You know, nothing's more humbling than actually having to shower or bathe in an actual, like public restroom because you haven't had a place to stay for a long, long time. And because, well, if you don't do that, then you can't even get the basic of basic jobs. Well, that was part of my journey.
Now you don't have to fall that far yourself, obviously, to kind of wake up, so to speak, and actually understand that your mind actually has something to do with your overall level of success. And you don't have to do that overall to understand that you have to reprogram your mind on a regular basis if you actually hope to achieve something greater than you've known today. Which is one of the reasons why I want to focus on the next couple things with you specifically to help you better understand how to better reprogram your mind on a regular basis. Because the reality is you're going to have to do it over and over and over and over again until it becomes so much a part of your physical habit that it becomes automatic to you. Your mind is going to be challenged by self doubt, it's going to be challenged by relationships, it's going to be challenged by experiences and events. But ultimately the decision is yours and whether or not you choose to believe what you choose to believe. And that's why reprogramming your mind is incredibly important. Because had I not learned to reprogram my mind, I would not be sitting here talking to you right now. Instead, I would probably be under an overpass trying to make ends meet all over again, probably rooting through the trash. None of that stuff is anything that anybody wants to live. Nobody wants to live that way. So no matter whether or not your adversity is as bad as mine was, or worse or not quite as bad, it doesn't matter. If you are going to achieve anything and everything in your life that you really, really want, your mind has something to do with it. So let's go ahead and jump into a few things. Now, the first thing I want you to understand about reprogramming your mind is this. What you say to yourself becomes what you make of yourself. If you decide to believe that you are a failure and you tell yourself you're a failure on a regular basis, guess what? You are going to experience a consistent level of failure because you're focused on it and you're looking for it. You've got to understand that everything that you think from the time that you wake up until the time you go to bed, basically Sets your next day up for whether or not you're going to achieve success or slide further back into obscurity. The reality is you've got to learn to influence your own behaviors. One of the things that I used to do, specifically, in fact, I actually did it in that public restroom in that mirror. I very simply said this. It's not always going to be this way. That was my very first one. Wasn't necessarily an I am statement or an affirmation statement, but it was something to actually get me going. And you've got to do that for yourself. You've got to determine what you need to hear, that you wish someone else would speak over you and speak it over yourself. And if you really want to take it to the next level, you do so while staring at yourself in a mirror. I am wonderful. I am smart. I am intelligent. I have passion, I have purpose. I have meaning, significance, authenticity. All of those types of things are things that you have to influence yourself with. Because until you learn how to influence yourself, you will never understand how you are actually influenced. Because everything that comes out of you started off inside of you. What are you doing on a regular basis to change the way in which you talk to yourself? Next up, your eyes and your ears are the gateways to your mind. Most people underestimate. I know I did. The power of the things that you look at, the power of the things that you hear, the types of movies you watch, times of music you listen to, the type of social media you look, at, the type of news you look at, all of that influences the mind. Why? Because you are actually programming yourself on a regular basis by the programming data that you are letting go in your brain. So if you are someone who finds yourself easily anxiety ridden or angry, and there's a high likelihood that a lot of the things that you were watching and listening to also put off that same emotional space. Seriously, look at it, look at, take a hard look at it. You remember the jingles back in the day? I mean, there's thousands of them. Everything from cars to, gosh, I don't know, Rolexes and so on and so forth. Well, one of the favorites used to be the old Kit Kat commercial. Give me a break, give me a break. I gotta get me some of that. Yeah, you probably just finished the sentence. That's the power of the eyes and the ears and the gateway to your mind. The types of things that you allow in your mind also come out of your actions. So if you find yourself in a spirit of lust or something like that, On a regular basis, you are probably looking at things that are probably showcasing things to lust at. If you were looking at different ways to spend money on a regular basis, and always all you look at is expensive cars and expensive houses and stuff like that, you're going to find yourself actually wanting to achieve all those things and not properly feeling fulfilled. That's what I mean by the eyes and the ears are the gateway to the mind. One of the best ways to reprogram your mind and to actually get massive action and momentum right now is to totally overhaul what you are allowing yourself to look at and what you're allowing yourself to listen to. When you do that, you will automatically start to feel a different type of an emotional connection. And as a result, you will either move forward or you'll fall back. But the choice is yours. So make sure you're paying closer attention to what your eyes and your ears are actually doing. Before we jump into the next one, do me a favor, go ahead and hit the like and subscribe button and smash that bell to make sure you never miss out on a single video that can help you move forward. All right, let's jump back into it now. The third thing I want you to consider is this. You've got to grow your knowledge base to conquer your blind spots. So much of me moving from homelessness to where I'm at today had to do with overcoming certain behavior patterns for myself, how I communicated my defense mechanisms, and even how I actually saw the world in its entirety. I have discovered that there is a way to look at things from a poverty mindset, and there's a way to look at things from a wealth mindset. And true life actually happens somewhere in the middle, where you have balance, where you don't let things own you, but you're also able to enjoy the things around you. In order to get there, you constantly have to be challenging your mind on a regular basis by understanding the types of things that hold you back. When I was homeless, what was holding me back was the mindset of what I thought was possible. As I grew my first company, my mindset had to change again. Going from a tactical mindset, meaning I have to do the drive the hammer and the nail on a regular basis to a strategical mindset, which is I need a certain amount of customers with a certain amount of diversity in a certain kind of way, generating a certain amount of revenue. That is a way to actually increase your overall knowledge base and help you conquer your blind spots. Now, going back to the last one I just mentioned, that means maybe reading something different or listening to something different, or watching something different to help you grow your overall knowledge base. When you do this, you are basically taking all the crap that you've been believing all this time, and you're overriding it and replacing it with great content that actually helps you move forward. And at the end of the day, that is the best way to actually get traction. So if you want to reprogram your mind, the easiest way to reprogram your mind is this. Read something new, watch something new, and be careful about what you're using. When you do that, you can understand what it takes to overcome a specific struggle or blind spot and actually move forward. All right, the fourth thing I want you to consider is this. Those that rest become strong. One of the things I totally underestimated, and one of the things I see people underestimating all the time, is this. People are simply not getting enough rest. They get up at maybe 5, 6, 7am they go through their entire day, and then they stay in front of the TV or a video game machine or something like that into the wee hours of the morning and then wake up tired. Your brain is not designed to function without sleep. That's why the military, when they actually train special forces, puts the military specifically into sleep deprivation mode as a way to build the brain chemistry itself to help overcome that thing. You are not supposed to function without rest. And if you don't get enough rest and you spend all your time doing all these little digital things with all this blue light, inevitably what you're doing is you're short circuiting your own brain, which means when you need that processing power, the next day, it's not there. Instead, you find yourself foggy and tired, kind of restless. Those that rest become strong. Your brain has to be able to process things in such a way that allows you to actually make progress on a regular basis. And if you can't think and you find yourself getting irritated easily, you're going to have a problem with your overall processing speed, which is why you got to make sure that you are actively engaging in rest. Make sure you get seven, eight hours minimum. There's always time to kind of have like a downplay time or kind of a rest time on the weekends or something like that. There's nothing wrong with checking out temporarily as long as it's more or less scheduled. You know, I get up at 5:36am every day, and I'm in bed by 10 almost every day. That's my ratio. That's my particular window. It doesn't mean I don't hang out with my beautiful wife and hang out and do fun things with her. But I have a ritual, my ritual, my routine is to get up at 5:30 or 6:00am, hit the gym, get my day started, feed my mind, feed my body, feed my spirit, go through my day, be highly productive, be incredibly diligent, and then get to the end of my day, spend some time with my family, and then head off to bed around 10. Now you may think that's a little more routine. Some of the best ways to actually make progress are building routines. But you can't build a routine with a strong brain if you're not getting the rest that it needs. You got to feed it right and, and you gotta rest it right. So you've gotta make sure you do that. Now if you enjoyed that video, do me a favor, check this one out right here because I know it's gonna help you a lot. You see, pain, when utilized properly, does nothing more than actually teach us progress based behaviors. We know what we don't want to have happen again and therefore it gives us a lesson on how we can use that same information to move us towards where we need to be.
