A short motivational story narrated by Siddharth Rajsekar about a boy on a football team who, previously overlooked for being short, returns for a final match after his blind father’s recent death and scores the winning goal—framed as an example of internal motivation. There was a boy who was a part of a football team. This boy was very consistent in the practice, but the problem was this boy was not very tall. So the coach would never give him an opportunity to play in the matches. And his father would bring this boy every day and drop him for the practices and for the matches. And this team ends up coming to the semi finals. But this boy has never played a single match for one week. This boy does not come for practice. And the boy comes on the day of the finals. And the game has started. And this boy goes to the coach and says, coach, coach, please let me play. And the coach tells him, what? You've not even played a single game. You are not there for the last one week. I can't even let you go and play this game. And again he begs his coach, please, please let me in. I want to play. It is half time in the game and this team is actually losing. After the halftime, the coach tells his boy, okay, go in. And this boy starts to play in such a way that everybody is amazed. And in the last three minutes, this boy plays in such a way where he shoots the winning goal. They're all literally crying and they go into the dressing room. And then the coach asks him, why didn't I see this in you? And where were you for the last one week? You are so consistent before this. And then this boy says, coach, I didn't tell you something. The coach asked, what? He says, do you remember my father used to drop me every day for practice? My father was actually blind. He could not see me. And last week he passed away. And the reason I wanted to play this game so much is because that I knew or I know that my father was looking at me from above. That's why I played the way that I played today. Everybody broke down. Now, this is a story of internal motivation.
