Hey, guys. Welcome back to the journey Principles. In this whiteboard lesson, we're going to break down the seven relationships you must have to win at life. So you're not going to miss a. Stay tuned.
So there's a truth that says, show me your five friends and I'll show your future. Nothing more is catapulted me towards my future or subtracted me from it than the relationships I had in place. I've had executive teams in different businesses that didn't really jive well or had their own motivations. I've had relationships like girlfriends along the way that kind of took me down a dark road. Relationships alone can either make or break your ultimate success. And understanding how to choose those relationships is pivotal if you're truly going to become unstoppable in your life. So let's go ahead and jump into this content because I think you're going to like it. These are seven relationships I use personally to make sure I don't get myself in trouble, basically to cover my six or my blind spot. Okay, here we go.
Number one, the guide. Okay. A guide is there to give you perspective.
Right? Guides give you direction.
And in many cases, motivation.
Guides are big part of making you.
Successful. For example, these videos are designed to be an element of a guide. Now, there are different types of guides, different types of mentors. This would be what's known as a digital mentor, right? It's me coming to you on camera in order for you to take the content and apply at your leisure. However, there are also guides that you're going to have face to face contact with, whether it's one of our life mastery guides coaches that we have here, or whether or not it's a close friend or family member. But just like we've talked about with other relationship things, you want to make sure that these people have the highest level of character, have your best interest at heart, and are not afraid to tell you the truth. Guides give you direction, perspective, and understanding. They help you see things you don't see and they also help you develop a roadmap to get there. Okay, moving on. The next one is going to be like the coach.
You may remember a movie that's called Remember the Titans. And you had two coaches, one of which was Mr. Boone and the other which other one was the assistant coach. Now, the assistant coach in the film is the coach I want to talk about right now. This type of coach is both an inspiring person and as well as the challenging person. They are there to hold you accountable and keep you moving. Okay? It's important to understand that you've got to have these types of people in your life to keep you from getting stuck. Because if we're left to our own devices, unfortunately, what will happen is, is we'll get complacent, we'll start going, moving into apathy. And as we move into apathy, we stop losing or we start to lose momentum. And if we lose momentum, you're actually going to stop moving altogether, which puts you back in the modality of being stuck. Right? So coaches are inspiring, and they're also good at holding you accountable. Right? They're going to take the time to pull you to the side and say, hey, we need to run that play again. And they're also going to take the time when you come off the field to say, way to go. Nice job, man. Way to go. You see what I'm saying? That's what a coach is. Okay, the next one is going to be the empowerer. Right? In the world of faith, some of these people are known as evangelists. In the secular world, we would call them the empowerer. These are people who are giving you messages, who consistently and regularly inspire you to take better action, inspire you to think differently, inspire you to make a better difference. Right. An empowerer is going to give you information and action steps to make an immediate, immediate change. All right, next one is going back to the. Remember the Titans film that I told you about? Coach Boone was known as the driver. There's lots of pictures of him blowing a whistle, going, we're going to change the way we move. We're going to change the way we do this. And Coach Boone would have nothing if you weren't giving your absolute best. He would have. He would have nothing to do with it. Right. You had to be giving your absolute best. A lot of times these people will come across as people who are low empathy, but they're trying to push you to another level. I myself am a driver for a lot of folks. I see potential in people that they oftentimes they don't see in themselves. It's easy for me to see what they could be, even though what they're focused on is what they've always been. Drivers have the ability to get you out of your comfort zone and get you moving towards your destination and teach you and actually get you to the direct, get you towards the goal you're ultimately trying to get to. They don't take no for an answer. They're the people that break down the walls and help you break down your Own walls. Okay, the next one is the educator. Educators are people who are specifically designed to do nothing but teach you information to help make you better in, well, what we like to call the eight pillars of life. Now if you haven't checked out that whiteboard video and you don't know what I'm referring to, make sure you go check out the whiteboard video called the eight Pillars of Life and that will help you understand what I'm talking about. Okay. I'm talking about the different eight areas of life that you got to make movement on. Educators give you the information to make that happen, right? So for example, if it's going to be an education in finance, I might would lean to the Ramsey Solutions team, right? Nobody does it better than Dave and his team, right? They've been doing financial stuff for, gosh, well over 20 years. And because of Dave's past, it comes from a humble, confident place. So you can trust the information, right? It's going to educate you specifically on how to budget, how to save, how to spend, how to give that kind of stuff that is an education based platform, education based person you need in your life. The next one is probably my favorite. This is the one that I had the most difficult time finding until I married my wife Karen, who's amazing. And that's the gatekeeper. As you grow and develop, the people around you are going to want more and more of your time, your energy and your resources. Some of them will be safe, meaning they're going to be great new relationships, great new people that you need to spend time with. Other of them will not be safe. They will be only after you for their own personal advancement or own intentions. That is not a healthy relationship. Okay? The gatekeeper is the person who stands up and says you're safe, you're not, you're safe, you're not. They're the person who's actually telling you on a regular basis, hey, look, I think something's up with that person. I don't think they have your best interest at heart. In fact, I wouldn't literally kind of make that judgment if I were you. My wife has done that so many times and kept me out of trouble. And there's been other times when I didn't listen and got myself in a lot of trouble. Okay? Those are the seven relationships you must have to win at life. Now, I didn't go into great detail on these. I have a free ebook resource that we'll put in the description link so you can actually get to it totally free. It goes into A crazy deep dive to make sure you understand what you need to be doing in picking these people. But before we do that, before you go do that, I want to talk about one more thing. The quote that I opened up the show with or this whiteboard lesson with was, show me your five friends and I'll show you your future. I first heard that by a guy by the name of Keith Kraft who was down in Texas. Okay. I love the quote. I don't know if he's the originator of it or not, but you may notice that there's five friends, five influences, but there's seven relationships you must have. Okay? If you're doing the math, that means you got two other people that you're trying to figure out where they came from. And that's because a lot of these people will be more than one. Okay, Sorry, I couldn't draw quite that far over here, but my gatekeeper, right? Oops, you guys caught me. You busted me. I forgot one. Man, I hate when I do that. So let's talk about. The last one is actually going to be the inner voice. The last one is the inner voice. What you tell yourself, what are you reading? What are your influences? What are you doing with self awareness? That's going to be the last one. Okay. Meanwhile, the gatekeeper and the personal influence of voice. My wife is helping me control my voice. That would count as one. A coach, a lot of times can double as an empower depending on how they're working with your life. There's two.
A driver can also be an empower. There's three. The educator and the gatekeeper can be one. That's four. Do you see what I'm saying? Some of these people are going to have multiple attributes and parts and pieces of your life. That's how you can have five friends and I'll show you your future. And also have seven relationships you must have to win. It's not a matter of how many. It's a matter of the character traits that these people bring to your life and how they actually take the time to add value to your life. Again, great people are here to help you win and not focus on what you can do to lose. Great people are either safe or not safe. And as you develop the seven relationships you must have to win at life, you'll very quickly discover what you need to do next. We'll see you in the next video.
