In this short self‑help video Sandra Roycroft‑Davis explains why many people feel stuck with weight loss despite knowing what to eat. She argues that "food noise" – the mental chatter and automatic habits around eating – undermines willpower. She offers three practical, low‑effort strategies: (1) become curious about the exact moment before you reach for food, asking yourself what need you are trying to satisfy (hunger, boredom, reward, habit); (2) retrain the brain’s automatic response with a 9‑minute audio from her Slim Pod Programme, which uses specific language and imagery to shift subconscious patterns, supplemented by video coaching and community support; and (3) shift focus from perceived failures to small daily wins, recording at least one positive food‑related moment each day to reinforce progress. Throughout she frames these steps as gentle, non‑rule‑based approaches and ends with a call‑to‑action for a 10‑day free trial of the Slim Pod Programme, positioning the programme as a tool to make healthier choices feel natural and boost confidence.

You finish your dinner, you're sitting on the sofa, and somehow you're still thinking about food. Then that same conversation starts. I shouldn't do it, but I really fancy something. Why can't I just stop thinking about food? If you recognise that, I want to show you 3 ways to approach things differently without giving yourself another list of food rules. And the third that I'm going to tell you is especially important if one difficult evening usually turns into, well, I've ruined it now, I'll start again on Monday. I'm Sandra Roycroft-Davis, creator of the Slim Pod Programme and author of the best-selling book, The Weight's Over— Take Back Control. So let's start with something you can try today. Number 1, get curious about the moment just before you eat. You probably know plenty about healthy eating already. Let's face it, most of us do. But knowing what to eat doesn't necessarily change what you feel like eating when you're exhausted, stressed, or finally getting 5 minutes to yourself. Think about that trip to the kitchen. Are you hungry? Does food feel like a reward? Are you bored? Or is this simply what you always do when you sit down in the evening, just munch away mindlessly? Those are different situations. So next time, try asking yourself just one question: what's happening for me right now? There's no Right or wrong answer, and this isn't a test you pass by refusing food. If you're hungry, eat. You're simply beginning to notice the pattern, and that's really important. Perhaps you discover that what you're looking forward to isn't really the biscuit, it's the break that goes with it. That gives you something useful to work with, and something much kinder than, I've got no willpower. Number 2, work on the automatic response as well as the conscious decision. And this is the question that people often ask me, Sandra, I understand my patterns, but how do I actually change them? That's exactly why I created the Slim Pod Programme. At its centre is a 9-minute audio designed to help retrain your brain's automatic responses around food. So, healthier choices can start to feel far more natural and instinctive. And you might be thinking, how can listening to something possibly help with my weight? That's a great question, a very fair question. The audio itself doesn't burn fat. That would be too good to be true. Listening isn't a shortcut around what happens in your body. Its purpose is to support changes in the habits and responses that influence your everyday eating. It uses carefully constructed language and imagery to work on those familiar patterns, the automatic reach for food, the feeling that you need a treat, the habit of eating without really noticing you're doing mindless eating. The wider programme adds video coaching and community support to help you understand and build on those changes. What might those changes look like? I get asked. People tell me that they've realised they weren't looking for their usual afternoon snack, or they've left something on their plate because they didn't want it anymore, not because they were following rules. Those are individual experiences, and everyone's progress is different. But they illustrate what we're aiming for— less effort spent arguing with yourself around food. Any weight change comes through a change in behaviour over time, not through the audio itself. Here's something to consider today. Choose one recurring moment that you'd like to feel easier in relation to food. Perhaps it's the kitchen after dinner. Perhaps it's opening a packet of treats when work gets stressful. Start with one situation that you don't have to overhaul your whole life at once. And number 3, notice what's improving in your day, not just what went wrong. Imagine you've had a day when you feel more comfortable around food. You enjoyed your lunch, you noticed when you had enough. Or you went for a walk and felt good afterwards. Then that evening you might have eaten more than you intended. But which part of the day gets all your attention? For so many people it's that last bit, the bit that went wrong, and suddenly the whole day becomes bad, everything else disappears. But that evening shouldn't erase the earlier moments. So tonight, try writing down one small thing that went well. Perhaps you noticed an automatic habit. Perhaps you enjoyed a meal without criticising yourself. Perhaps you had a difficult moment and carried on without deciding the whole week was ruined. It doesn't have to be The number on the scales that's dictating your life. This is something we really encourage in the Slim Pod Programme, recognising small changes rather than overlooking them while you wait for something dramatic. And when things don't go as you hoped, you can ask yourself, what would help next time? You're learning about yourself. You don't need to deliver a verdict on yourself. So those are your 3 starting points. Notice what happens before you eat, work on the automatic patterns behind your choices, and give the small signs of progress some attention. They're really important. I created Slim Pod to do all the above for you with not much effort, and you can experience this for yourself with our 10-day free trial. You'll find the link below. The aim is to help healthier choices feel more natural and instinctive, and to help you feel more confident in yourself along the way. See you next time.
