A speaker warns that the largest mistake when building a business is neglecting personal development. He argues you must build yourself alongside your business because failing to do so leads to poor leadership, inability to attract collaborators, and ultimately business failure.

The biggest mistake by far that I've ever made in building a business was not building myself. First you have to build yourself alongside of building your business. Your business cannot take priority of building yourself. It cannot. You will do what I have done, which is lead people poorly. It puts you in a bad place to be received. And if you can't have people join you alongside of your journey, you are not going to have a business. You will always be you.
