Finding Your “Why”, Creating a Vision Board, Seeing Results | Life-Mastery Q&A

Four prompts help you find your why: what makes you come alive, what you'd do for free, what you yearn for, and the value only you can add. A vision board split into eight life pillars works best when you make it in a relaxed, creative space. Results come down to how hard you commit.

All right, so today's question comes in, and it is, how do I find my why? This took me a little bit. I had to, like, really think about this one. Like, how did I actually get to that place? Because essentially, why and passion are very similar, but I think you can get there from different places. So here are the four things that I took a note of and jotted down and discovering how to find your why. Number one, ask yourself, what makes you come alive? I mean. I mean, like, little alive. I mean, like, really alive, right? Do you light up when you play the piano? Do you light up when you go ice skating? Do you light up when you're painting a picture? Do you light up when you're standing in front of your friends and your family sharing a concept? Okay, what makes you fire on fire? What makes you fully alive? What would you do for free if you could, like, seriously, what would you do anytime, at any place if you could do it for free? What do you yearn for most? In other words, what's that longing? What's that peace that has really kind of gone unfulfilled? Unfulfilled? Did y' all heard my Southern accent just now? Just there. All right, other thing. What is the greatest value you can add to your community and to the world? If you'll answer those four questions, I'm confident that you'll be able to circle in on what your why is, and the next step is to learn how to apply it.
Today's question is, should I create a vision board? And the answer is abso stinking lutely, yes, you should create a vision board. But here are the two things I recommend you do that we do internally here at the Journey Principles. First of all, when we set out to create a vision board, we try to break down the vision board into all eight pillars of life so we can clearly see what our vision is for each of the pillars. The second thing we recommend you do is make sure you go to a quiet place where you can be creative with low stress. In other words, you don't have a lot of burdens on your life at that moment. Take half a day and just simply be. Be present, be proactive, and be creative. Take your pen and your pad and your vision board and the eight pillars, and list out what you want, why you want it, and why it's important to you. If you'll do those things, then a vision board will actually become a tool rather than just something hanging on the wall.
All right, so when changing my life, how long will it take before I actually start to get results. The reality is, that's completely and utterly up to you. Why? Because no one can tell us. For me to tell you what kind of intensity, focus, commitment, decision making, and how much effort you actually want to put into it, it's like anything else. You're going to get exactly what you put into it. When we talk about the seven levels of Life Mastery you can get there in a year or 50 years, it's completely and utterly up to you. So. So the question is not how quickly can I get results. The question is, are you ready to commit and get started?
