A brief conversational clip from a YouTube video by Steve D Valentine in which he and another speaker critique common measures of success in real estate—commission, transaction count, and gross commission income—arguing these metrics mainly feed active income and ego and culminate in superficial yearly trophies rather than defining real value.
There's also typically in normal training, there's only one way to do real estate. You're representing buyers and sellers or you're doing leases or whatever that case may be. Nobody goes into the what are the effects of owning representing solving problems in the business and take the pieces. Right. Everybody's attached to the commission, the transaction count and the gross commission income.
Right.
Those are our three things that we are measured by. This is what your success is.
Yeah. Isn't that sad boiled down to three things?
Three things don't.
Actually define actual value.
And by the way, those three things, they get you a really cool plastic acrylic trophy at the end of every year because I have a whole slew of them from my past brokerages. Right? What? None of this does all these things equate to your active income and your ego. Right. That's what it is.
