YouTube monologue by Stephen Scoggins about surrender and letting go. The speaker reframes surrender not as quitting but as stopping defense—trusting, having faith, and embracing vulnerability and courage. Key claim: truth requires no defense; surrender is allowing oneself to be moved by something greater than the ego.

What happens if you live your life like it's a battle you are in real trouble because things are going to seem like threats. Things are going to be life or death situations with everything. And so I think a lot of us have very simplistic notions of even the word letting go and surrendering. And if you look at the other definitions it's a stopping the fight, it's a stopping the defense. The truth requires no defense. And so if you're defending yourself or something it's not true. Either the defending isn't true or what you're defending isn't true. And that invitation to surrender requires trust. It requires faith, requires vulnerability, it requires all of the courage. It requires such tremendous virtues. And if you see it that way, oh this is different. It's not like I'm giving up. It's not like I'm quitting. I'm stopping the defending. I'm allowing myself to be moved by something greater than my ego.
