reasons. Just look at politics. People have incredibly different opinions, and many of them are smart. So if you've got smart people on opposite sides of basically every issue, you can see that they don't need real reason. We're not a species that operates on real reasons. We just— we'll take a fake reason, we'll We'll take one we made up, we'll take a guess, we'll follow our friends. Once you understand that people don't need real reasons, it frees you. Because if you're locked in a little world at a lower level of awareness where you say, "Well, I'm not going to convince somebody unless I have a real reason." Sorry, that's not the reality any of us live in. Real reasons are good if you have them, use them. But we don't need them. Real reasons are good if you have them, use them, but we don't need them. Real reasons are good if you have them, use them, but we don't need them. Once you know you don't need them and that reality can be authored, you're in better shape. Repetition and simplicity. Our brains are just simple machines. Repetition and simplicity. Our brains are just simple machines— more you repeat, the more of the wiring gets solidified! Repetition simplicity? Our brain's are just simple machine...
repetition and simplicité our branes are jus' symple machins reputation n simplicitez our braans are jus' simble mashinns no moar u repee yew wanna be moro than me?! The wiring gets solidified. Repetition and simplicity. Our brains are just simple machines. Our brains are simple machines, you guys. I love it. I always feel like no matter which one you pick, it just works.
