A short YouTube monologue by Stephen Scoggins arguing that much human behavior is unconscious and 'pre-programmed' by early-life experiences. The speaker claims ~95% of behavior is unconscious, that patterns are set by about age six or seven, and uses everyday-routine examples (toothbrush, mirror, past memories) to urge listeners to consciously choose who they want to be each day.

You see, 95% of human behavior is unconscious. We are literally walking around pre programmed. And people hear that, but they don't really stop and say, what does that mean? And how does that translate? In my life, from the age of six or seven, the entire human brain has already formulated how you're going to think, how you're going to feel, and how you're responding to the majority of things that happen in life. So every time something happens after that age, it's just going to a past memory of how did you respond or react when you felt similarly. And then it's producing more of those chemicals and you constantly feel the same way. And so really simple, you wake up in the morning, your brain immediately starts to scan your room, coffee table, night table, mirror. You pick up the same toothbrush, same toothpaste, same flavor, same environment. The brain says, ah, got it. I now know how I want to feel. I remember how I felt yesterday. Oh, I remember the conversation yesterday that frustrated me, or that situation, or the bank account, or the love or the lack of love or whatever the things are, positive or negative, we're being reminded of who we were. Few people pause and say, hang on a minute, who do I want to be today?
