How The Law of Attraction REALLY WORKS! (Achieve Anything You Want)

This is a conversational transcript of a YouTube interview with Stephen Scoggins about the Law of Attraction. Scoggins reframes the Law of Attraction as chiefly "faith and focus": setting a clear destination (vision/vision board), repeatedly priming oneself (incantations/rituals) and, crucially, coupling that focus with daily disciplined action and routines. He argues manifesting requires reducing distractions, clarifying the "why," learning from guides/mentors, and converting suffering into growth—illustrated by a personal story of taping vision-notes to his bathroom mirror during financial hardship.

If you're not able to keep your ultimate destination in front of you on a regular basis, it's going to be really hard to remind yourself of why it's so important for you to achieve that end goal, that end result.
Dumb man. What is your take on the Law of Attraction?
My take on the Law of Attraction is it is a real thing, but from my perspective, not in the way people like to perceive it.
What do you mean by that?
Well, there's a lot of folks out there that who don't necessarily. Who don't necessarily share my faith background. Now, as a person of faith, I have just a different way of looking at the world, different lens system. What they see sometimes is the Law of Attraction I see as a level of faith or focus. I feel like the Law of Attraction to me is more about faith and focus than anything else. What I mean by that is you can say incantations to yourself or you can prime yourself and those things do have a place. In some cases. We call this the challenge thought. You have a negative thought come in, you immediately challenge it, rebuke it kind of thing, and then basically claim a truth over top of that. Well, the Law of Attraction is a little bit different because people like to think that, you know, essentially they can will their way into wealth, they can will their way into an amazing relationship, they can will their way into setting the tone for a prosperous or brighter future. My experience has been it's the only place that I can come from is my experience. My experience is the Law of Attraction is only as good as your level of focus. If you are focusing on a positive outcome, you are focusing on taking the steps, you're focusing on developing the relationships, you're focusing on doing the work, you're focusing on the end outcome in mind and working your way backwards, then it becomes possible to manifest.
Not because it just popped up like a genie, but instead because you actually work to bring it into existence. Conversely, if you are not taking a stance on focusing on where you're going or why you're going there, or the different steps on what it's going to take to get there, then you're definitely not going to do it right? So where some would say I can will myself into a better future, I personally believe will is great. Dreams are great, aspirations are great. All that stuff is beautiful, all of it's wonderful. But if it doesn't have something holding it up or backing it up, it's not going to manifest.
That's really powerful. Especially because one of the questions I have Here from the audience is what do people misunderstand about the law of attraction? It sounds like that's one of the things is they think that they can just sit in a dark room, think about a check for a million dollars. Will it in existence believe that it's going to happen? But if you never go out there and do something to produce that check, it's not coming.
Yeah, I would definitely say that's probably the greatest myth. The greatest myth is that you can just simply will something into existence. That has not been my experience. I've had the same dreams and aspirations and things that I wanted to accomplish in my heart, in my mind, for probably decades before I actually received them. Now, my level of focus was directly tied to how quickly those things came into existence or as some would say, manifested into existence in my life. I noticed that the greatest, really, the greatest problem with trying to manifest something or use the law of attraction or what I call faith and focus, to bring something to an existence or to your life at an earlier level comes down to your level of distractions. Are you pursuing distractions or are you pursuing this outcome? Because if you're constantly being distracted, then no amount of willing it to existence or rubbing the lamp, so to speak, to pop a genie out is going to bring that into fruition. What's going to bring it is going to be, I'm focused, I'm committed, I'm taking daily steps. I've got a routine that backfills it that kind of lifts me up, creates me moving forward, and therefore I can expect a more positive result. At the same time, I don't want people to think that you shouldn't dream or you shouldn't think about the life that you want. In fact, my entire career is based on someone actually doing that. Taking the time to dream, create, imagine their future, and things of that nature. Okay? All that does is that gives you a destination. It doesn't actually give you the steps to go from A to B to C to D to E to F. You see what I'm saying?
You're saying, yeah, that part of the process, whether you call it the law of Attraction or whatever, it's just a part of the process.
Yeah, yeah. And again, it comes down to faith and focus on the faith side of things.
Most people that share my faith background are going to say that if I just keep doing this and I keep taking this effort, I keep going after it, I keep the focus, I keep the diligence, I eliminate distractions. That in and of itself is faith in action. Right. That means I'm so hopeful this thing is going to come into fruition that I'm willing to keep going after it. And my experience has been when I follow that protocol, when I follow that set of beliefs or actions or processes, then I typically end up with what I've got. I mean, you know, this. I've been out trying to cut through the noise for probably close to five years. Okay. It just so happens the COVID for some reason, the year that was supposed to take everybody out from under us or take life out from under everybody was the very same year where I started, was able to cut through the noise to begin to help people on a consistent basis. And as a result, one of the things I've realized is people don't want gurus. They want guides. They want people who have been there, done that. And I think part of getting to where you want to go ultimately comes down to your level of faith, your level of focus, your level of diligence, and your willingness to learn from someone who's already been there, you know, which is essentially a guide process. The incantation side of things. Again, it's like priming the pump. But I wouldn't say that that's going to be enough to bring your ultimate vision of reality. You're gonna have to put in the work.
Well, you mentioned earlier, you're gonna have to put in the work, but you're also gonna have to have a routine. I think a lot of people are wondering, like, when they're creating their routine, their daily routine for success. Where does law of attraction, or incantations, as you say, whatever you do, recommend when it comes to law of attraction? How would someone effectively fit that into their routine to help push them forward?
Well, ultimately, the law of attraction is doing nothing more than creating the destination which you're striving for. So, for example, I need to be financially independent. Okay? That's my ultimate goal. I want to attract financial independence. Okay, well, now I've got a destination. That's probably something I didn't have the day before yesterday, the day before that, the day before that. Which, now that I have a destination, now I can ask myself, okay, what do I need to learn? Who do I need to connect with? How do I need to behave and act in order to get that result to. To basically come to fruition? So essentially, you answer one question and you follow it up with a handful of other questions that bring you clarity. And with clarity comes a permanent sense of direction.
So would you build that into your daily routine, like looking at your goals? Is that a part of maybe looking at your outcomes and your vision board and things like that? Picturing yourself as already having accomplished it, feeling the gratitude? These are all things that I've heard associated with Law of Attraction. Is that how to best build that into your routine?
Yeah. So ultimately, like, again, it comes down to faith and focus to me. So if you're not able to keep your ultimate destination in front of you on a regular basis, it's going to be really hard to remind yourself of why it's so important for you to achieve that end goal, that end result, you know, financial independence, or maybe a magnificent marriage. Or maybe you're on the journey of becoming a healthy, like a stronger father, mother, brother, sister, whatever that thing is. Right. Ultimately, the Law of Attraction is nothing more than trying to get yourself and your mindset into the experience of already obtaining that specific result. And that does nothing more than bring internal motivation.
And it sounds like it's going to help with the focus that you're talking about as well, because it sounds like every day you have a decision between focus and distraction. You have to select what you want. And so by starting your day, for example, with the morning routine of looking at your list of goals, looking at your vision board, imagining that you've accomplished it, these are Law of Attraction, typical things that you can do every day that'll set up and prime you for that day to have an easier time choosing that focus.
Yeah, I mean, if you think about it, the people that we've worked with, the lives that we've changed, the people we've helped, have gone on to do wonderful things. One of the things that we teach them is, yes, set your end goal in mind. Dream, aspire, imagine, create a vision for yourself, like, and get super clear. You know, typically we'll have people close their eyes, for example, and then say, okay, what do you see? What kind of sense of the sensations do you have? Do you have wind blowing through your hair? In my case, across your scalp. Right. What are you doing? Like, what are you. What are you sensing? To draft that on a piece of paper. Then we'll go as far as sometimes having to cut imagery out. Right.
Like a vision board.
Like a vision board. Put a vision board in place that gives you the ultimate destination, and then you take it a step further by beginning to say, okay, this is the life that I want. This is an actual example of that. This is the why that I want it. Okay. So a lot of people say, well, I want to be financially independent. Why? Well, because I want to be independent. Why? What do you get out of it? Well, I get a sense of peace. I think I can help more people.
I'd like to not feel the fear of not having enough or living paycheck to paycheck. You've got to get clear on those different motivating factors and then put that in such a way that allows you to put that in front of yourself on a regular basis to then go after it. Most people don't get clear.
So you want to get clear first and then put that vision in front of you at all times. That reminded me of something you told me once about your bathroom when you were first grinding and trying to become successful and rarely come from nothing and build this, what you have now. Can you share a little bit about what you did with the bathroom? And I think you said you had sticky notes or something like that.
Yeah, I mean, so at my lowest moment, I was forced to rent out my own mobile home that I had bought. Now, keep in mind, I'm like 19 at the time. I bought a single wide mobile home thinking, okay, I'm already ahead of the curve with the family that I've grown up with. Like, I'm already ahead. Lo and behold, some stupid financial decisions later. I end up being basically evicted from my own home without actually having to pay the mortgage. So essentially, my brother came to live with me, and as a result, I moved into the spare bedroom that was less than 10 by 10. Like it was a tin. It was the tiniest bedroom in the trailer. Okay. And as I kind of went through that and I kind of went through some other stories, some litter box moments and my bridge moments, some other things that we don't have time to get into today. I ended up back in that very same room asking myself, is this all there is?
Well, the question came back and the answer came back, well, no, this isn't all there is. Okay, so what's different? What do I need to know? What do I not know? Where can I get the information from? What do I need to do or be or massage to become a better version of myself? And as I began doing that, I began jotting notes down on little scratch pieces of paper everywhere I could find it. And then I said, you know what? What's my ultimate vision? What is it that I want? Well, at that time, I wanted to be financially stable. Well, how do I illustrate being financially stable? Okay, well, It's a small 1,200 square foot house. Cut that joker out. Okay? It's having a bank account Full rather than being negative. $2.12. It was crossed out and put. $100,000.
I wanted to give myself living illustrations about what my ultimate vision for my life in that moment would be. Now, granted, my life is vastly different than it was 20 years ago. So my vision board. Or you will. My vision board, if you will, or my idea of what a future looks like is different now than it was. And I've got. My illustrations are different.
Well, I mean. And you far exceeded those things that you were just saying.
But can you imagine, like, most people never take the first step to go.
That far to, like, create a plan.
To just take the time to dream and aspire and. And create a clear vision of what they ultimately want. Most people are going through life right now, sleepwalking through life. They wake up, they don't know why they're doing what they're doing, why it even matters. And they go through the motions day in and day out. They come home, watch a little more tv, eat some dinner, head off to sleep. Maybe they get on the video games, maybe they. Whatever, Right? But it's a distractionary life model. What we refer to oftentimes is the traditional lifestyle. Okay? What should be occurring is they should be focusing. Which is one of the reasons why that transformational piece that we do during live events is so powerful to people, is because what they should be doing more than anything else is dreaming.
When I was sitting in that bedroom doing the sticky notes and doing all the different paper cutouts and stuff like that, I took every last bit of that and I went and taped it to the bathroom mirror. Why did I do that? Well. Well, the average person goes to the bathroom six times a day. Morning, noon, night, whatever. Okay? Now, I was gainfully unemployed when I did all this work, which means every time that I went to the restroom, I was forced to look at my sticky notes. I was forced to realize where I was. But more importantly, I was also meant to face where I wanted to go.
What did that feel like? Like the disparity of being where you were now, Struggling and looking at every day where you wanted to be. Because we talk about comparison. Like, was that something that fired you up? Was it something that sometimes made you, like, if you had a bad day, you beating yourself up, what was that dynamic like?
You know, I had to step into that so early on. It was before I went through the process of trying to clarify my vision. Stuff like that. I would, in fact, beat myself up anytime that I made a mistake. Right. Blame, shame, and condemnation were the three Words that kind of like circled me every day.
When I went and created the sticky note process or tape, the things on the. On the mirror and stuff like that, and I was forced to look at on a regular basis. It provided me just enough uncomfortability to want to change it.
Okay.
But not enough to beat me senseless.
So that was still there, but it gave you the hope because you were also seeing your life right in front of you.
Well, I was seeing. I was seeing. I could, you know, I got to the place where I could do it inside my brain for the most part. But when you look at, you know, I had a. In fact, I had. One of the things that I had on the mirror that I haven't shared this publicly a lot was actually my father. So my father, like I said, worked as hard as he possibly could. We had a really tough time financially, like in my high school years, and he worked literally as hard as he possibly could. And we still couldn't make ends meet. Okay. So it wasn't lack of dedication. As a result, one of the things that happened was is we. The vehicles that he had, you know, from the family all got repossessed along with the foreclosure of a house. And so pretty much it was just a nasty situation.
One of the things that I cut out was actually out of a magazine. It was a picture of a. I want to say it was a 2001 white Chevy extended cab Z71 pickup truck.
And I cut it out. But rather than put that on my mirror this time, because we didn't have a family car, because I'd watched my dad work his ass off and sacrifice as much as he could, I cut that off and I took a Sharpie pencil and I put somehow, someday, someway.
And that, coincidentally, was the Christmas that I couldn't afford to give anybody presents. So that was his present, was a picture with an autograph on it that says somehow, someday, somewhere. And I gave that to him, an envelope. That was the year that I drew a picture from my grandfather. Hand drew a picture of his, you know, his. His and my greatest mentor, Jesus. Right. I gave my mother essentially a card, the handwritten card.
Oftentimes we think we're not able to give anything when people. What they want most is for us to give them our attention. What I was saying in that moment was I was making a promise to myself that somehow, someday, some way, things were going to change to the point where I was going to be able to buy my dad that truck. The question is, did I ever Buy my dad that truck. Yeah, I would love to say yes. I actually did not. I actually bought him three variations of trucks.
Okay, well, that's. I'd still be satisfied.
Yeah, no, I helped him, you know, before I learned about the power of why you shouldn't co sign for people. Now, he didn't have to put me through this thing, but I recommend you don't co sign for people, just in general. But I cosigned for one or two of his trucks, and then I helped him buy a couple others.
Awesome, right?
But again.
My strength behind my why.
Had to be more powerful than my fear of moving forward. And that's what those things keep in mind. So some would call that the law of attraction. Because I visualize something, I'm working towards obtaining it. I call it work.
I call it not waiting. I call it realizing I was just having a conversation, a coaching call with a young lady that's part of our Transfer Me online group. And in doing so, it was really special because she's done so much work, she's come so far, and just simply reminding her that she was a good daughter was just made her day, said, you're a good daughter. You know what I'm saying?
Sometimes the greatest, most meaningful moments in your life are not things, they're experiences. But you have to put yourself in a place to experience the things that you desire most. And if you're not facing who you are, you're not digging into who you are, you're not figuring out what your strengths, your struggles, and your blind spots are. If you're not taking the time to do that, then you're definitely not doing the law of attraction. You're definitely not using anything or any technique whatsoever to identify what it is you ultimately want.
One of the reasons that the law of attraction has been so powerful for certain other people is because it created a destination.
But what do you do once you set the destination? You still have to get in the car, close the door, start the car up, put the foot on the gas pedal and make the right, make the right. Left hand turns, hit on the highway. There's still work to be done.
Yeah. It's almost like the law of attraction is priming your mindset.
It really is. It really is. Yeah. I mean, the greatest myth about the law of attraction is that it's a one and done shop. It's not a one and done.
Right.
To me, it does nothing more than set the destination.
Yeah, that's really good. And so as far as routine, you want to be checking in with that destination every day. That's kind of how to answer that question. So as far as mindset, just to wrap this all up, because you've talked a lot more about mindset than the words law of attraction, you just said they're pretty close to the same thing.
Yeah.
So how important is mindset to success?
Well, at the end of the day, the greatest struggle you're ever going to have is your own mind. Defeating your limiting beliefs, overcoming your doubts, forgiving yourself for your mistakes, working towards your future. All of that happens in the head. In fact, nothing happens with your hands until it first happens with your head. Nothing happens first in your heart until it first happens in your head. You have to believe that you're worth the effort. You have to believe that your future is brighter than your past. You have to believe those types of things. And yes, it takes faith to believe those types of things. But ultimately, at the end of the day, if you're going to have the ultimate version of your life, whatever, and you know what's in your heart, you know what that ultimate moment is, you're going to have to do like every other hero in every other journey. Right? You got it. You have to go off into the unknown. Right. You got to step off Luke Skywalker hopping on a starship and leaving a planet for the first time.
Going to find Yoda.
You got to go find your mentor or mentors. You've got to go find the information. Going to change that mindset on your behalf.
Yeah. Tom Bilyeu says, ideas in equals ideas out. I love that so much because there's a lot of people that are like, oh, I don't know what to do. Study some stuff.
Yeah. Start listening to people. Some people don't even, they're like, I don't even know. I don't even know what I really want. Well, start there.
Start dreaming.
Yeah. Start dreaming again. You know, it's funny, when you're a kid, everything is possible. Like you can literally. I want to be a Care Bear. And you know, when you're a four year old self, you're like, I can be a Care Bear.
You're so right. Kids are natural dreamers.
Yeah.
Why do you think that's so easy? Just a final thing to.
Yeah. I don't think it's. I don't know if it's easy. They just haven't had the experiences of either other people telling them it's not worth it or they're not worth it. Yeah. Experience tends to drive out hope. Okay. Especially negative experiences. So it's important to understand that the experiences you have have to be filtered the right way. I personally believe I can tell you. Right. In fact, I'll tell you right now.
My ultimate transformation, where I'm at right now, the life that I'm living. When I was going through my greatest moment of suffering on a regular basis, not having money, not having a car, even contemplating suicide, all of that stuff. When I was going through all of that, I didn't have a firm grasp, the way I do now, on how important those things were in my life to shape me into who I am. Without those pieces, without those different suffering attributes, I would not have the empathy and, or the sympathy and, or the character and, or the strength, the knowledge, the wisdom. Everything that came out of those experiences now become the very teaching tools that I use to help people. Which is why you're suffering. Your adversity, all that stuff is going to build you far more than it's going to steal from you. The question is, are you willing to just say, hey, look, this is a building block for me, or are you saying, this is always going to be this way?
And when it comes down to the law of Attraction, people who are hopeless have a hard time believing anything is possible. Which is, to me, why you have to start with the dream and then clarify the dream, determine why you want the dream, and then set a course out to go get it. And you'll end up a Jedi, I guess.
That's amazing, dude. That is the best way of putting the law of attraction that I personally have ever heard. So love it.
Hey, guys, if you love that video, I would do me a favor. You're probably going to love this one right here. Check it out. If you want to reprogram your mind, start programming it. Start programming it. Meaning you don't let stuff come into you. You choose what comes into you.
