How do I actually identify the areas I'm struggling most in? It's a very interesting question in that it's actually one that's super easy to solve. All right, we have something called the eight pillars of life. It's eight specific areas that you need constant vigilance and focus on in order to actually win with your life. Okay? If you're so heavily focused on financial matters, chances are you're going to have bad relationships because there's no focus. Okay? So what I want you to do is I want you to go ahead and watch our whiteboard lesson on the eight pillars of life to get super clear on what the eight pillars of life are. All right? Once you do that, once you've identified all eight pillars, list the eight pillars and do nothing more than ask this question. How successful or fulfilling am I in this area right now? On a scale of 1 to 10, one being I really am not making any progress. I don't feel like I'm going nowhere. Like, I'm totally stuck in this area to 10. Dude, I am amazing at this area. Everybody should be learning from me. Maybe not quite so prideful, but you get the point. When you do that, it'll very clearly define the areas that you need the most help in right now, today, because all you have to do is go to your lowest score first, pick the top three, come back here, get more content, stick around for the journey principles, and we will make sure that we'll give you steps to help you in all of those.
What do I do if I just graduated college, but I have no clear sense of direction? The question I would have for you is, if you have no clear sense of direction, what did you go to college for? Right. I didn't actually go to college, so it's really hard for me to tell you that specifically. What I do know is the important piece is to be authentic to you. What are the top five things? Go ahead and get out a pencil and paper. List the top five things that you're totally passionate about, and you can use anything. I'm passionate about movies. I'm passionate about music. I'm passionate about friends. I'm passionate about finance. I'm passionate about accounting. I'm passionate about painting pictures. I'm passionate about being on a podcast, whatever that thing is. List it down. Okay, the next thing I want you to do is I want you to take five other areas. So another 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. And list out five things that you would do for free today if money was no object. Take a hard look at that list. Okay. Consider writing down some of the strengths that you know you have, some of the yearnings that you know you have. Not really what you want from life, but ways in which you think you can add the greatest value in life. Okay? And then what I advise you to do is to take a pen and pad, grab a highlighter, and try to connect the dots. I once had a young man that I was working with who asked me a very similar question. And we discovered by this same simple process that he was passionate about people. He was passionate about housing, and he was passionate about sales. Well, guess what? Even though he went to college on a business degree, really, really wanted to do was to get into real estate and help people buy homes, help people get their. Their house that they've always wanted, their dream home, if you will. Or help people who once thought they couldn't get a house actually get a house. So much of who you are and what you're meant to do and where you're going to go with your life is already hidden inside of you. And sometimes the greatest thing you can do is answer a couple of questions in your own spirit or in your own self, right? So list the first five things you're passionate for, yearnings, if you will, five things you would do for free today if you. If you could, if money was no object, and answer what's right, what's missing, and what's confusing. Then simply grab a highlighter, see if you can connect the dots. And if that doesn't do it for you, go ahead and connect with us at questionsjourneyprinciples.com and we'll take you through a process to discover that for yourself.
All right, how do I overcome my past? I know this is going to sound super simplistic, but you got to stop living there. You can't live in your past. You've got to forgive yourself and move forward. You need to look at your past as a building block for your future. I've made thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of mistakes. But every single one of those mistakes taught me a lesson that I could use to build my future from. And it also had something that I had to completely just forgive myself for. I just had to completely let go. Me beating myself up on a regular basis was never, ever going to help me win. Instead, all it was going to do is keep me stuck. And let's face it, you don't want to be stuck. I don't want you stuck. My team doesn't want you stuck. We want you winning. So Leave your past in the past. Focus on your future. What you focus on, you feel you want to feel optimistic and passionate and driven and motivated and alive. Focus on where you're going. Don't let where you've been disrupt where you're going. Steve Myrick told me a long time ago. He said it's important to know where you've been because you have some lessons there. He said, but it's more important to be focused on where you're going because that's where your impact is made. You will not have a single brick that you've used for failure, so to speak, that you've used to break the glass walls of your heart. They cannot be used to lay a foundation for your future.
I believe that if you'll focus on your future just as I did, you'll start winning and you'll start winning big. You will, you will. And you can go from stuck to unstoppable in a whole lot more, whole lot less time than you possibly think imaginable. So leave your past in your past. Focus on where you're going. Let us help you get there, and we'll see in the next question.
How do I stay optimistic when I feel like I'm failing all the time, or my results say I'm failing all the time?
This one's very interesting in that this is something I used to struggle with on a regular basis. As someone who started out my journey of as feeling unloved, unworthy, and completely lost with my life in a radical wreck in every single area, this is something that I had to overcome very quickly. The secret to making sure that your failure doesn't trump where you're going is to make sure that you know as long as you're learning, you're winning, there is no such thing as failure. You see, I thought that if I didn't get it right the first time or the second time or the third time, then I myself was the problem. I was the failure. Like I've told you guys before, when it comes to life mastery and life skills, how can you be mad at yourself when no one's ever actually taken the time to teach you how to win and how to win at money, how to win at relationships, how to win in your emotional life, if you don't know how to win, you don't have a proven process. How can you possibly be mad at yourself for doing that?
There's no reason to look at failure as the end. Failure offers nothing more than lessons learned as long as you are constantly learning the lessons and Constantly leaning into perseverance. Every single failure will lead towards your freedom and a lot of it. If I had stayed the homeless kid, stuck in a car, sleeping in a car, and never taken the chance to develop my mind, my body and my soul on a regular basis, can you imagine the impact that would not have been made? Now's not the time to give up. Now's not the time to throw in the towel. You need to keep fighting.
There are thousands of lives waiting for you to win. Waiting for you to discover who you are, why you're here, and what to do about it. And we've got the processes to help you get there. So failure is not the problem. How you're looking at failure is the problem. Don't focus on what has happened that's causing you to slow down. Instead, focus on what you can learn and and how you can use it to leverage your future and start winning.
