Overcoming Anxiety | Understanding and Perspective

Stephen Scoggins explains how anxiety stems from trying to control what you can't control, and how negative patterns get passed down unless you change your thinking and actions. He argues faith-based principles guide the healing.

Hi, I'm Steven Scoggins and I welcome you back to the Journey Principles. As always, we have two simple goals. One, we want to empower your mind. And. And two, we want to motivate your heart. And here at the Journey Principles, that's exactly what we set out to do today. I want to talk a little bit about internal conflict. How can personal change affect a family tree? What can we learn about our life's influences? You see, anxiety stems from a desire to manage an outcome we cannot control. We must focus on our internal well being long before seeking to control an external outcome. Why is it that a mother who suffers from anxiety and depression has a daughter who lives life in fear? Science would argue that these are learned behaviors. But the Bible is clear on how influences can be passed down through the generations. Changing a family tree requires working on ourselves first. Changing our thinking, our understanding and our actions to change. We must acknowledge our struggles in such a constructive way and a constructive light. Then we really must want to change the influences that control the outcomes. Managing personal change is another form of conflict. We must welcome this inner conflict before we can actually grow. We need it. We need to be open to creating a new path and exploring a new future. Why? Because if we don't change these negative influences, we'll pass them down through the next generation. And as parents, don't we all want our children to have more and be more and achieve more than we ever thought possible? That is so important. Our actions and behaviors are being watched all the time. Whether we're at home or at work or out with friends. We can create a new life and a new accountability with responsibility for our future. You see, when we follow God's principles, they give us strength and wisdom and faith to act in integrity. These principles are used to encourage our each step forward with faith toward managing the personal change. Let's move forward towards personal healing. Towards a brighter future for everyone involved. I'm Stephen Scoggins. Encourage you to heal, grow and go. God bless you and we'll see you on the next journey. Principal.
