A short YouTube clip by Steve D Valentine in which he warns viewers about hiring discount real-estate agents without interviewing them. Using an anecdote about a friend named Susie who offers to sell homes for 1%, he argues that low commission alone doesn't indicate competence (mentions lack of experience during COVID) and urges prospective sellers to interview multiple agents and ask if commission is negotiable.

Oh, well, my friend Susie sells real estate and she has a license and she's gonna do it for 1%. That's the only thing they tell you. You know what they didn't ask how long Susie been in the market? Oh, she never sold a house during COVID She doesn't know shit. Sorry, Susie, whoever you are. This is what happens. And then they come back and they're pissed off because their transaction wasn't any good. It was your fault, dumbass. You didn't interview the person that you gave responsibility to to sell or represent you in the biggest transaction in your life. I'm sorry. If you chose somebody at a discount to do that, that's what you get. But nobody in that court case went back and said, hey, how many agents did you interview before you signed that commission? Because if you would interviewed agents and said, hey, by the way, is your commission negotiable? I bet you all of them would have told you it is.
