A writer breaks down why showing instead of telling is non-negotiable. You need to convey emotions and events through actions and sensory details, not by stating them outright. Without this skill, you're not ready to write.

So this is probably going to piss a lot of you off, but I'm telling you, it's 100% true. If you don't know how to show instead of tell, you're not a writer yet. You need to be able to show the reader what is happening, what a camera with a microphone could pick up, so they know exactly what you mean without you just telling them on the page. Don't tell me someone is mad or sad. Show me someone who is mad or sad and let me, the reader, figure it out on my own. Don't tell me a marriage or a friendship is over. Show me 2 people acting in a way where I realize on my own what happened. If you can't do this yet, you're not a writer yet. You don't have the skills. However, if you want to develop those skills, make sure you like and subscribe for more.
