Solo Episode with Stacey: Everyone Can Start A Podcast, Just Use Messy Imperfection Action So You Can Do The Thing
29 Jun 2023 · 0 min
A solo episode of the Do the Thing podcast (host Stacey Lauren) encouraging listeners to begin projects despite imperfect conditions, using the example of starting a podcast. Stacey describes recent community podcast launches (Healing Words by Pamela Nichols; So Many Things to Do by Achira Joy), an in-person meetup where diverse practitioners began planning shows, and promotes an upcoming "Start a Podcast" challenge beginning April 17. The episode emphasizes messy, imperfect action, community support, and reducing barriers (mics/equipment) to get started.

I do really believe 100% from every part of me that everyone has the capacity to be able to do the things that they want and not to be held back by the mental baggage that's in our head that we want to push through.
Welcome to the do the Thing podcast. In each episode, we get down and personal with people who go after the things they want to make all their wildest dreams come true. Join us as we unveil and dissect a formula for what it takes to do the thing. Here is your host, Stacy Lauren.
Hey, everyone. Welcome to the do the Thing podcast. This is your host, Stacy Lauren. All right, guys, this is another car episode. I love these car episodes because it's still doing the thing, even though you don't have perfect mode of ability to record at the moment. But when you have an idea that comes and you want to record, I think it's still cool to be able to get your thoughts out and to be able to share them. And so I think it's timed with me wanting to do the Start a Podcast challenge and empowering people to start their own podcasts and not to worry about mics or anything else in the beginning while they're still figuring it out. Because every time you have to think about all the different things that could go wrong or could get in the way, it's only gonna stop you from doing the thing. And so I think it's important for me to continue to also do this as I am helping others get on their journey to start their own podcast. So anyway, what I wanted to come on to say was last night I had invited some people over to start a podcast, and I'm still preparing for the Start a Podcast challenge, which starts April 17, and I'm getting really excited for it. I have some beta podcasts that have begun. One in particular. Actually, there's a few in particular. One is called Healing Words by Pamela Nichols. She's a Do the Thing community member and also as an author, and she's even co hosting a challenge with me right now for starting a book. And she started a podcast called Healing Words, and it's amazing. Already she's interviewed four people, five people, I think, and each one has been just so inspirational. And she's interviewing authors who have written books and have healed through writing their book. And so it's just the information and the connection that she's getting with the author, sharing their story has been just beautiful. And we published her podcast on Spotify the other day, which was really exciting. And then Achira Joy has the podcast called so Many Things to Do. And she is just so fun to see her in her light and interviewing different people. I was also interviewed by her, which was really fun. And she just gets a different side of people to come out that you may not have seen before just because of the way that she has this really fun, open minded curiosity for how things work and just really finds the joy in people doing different things. And so those are a few of the podcasts that are coming from it so far. There's been several others that are in the works, which is really exciting to see. And then last night I had met a few people from the comedy experience that I had. And then I have a shamanic healer that I work with that wanted to start a podcast. And then who else was it? Oh, a friend of mine. He's my friend now, I guess, but my friend's husband, who also did a comedy thing, but that's how I know him. So it was kind of this funny joke I had afterwards where I was like, what do you get when you put a healer, a chiropractor, a comedian and a psychic all together at Stacy's house? And you get four freaking cool podcasts, all different things. And we just have so much fun going through, setting up each of our own podcasts. And I think it really just shows that piece of the formula that I love, which is the M and I name my people. And it just shows that when you have a common goal and you have something that you want to do that is just different from maybe your current friends or people that you normally hang out with, when you can surround yourself with people that want to do that same thing as you, that's what gives you the community. It gives you the connectedness that you need to be able to do the thing. And it also gives you a safe place to fail because they're all going through the same thing, so they all get what you're doing. And so that's what just really sparked in me today. And I'm just really excited to share that with you and let you know how I was feeling. But I'm gonna go. I'm heading to my mastermind right now. And I just got here and I'm just excited that I'm doing the thing by recording when I can. And I told you guys before, these solo episodes, for whatever reason, are so painful for me. I'm not sure why. And I think it's because I still have in my head that I want to do it on the mic or however I want to do it in a better way, but in order for you to really see what Doing the Thing is, I think I have to just really fall into this car episode and make this more of a regular thing. So anyway, I'm encouraging you guys to go out there and do the thing, whatever that thing is to you. It could be starting a podcast, and if you do want to do that, come join our challenge, which is coming April 17th. I'm really excited for it. We are getting ready for it all and it's going to be so great. And whether or not you decide to publish the podcast is up to you. But just being on the journey for starting it is going to be worth your time for sure. All right, guys, well have a great day and do the Thing.
