This short YouTube motivational clip by Stephen Scoggins advises practicing a brief, intentional pause before entering meetings, phone calls, or home to be present and reset. The speaker links this habit to improved interpersonal perception and mental health, and warns that social media (seeking reels) can replace authentic lived experience ("REEL" overtaking "REAL").

The power of the pause. When you're about to take another phone call or go into a meeting, pause for a second, take a deep breath, and then walk into that next meeting saying, how do I want to show up? Or you're going to take the next phone call. Before you take it, let go of the phone call you were just on, pause and say, how do I want to show up for this call? Or when you're done with work and you're going to walk into your house, let go of what just happened and walk into the house and be present. This is powerful because people feel when you just took that last meeting or that last call into theirs, they feel it and they're like, hello, you're not even here. You're literally in that meeting or you're in the next meeting. And then, why do we have a mental health challenge? Because no one feels seen and heard. Why do insecurities come up? Because the person doesn't even see them in front of you. I just spoke to a university and I said, you know, everyone wants to put their reels up on Instagram. I said, the thing is, you're. You're living life, waiting to capture the next reel, that you're not even living a real life. So I was like, R E E L ends up taking over R E A L.
