Millionaire Mindset Secret: Just Show Up

A short YouTube monologue by Stefan Georgi arguing that a major key to business and sales success is simply showing up and caring for customers. He gives repeated personal anecdotes (car and real estate dealerships, furniture shopping) to show that many salespeople and organizations fail to respond or follow through, so responsiveness and effort create outsized advantages. The piece is a practical exhortation aimed at entrepreneurs, salespeople, and copywriters.

So, you know, people say like 99% of life is just showing up or say something like that. I don't know exactly what it is, but it's really true. And the reason it's true is because as obvious as it sounds, 99% of people don't fucking show up ever. It's like I want to be like, I don't try to channel my inner Gary Vee when I talk about this, but it's something. I've noticed this for such a long time, even when I was a lot younger and had like no money and anything like that. Now I'm older and I have lots of money. But the principle is the same, which is when I was starting out a business early on or today I have multiple businesses. The vast majority of salespeople in an organization are awful. The vast majority of organizations are awful and they don't care about their customers. And the experience you get is terrible. I can't tell you how many times I can just rattle off examples, like most recently about wanting to get a luxury car and texting the guy at the dealership. I'm driving a fucking 2020 Bentley Flying Spur W12. Laura can do the glamour shot camera woman, but like, yeah, it's a sick car. First edition. Thanks, Laura, for pointing that out too. And then like the following week I hit up the. The rep about Dana Bentega. So like, because our family car is leases up on it and you know, so I'm like, hey man, like, you know, can we do this and that for this Bottega? He's like, I'll look into it. And that was last Wednesday. Today's Monday. It's five days ago. I sent a follow up today. He's like, oh, yeah, I'll get back to you on Thursday about it. So it's gonna be like eight days, but I'm like trying to. To buy like a. The Bentegra Islands paid 200,000, $220,000 car. It took eight days. And the guy had to follow up with the guy to be like, hey, I'm trying to like buy this car and give you like, my money. Maybe he's not on commission, I don't know. But I remember buying a Nissan Titan or actually not buying a Nissan Titan, wanting to buy a Nissan Titan with Laura. We were in mobile, Alabama of 2013. We lived in Pensacola. We were in Mobile, Alabama. I went to buy a truck. I saw his Titan. I liked it. I called the guy at the dealership, I said we'd look to get, gave me his Card. We went to look at other trucks, and I was like, you know, I want to get this Titan. I called him, he's like, hey, you know, we closed in like an hour, and then we're closed on the next day. So, you know, come back on, like, Monday or something. We can buy it. And I was like, no, I don't want to come back. Like, I want to. I'm here to buy a truck. I drove an hour away with the intent to buy something. I want to buy something. But the guy was like, yeah, you know, nah, I'm going to just kind of wind it down for the day. So then I bought a Toyota Tundra instead, and I had that truck, so it doesn't matter. That's what's funny. Kind of, right? Tundra is a great car, too. But I can give you these stories from all the way back when I was buying, like, used cars for, like, $7,000. Today, like, the principle is the same whether it's high end or not high end. It's people and sales reps who just don't really care that much, aren't that motivated, and lose Sal because of it. So I'm not like a sales guy in the traditional sense, but I'm a copywriter. I saw stuff of the written word, and I'm somebody who's a business person who's run a bunch of businesses, and you notice it time and time again, which is that people just don't care. We've done this with real estate. We looked at houses that cost $4 million, that costs like 10,000 or $20,000 a month to rent, and you reach out to them, they never respond. Or they're like, hey, oh, yeah, can you just text me what you're looking for? It's like, no, no, I can't. You know what you can do is you can take my fucking information and then you can have try to sell me, like, work really hard to get the sale and get your commission of like $80,000 or whatever. It's gonna be like, how that happens. But again, this happens with condos and things that cost 200,000. It's not even about the money. The point is, it's crazy to me, I guess now being a different place in my life where things are higher price, you think, oh, but the service is gonna be better. But it's not. And this goes back to why. Like, just showing up and actually making, like, making sales, caring, responding to customers, working hard, like, hustling all that stuff that we want. I want to. I was wanted to make fun of Gary V. For but it's like he's, he's not wrong when he talks about that stuff at all. Like he's not wrong. It's like that is a huge part of it. And companies that actually care get the sale. We wouldn't look at furniture recently. Woman just did not care. Could not have given less of a fuck. This is the middle of COVID and we like, you know, we're like gonna furnish an entire house. She like just kind of showed us one thing. No suggestive selling. We're like, oh, we'll go look somewhere else. And that was it. And there's a couple things we kind of like didn't, didn't buy. It happens non stop. So you want to be successful in your business. If you start a business, then just care, care about the customer and their experience and their needs. You want to be successful as a sales rep or a job in customer service is like care, go above and beyond and actually show up. If you do that, the idea that people are further ahead of you in life is bullshit. Because all these people in all these positions that you want to be in, especially when it comes to selling, are like 95% of them at least are really lazy and not lazy, but just don't care. They don't care. And God bless them, maybe they don't. I'm not saying have to care. Maybe that's, you know, it's not for them. But the other day, if you do care and you're trying to make a better life for yourself, this is how you get there is by just. It's so easy. The secret is just care. Show up, try hard, be responsive, things like that. And you'll be shocked by how successful you can become even as a copywriter with just talking with clients, providing updates, interfacing with them, things like that, delivering your project on time. When you say you're going to just for a copywriter alone, that can set you Apart from 99% of copywriters who look at the client as a burden and a pain in the ass instead of looking at them at some of their servicing and helping to grow their business and to reach their dreams. So that's it. Rant over. But hopefully you find it valuable.
