Episode 100: Paralyzed By Perfection? Learn The Beauty Of Imperfection In My 100th Imperfect Episode
29 Jun 2023 · 0 min
Stacey Lauren celebrates the 100th episode of her "Do the Thing" podcast with a reflective, informal monologue recorded from her car in the rain. She recounts moments from a celebratory photo shoot, describes how the podcast led to community "Do the Thing" challenges (notably a dating-dare challenge and a Start-a-Podcast challenge), and emphasizes the central message that "imperfect action is better than no action at all." The episode frames imperfection as liberating, highlights growth through trying new experiences, and invites listeners to join future challenges and continue stretching their comfort zones.

Two dating challenges.
I do really believe 100% from every part of me that everyone has the capacity to be able to do the things that they want and not to be held back by the mental baggage that's in our head that we want to push through.
Welcome to the do the Thing podcast. In each episode, we get down and personal with people who go after the things they want to make all their wildest dreams come true. Join us as we unveil and dissect a formula for what it takes to do the thing. Here is your host, Stacy Lauren.
I love that you can hear the rain in the background. So I so pretty much here I am in my car again. I figured I would celebrate my 100th podcast episode with me being in my car again, because that's how I did my first one, and I think it's perfect to do my 100th one all also in the car as the rain is pouring down. My daughter and I just did the photo shoot for the hundredth episode. We got these huge balloons and we went in the rain, and I'm trying to hold up the balloons and they're blowing away. So it was perfect because you know what I realized after doing 100 episodes of do the Thing is how many people are paralyzed by perfection and how you take this moment of imperfection and you can can find the beauty in it. And giving yourself that permission, it frees you and it releases you from so many things, which gives you the courage to do everything, to try everything, to open your mind up, to really find the joy and the humor and the fun. And you know what? That's what I'm having the best time with this podcast and all the people I'm meeting and all of the things that I'm doing and all of the new experiences, and it's been the most magnificent experience. Experience. Just being able to connect deeper to people, create more meaningful connections, relationships, experiences, and even getting the motivation to, like, get outside my comfort zone. And also, like, learning more. Anything you want to learn, you can bring on a guest and talk to them about everything you're curious about. I'm learning so much about myself. I'm learning about do the thing. I'm learning what's meaningful to me, what's important. It's just been such an unbelievable experience. And then through the podcast and through uncovering do the Thing and actually really dissecting the formula of what it takes for people to do the thing, it's like I've uncovered this matrix of life, and I'm now seeing this formula everywhere. I see it in 12 step programs, I see it in companies. I see it at gyms, the ones that are really working well, where they have the pieces of the formula embedded. So I'm so excited to celebrate with you guys. I'm really honored to have this. This experience to be able to go through with you. And then the other thing that's come out of this podcast, which I didn't even imagine before it started, but was doing these challenges. So pretty much it's based on what's real for me is that I'm doing these do the Thing challenges. So the first challenge I did was a Do the Thing dating dare challenge because I got tired of seeing person after person just so frustrated with dating apps. So I decided to show them how meet people a different way and in the wild and getting them out of their comfort zone. That's been amazing. We've done two challenges on that so far. I'm about to start the do the Thing Start a Podcast challenge, and that just came up out of nowhere. It was a dare that was given in the dating challenge. The first one, no one took us up on it. And then the second one, people had heard the episode where the dare was given, and then they were asking about it, and all of a sudden we did a zoom with the founder and of the platform that my podcast is based on. And I got so much great feedback from that. I've been just led to create a more accountable system for people to start podcasts, which has then led to me realizing why people should start podcasts, because I think a lot of people think a podcast is just for business, but it's not. You can create it from almost this personal expression of yourself. And so where just like you would be on Facebook or Instagram or TikTok and have your voice heard that way, A podcast is just another way to explore more, learn more, have new experiences, and pretty much do whatever you want with it. And it's unlimited. Everything's unlimited and untapped. So, anyway, I am so excited to celebrate with you. I'm so excited to have the concepts of do the Thing really, really tied in now in terms of what is important, which is really that perfection. So I am thankful for you guys for listening to this podcast. I'm thankful for everyone that has followed the podcast. I'm thankful for those of you that have joined my challenges. And if you're new and just joining, come along for the ride because we're onto some really fun and exciting things. And the biggest thing, I want you guys to just take out of the first hundred episodes is that imperfect action is better than no action at all. And so really, I'm going to say it again, imperfect action is better than no action at all. So I just really want you to like have that feel and feed into your body. So as you're approaching something new, you just give yourself permission to be a beginner, give yourself permission to be imperfect and learn and go and just enjoy that process. Because that's where the adventure comes. It comes from you figuring it out and being able to look back and seeing how much you grow and evolved. So thanks again you guys for joining and for being a part of this journey, and I really appreciate everyone that has been a part of this community and I look forward to so much fun and excitement and comfort zone stretches with you over the next hundred episodes.
