A brief spoken piece by Christina Hall advising business owners who resist necessary changes—particularly rebranding—because of fear. Using a client example (25-year-old logo), she argues that clinging to outdated branding out of fear of losing recognition can prevent attracting new clients, and that existing clients are unlikely to leave if the client experience remains strong.

Something I noticed a lot of business owners who have been in business for like five to 10 years, I'm noticing they're really afraid of something which is actually the thing holding them back from taking the next step in their business. But because of their fear about this thing, they won't take any action. It's like this cyclical loop where like the thing that they won't change because they're scared of changing, it is the thing they need to change in order to get the change that they want in their business. I had a client like this who had a like 25 year brand, had never redesigned their logo, and it was evident at the time that the original brand was created. It was probably great for the time that it was created, but over 25 years a lot changes and things like that can start to look really outdated and tacky, even if during the time that it was originally created, it looked very timeless. The client's main concern was losing brand recognition, but the problem was they were trying to attract new clients. How they had convinced themselves for whatever reason, that if they changed their branding that their existing clients would leave, even though they had a client experience that made their existing clients.
