But here's how they get ahead. Here's the good stuff. They want to know— parents, if you can just lock into this— who is your student, what matters to them, and how have they proven it. If you can just show the colleges those 3 things, you're golden because you're unique. Guess what? College is a business. They want you to come make their school better so when you leave, you put the diploma on the wall and you start marketing for them. They're not looking for you to come sit in the seat, take an education, and just drift away. That is not gonna help them one bit. So they're looking for changemakers. They're looking for passion with a purpose project, a strategy that includes more than sign up and show up. They really want to see what is that student made of? Who are they? Well, guess what? Students look at their phone. They don't know. They're not on the street all day. They're not doing the stuff that generations before them could tell you. Parents, I encourage you, ask your child, look them in the eye and say, who are you? And they're going to think you're nuts. But really listen and say, no, no, tell me, who are you? And they're, they're, it's blank. And then ask them, who would your best friend say you are? Who would your grandparents say you are? They get embarrassed. They're like, oh my gosh, it's so embarrassing. They just talk about me all day long. It's just ridiculous. And I'm like, and that is what you have to do on your college application.
