Rich People Can Be Worker Bees Too (Rant)

Stefan Georgi argues that wealth doesn't free you from being a worker bee. He overheard parents at Ruth Chris obsessing over college and grades, trapped in the same system as anyone else. Entrepreneurship and creating your own income offers a genuinely different path.

We're filming currently. We're filming currently. Okay. Well, the thing I. The realization I had when we were eating at a Ruth Chris on a Wednesday with maybe four other people or parties in the restaurant was kind of about, God, it's complex. I'm gonna try to get it all out and kind of share it in a way if I can. Here's the thing. One of my best childhood friends, he has a memory of his dad telling him that the road needs worker bees, okay? So about people who are not going to ever thrive, that they're kind of, you know, their. Their purpose in life is to be a worker bee who, you know, like serves you table or, you know, works at McDonald's or whatever it is. That was the point that my friend's dad was trying to make. And I understand that. And on some level, I actually agree. Right. Like we do we. I don't know if we. But that's the reality. There's people from different abilities and things like that and different. Not everyone's gonna be a fucking plastic surgeon, right? Or a rocket scientist or whatever it is. However, what kind of struck me at the Ruth Chris was that the family in the table next to us, there's like a nice family and it's a husband, wife, and then there are two young kids. They're not young. Both high school, actually, probably me. One seemed like a senior, one maybe a freshman or sophomore. And the entire, entire conversation they had for the hour plus over there. And I lived in more eye contact with the phone, but I was making a bunch of lane changes, merging onto the highway, doing all this kind of stuff, so I had to be safe. So don't kill us while recording this video, because that would be no fun. But the whole conversation, the whole time I was kind of listening in, and I intend to do that, maybe you do as well, is that it's all about college. It's like about the GPA and how if you have a 3.0, that's a B. If you have a 3.3. 3. Talking about classes, talking about the expenses of the different classes, talking AP courses, talking about your grades and AP courses, talking about. And I was like, Jesus Christ. Like, what are. Like, all they're doing is training fucking other worker bees, right? So here, this is my realization, right? This is this elitist thing of, oh, the person who works at some service level menial job, like they're a worker bee. But the people who can eat at Ruth Chris on a Wednesday at an empty restaurant, well, they've got to figure it out. But I'm like, no, they don't. Like, they're literally just cogs in the fucking machine too. You know, like, there they are just. Yeah, they're eating at a nice restaurant, but the mom's talking about her job and her like, work and how she had a good job in college and how then you get a good job out of. Because of that, she got a good job out of college and she was able to experience cool things through her job and like all this work and stuff. But you're like, man, like, that's the. Sure. I don't know. Yeah, man, you get to eat at better at restaurants and maybe there's less stress, but maybe not because you're keed up at the Joneses all the time. Then you're gonna spend a bunch of money and probably be financially stressed. I don't know if the level of stress is way worse or not, but it just made me realize, okay, so even the people we see who are in the upper middle class, even some of the quote unquote rich people, you see, they're just worker bees too. They're going through the system and they're being pumped out and they're trying to just. They're becoming cogs in the machine. They're, I guess, a different part of the machine, but they're still a part of the machine. And it makes me think about why, what we do as Internet marketers, as digital marketers, as entrepreneurs, as freelancers, all of those things that get so unique and special because we are. We're not. We're not better than any individual, but we're better than that. We're better because we're not a cognitive machine. We're. We're creating our own destiny. Like, I look at myself and my wife and we're sitting there and we're having this dinner and we're, you know, decades younger than the, I don't know, 20 years younger than the parents of this, like, you know, these kids. And I realize, like, man, like this, like our life is objectively probably so much more awesome than most people. And it's not because of suckers of money, because these people probably have money too, right? It's because we're doing our own thing. We're creating our own reality and our own income and our own self worth and our own productivity. All these things. It's not being measured by societal kind of standards that are bullshit. So it just made me feel really inspired. I wanted to shoot this video and share it as I drive to go pick our daughter up to my mom's house and whatever, but it's like you can be rich and be a worker bee, too. That's the point I'm trying to make, and hopefully that comes through in this video.
