The Future of Shopify Ecommerce In a Post Pandemic World In 2021 - Ecom Trends To Spot and Exploit 💵

Saba and Brooks discuss live-stream shopping and VR showrooms as the next ecommerce frontier. Live shopping events work like QVC, moving inventory faster and creating appointment viewing. Facebook Live clothing sales and Oculus are early examples of where Shopify stores should focus.

This question is directed at Saba. Where do you see E Com going and what are your thoughts on live stream shopping?
Wow, okay. We just had this conversation with Stefan. I don't know how that got leaked, but yeah, so I do think, you know, the E Comm, there's a huge opportunity for E Comm store owners, especially shopify store owners to start doing live streams where they have like shopping events, you know, live events where they invite their customers to come check out like the week's deals and they can run basically live interactive events just to move inventory faster. Huge opportunities there. I mean, we talked about virtual reality, like moving that into virtual reality space where people can come and attend VR events, where they can pick up items that they're interested in. So I think just from a industry perspective and what's going on in the world in the next five, 10 years, E comm is definitely booming. I mean, it started this year mostly because of COVID It was just sort of like accelerated. But it is planned. There's a projected growth into the billions and trillions in the next 10 years. So more opportunities. And it's not just E commerce. It's not just physical goods. Right. Info products technically are E commerce because you're still, you're making a digital transaction. So yeah, I think it's just going to get bigger. And so copywriters and marketers who can nail E comm will definitely do well.
That's, you know, like I guess Kennedy from gkic. I mean like that was this really big claim to fame. Was proactive. Right. He wrote all those scripts and then we were talking about it. Well, Stefan's email is a great synopsis on this. And when Frank Kern's recognizing it, you know, there's a lot of power to it. And coincidentally, one of our mutual friends and I'd share this with Saba and Stefan, I think my friend Mara, who's Bill Glaser's daughter, just did a live. She did a live Facebook live sale. And she goes, she just told me, privately messaged me and said it went pretty well. But she suggested doing more at nighttime. I'm not exactly sure, but I don't know where her base is. But these are for consumer products. I think that was for her clothing.
Yeah, I mean it's the same concept as like QVC and HSN and QVC even knows between 7pm and 11pm is their prime time.
That's exactly.
It's the same thing about the whole live show thing. And one of the reasons why it might take off is because, you know, now that everybody has like, you know, the TiVo and like, nobody actually watches TV in real time anymore. People are like recording or watching it on YouTube, but, you know, they're not really tuning in anymore. There's no real prime time as there used to be in TV. You know, 20 years ago. This could be the next thing that people actually doing in a specific time. Right. That they. It's like after dinner, it's, you know, time to relax and they enjoy shopping as entertainment and not.
I just got a Facebook Oculus, which is ridiculous, by the way, if you've.
Never did get one. Finally, Brooks joined the. It's amazing. I haven't been this excited about video games since high school.
Yeah, me neither.
Is that the VR thing?
Yeah, yeah. Dude, I guarantee you that shopping is gonna go berserk on that thing. You'll be able to pick up and look at things and like virtual showrooms.
Virtual shopping events, you know, just all sorts of amazing things.
I spent like 80 bucks in a matter of like five minutes. I was like, I want that stupid.
But yeah, yeah, that's. And then I think you're totally right. Right. Like, everything goes in waves and trends. So we had the primetime thing with like two, three channels where everyone watched, sat down, watched the same shows, and now there's live streaming. But now live streaming is like overwhelming because now you have what, 8, 10, 12 things. So people are going to be like, all right, well, that's way too much shit. I can't deal with it. As we've all experienced where you're on Netflix and you're just like, I didn't even look at any of these titles. It's been like 20 minutes.
What am I doing?
You just end up watching. If you're me, I just watch like Bob Ross every night and just fall asleep.
There's gonna be like some developer out there. And this. Here it is, the million dollar idea. Some developer out there is gonna develop a platform that makes basically the live stream from a Shopify site, like a one click thing. And then all of your customers get a notification. Like, there's gonna be a formal platform where it becomes very easy for. For this to happen. And you know, then that way you actually get a good sizable audience. Right? It's not like that. You just go on, you know, I mean, if you go into Oculus, like it takes forever. Even when you browse the channels and the TV channels and stuff, you can't pick something to watch because there's just so much.
So there's got to so minimizing that is going to be really. Because we need folk. Right. Direct response is all about focusing attention.
Yeah, exactly.
So if you can, there's like a.
One click way for people to do it. Yeah.
Wow. And I don't, I know in the like the Colombian community right now, like in my like, like area in Rhode island, they actually, they do live. It's like it's, it's gambling but it's, it's, it's bingo. Right. They do live bingo at night. This guy set up a thing and it's gambling and like they use all the venmos and stuff. Literally. Apparently he's making a killing. I mean, I don't know how long it's gonna. They call it bingo. Right.
To be smart.
Right. Because everybody's kind of pulling together all the tools to make it work. I'm sure some developer out there is going to make a platform where these types of things are very easy to set up, like hub or some sort of tool that just makes it very easy.
So. Yeah. That's really interesting though how everything just goes in cycles. We went from having it scheduled to live on our terms to being now overwhelmed by that and going back to scheduling.
Scheduling. Yeah. But the idea being that it's like an exclusive event. Right. Like there's a start and end time. So if you don't show up, you miss out. There's like a huge. There's that element of you're gonna miss out, you're gonna miss out on the deals and like the even like the auction style selling. Right. There's that sense of urgency, like I have to get in line, I have to be there. I have to be there in person or I'm gonna miss out, miss on the chance to bid on something. And it's all happening in real time. So it creates its own sort of environment. But I think there's definitely a lot to it.
That's dope.
That's.
That's really cool.
