Steve D Valentine delivers a short YouTube monologue advising that coaches and influencers should share guidance based on their current, real-time experiences rather than relying solely on past successes. He uses examples from real estate influencers, coaching, and rehabilitation to argue people need multiple, contextually-relevant advisors whose present lives align with the issues they’re advising on (e.g., parenting stage, addiction recovery).

Sometimes I feel like I don't have a lot to say. Like, it's important. And then I was thinking about some of the real estate influencers that we all follow and things like that, especially in the flipping investment side. And what I realize is, like, a lot of these mentors and guys selling coaches, like, all their shit shot from studio. I'm like, are you being coached by somebody through their past experiences or their current experiences? And I feel like that's one of the reasons, you know, when I do share stuff, it's the real experiences that are happening now, not 10 years ago. And I think that that's important, that we're learning from that and that the people that we are and people that are influencing, you know, what. What engagement do they have in that area of life right now? And so there's always the one question in rehab, well, when you get out, you know, who do you surround yourself in this, that and the other? And I always tell them, like, there's not one person. I said, there's multiple people that need to be in your corner because you don't want to go get wisdom from somebody that doesn't have any kids on how to handle your kids and your alcohol problem, Right? And sometimes it's like, I have better advice with teenagers, right? I don't know what it looks like with little kids. When you were going through it, I didn't experience it. So it's thinking about, what are you doing and do you need in your corner when you start to see that piece?
