Handwriting Copy and Analyzing Sales Copy The Best Way To Be More Productive Copywriting? 📝🤔

Stefan Georgi and a guest debate whether copywriters should handwrite successful sales letters. Stefan skips handwriting entirely, instead learning by typing, transcribing, and annotating to find patterns. Jason Henderson recommends handwriting, but the real answer depends on what actually works for you.

But let's go to Giovanni's.
Okay, cool. It's from Giovanni on Facebook. Is it better to hand write successful sales letters or just analyze them?
I mean, everyone's gonna tell you handwrite. So I guess handwrite, But I don't know. I've never handwritten a letter in my life, so it's worked out okay for me. I just can't be that guy. I mean, I know people say it's great, so I. But I'm, you know, I personally have never had a letter in my life. I've analyzed them, I've watched tons of VSLs, I've read tons of letters. I've typed them up. I've went through and made notes or made comments in the different sections of what I like. I've looked for commonality, so I think analyzing is very valuable. And again, I've, like, typed them while listening to vsl and I type it out even though I can get transcribed, things like that, but I can't. I'm not the guy who's like, you got a head, right, bro? I know you've handwritten a shit ton of stuff, so you probably disagree with me, but that's my opinion, right?
I don't think so. I think it's whatever, obviously. How can I disagree? Give me one thing. If you sucked and you're trying to come at me and be like, oh, bro, you don't need to do that. I'd be like, I don't know, you should consider it. But I'm not in a position to bring that up. So I think for me, what made it really valuable is I just would treat it as a meditation. Like, some people, they really stress out while they do it. In my experience, people don't learn. Or at least I don't learn as well. Excuse me. My goodness. While I'm like, stressed out or trying to do two things at once. So by handwriting and analyzing at the same time, that. That never worked great for me. But, like, I could put on, like, honestly, I got really low standards. So just. Just being around the framework for that time, like, I'll put on Ancient Aliens or something. Like, I know a lot of people are like, bro, podcasts learn all day and this, like, no, I don't want to. I want to, like, be relaxed and in a good state of mind, handwrite for 15 to 30 minutes and then eventually at some point go back and do it. But I'm into like that subconscious kind of just vibe with Eugene Schwartz for a half hour. It was really valuable for me.
Also Though let's not say you're not learning when you're watching Ancient Aliens, because you're learning a lot. Like you're finding out who actually built the pyramids. You're learning, you know, there's a lot you're actually learning there. So let's not sell yourself.
And honestly, I've come up with it with some, a fair bit of content, like realizing, for example, like, if you're in the biz ops space or something, you're trying to get somebody to sell something. Do you realize they've literally sold people one way tickets to Mars for like 80 grand? Like you're gonna die on a rock and people are lining out the door to do it. So, like, how can you, as someone who sells, let's say a fitness coaching program, sit there and tell me you can't sell your shit? Like, you definitely can. It's like a hundred thousand dollars to die on a rock that takes like four months to get to. You'll be fine. Like, definitely. Like, it's really good for that mindset type of stuff. But, but yeah, anyway, like, obviously do it. Do what works for you. You know, for me it would be like ancient aliens or like jazz music type of vibe or just something, you know, both equally academic. All right, cool. So I think that's it. So I hope that's. That was somewhat valuable. Oh, Jason Henderson.
Yeah, he's never done the hand or hardly done the rain by hand, but some of the most successful copiers I know recommend it. Plus nobody ever says to do it and do nothing else. Yeah, I agree, Jason. I mean, again, that's my. I have to answer from my own experience, which is I've never done it, so I just can't be like, you got to do it. I'm sure that it's good advice and the fact that people recommend it makes sense, you know, just I gotta be authentic to what I do. For me, it sounds like a nightmare and my hand would hurt. You know, Michael Rossein joked about, you know, handwriting leads to hand cramps or something like that. It's great for hand cramps. And that's the way I would look at it. Like, I just feel like I'm. It would take forever. I get frustrated and get bored. It'll make me not like copy. It'll make me not like copy. So to me, that's not as beneficial as watching a video and making notes and getting excited, you know, so. But Jason Henderson is a genius. And, well, he also doesn't do it a lot. But the point is. Everything's different. All right, cool. Yeah.
