Watch This if You Hate Feeling Disconnected

In this video, Tameka Anderson (Fun Coach Tameka) opens by expressing anger about the political and religious climate in the United States, arguing that avoiding discussions of politics and religion deepens personal disconnection. She links her anger to underlying emotions—sadness, hurt, exhaustion, anxiety, and disappointment—especially regarding the 2020 election and the rise of Christian nationalism. Anderson critiques Christian nationalism using clips from the documentary Bad Faith, highlighting how it conflates Christianity with a white, supremacist political agenda and how it distorts Jesus’ teachings about love for God, self, and neighbor. She defines trauma broadly, extending it beyond personal abuse to systemic forces such as racism, white supremacy, war, and school shootings, asserting that most Americans have experienced some form of trauma. Anderson then outlines four symptoms of being disconnected from oneself—depression, anxiety, resentment, and envy—illustrating each with personal anecdotes. To counter disconnection, she proposes a simple reconnection practice: quieting the mind and using one’s God‑given gift (for her, writing) to express thoughts, encouraging viewers to journal and create content. The video concludes with a call to like, share, subscribe, and a promotion of her healing journals.

I am angry. You may be disconnected from yourself. Sound like I said, I Dollar Tree. PTSD. Hey y'all, Fun Coach Tameka here. So today I want to talk about 2 things that most people say we shouldn't talk about: politics and religion. I believe not talking about these things disconnects us from ourselves even further because they're such an important part of our lives. And if I can't show up fully as myself with people that I know, how can I be connected to myself? I am angry, and I know anger is a surface emotion. Emotion, kind of a protector, if you will. I always say that anger is sadness' bodyguard. So after taking a long, hard look, as I lifted up the lid of my anger, the emotions that I felt were hurt, exhausted, anxious, worried, and utterly disappointed. No wonder anger shields us from this. Those are a lot of emotions, and those were just a few of the ones that I mentioned. I'm disappointed with the results of the election because it shows. How disconnected the majority of us, US, is. Now, I'm not a member of the LGBTQ community. I'm way past the childbearing years and I am Christian. However, I did not vote for Trump. He says he's a Christian. However, he does not represent Christ. That's literally in the name. As a Christian, you are a disciple and a representation of Christ. You cannot be a representative of Christ and vehemently be against him. Christ was, is, and always will be about people. All people. When people came to Jesus and asked him, what's the great— the greatest commandment? What did Jesus say? I'm gonna tell you what he didn't say. He didn't say, you know, I need you to prevent people from having an abortion, or we're going to condemn to hell anyone in a same-sex relationship. So what did he say? Matthew 22:37-39 says, Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, All thy soul and all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment, and the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love the neighbor as thyself. This goes to show Jesus modeled that the most important commandment—if you can't do nothing else—the most important is to love God, love yourself, and love others in that order. So relationships is the most important thing to God. Period. I understand why so many people despise the Christian faith, and I agree with them because most Christians do not represent. Jesus well. I believe it's because most do not know Jesus. They do not have an intimate relationship with him. Jesus sat with the people that the Christian nationalists are trying to get rid of. How dare you think that you're superior to Jesus? Jesus was the only one who walked the face of this earth who had, who even had the credentials, if you will, to think of himself superior. And even he did not. Jesus washed feet. He spoke lovingly to, he sat with, he fed, he did things for people. He loved people well. And this is something that anyone who claims to be a Christian should aspire to do. Now, I watched this documentary called Bad Faith. Just check it out real quick. I'm just going to show you just a little bit of the trailer.
Make no mistake about it. We are talking about Christianizing America. We are talking about spreading the gospel in a political context.
We should not be taking orders by the government. The government needs to be looking at the church and saying, how do we do this effectively?
Christian nationalism, it has nothing to do with Christianity. It's man saying this is God's law and administering it for the purposes of achieving absolute political power. And the societies that practice it are the most evil places on earth.
Those who want to take religion and use it to justify all kinds of evils.
The big idea of Christian nationalism is that God made America for a particular kind of white Christian. That group is supreme in this nation. Everyone else needs to be kept subordinate with violence if necessary.
So yeah, now in watching Bad Faith, and I found this other clip where this pastor literally spoke about something that Trump did, check out When you
don't read and pray, you say, wow, there's a Bible out now that includes the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Isn't that wonderful? No, no, it's disgusting.
Yes.
It's blasphemous.
Thank you.
It's a ploy. Are you kidding me? Some of you are so encouraged by that. Let me tell you something. The gospel is not an American gospel. It is the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. That's part. But Pastor, I bought the Bible. Really? You're telling me that you're encouraged because someone took a government, U.S. Constitution, a document that says we are of the people, by the people, and for the people. The people, the people, the people. And you have put it right beside the word of God, which is eternal, unchanging, which says of him, by him, through him, to him, from him are all things. And you're going to put those together and be happy About it? God forbid. Now, you can get mad if you want to, and they will, but I'm going to tell you something. If you glory in that kind of thing, you don't have a prayer life. If you glory in that kind of mess, political mess, you do not know what the word of God says.
So here's the thing. If you're someone who felt drawn to Trump's message, then it's It's a pretty good guess that there's some area in your life where you're struggling with pride. And I'm not going to get into how pride shows up. You can check out this video right here where I actually mention how and why people can deceive you due to pride. Like that pastor said, it is blasphemous and it's idolatry. Sound like I said eye-dollar-tree, but idolatry. That's what it is. I'm going to digress on that right now though. Okay? Because that's not why we here. I just had to share that. Let's define trauma. Trauma is a pervasive problem. It results from exposure to an incident or series of events that are emotionally disturbing or life-threatening, lasting adverse effect on the individual's functioning, mental, physical, social, emotional, and/or spiritual well-being. So most people think that trauma comes from like abuse, neglect, like extreme cases of childhood abuse. However, what people don't talk about enough are the other ways that trauma is forced upon you. Racism, discrimination, white supremacy, war, things like school shootings. Pretty much if you're an American, you've experienced trauma no matter what side you're on, which is why I always say America has never been great. That is a lie perpetuated by the white supremacists to gaslight us who are on the receiving end of their hatred. Digressing again. So one of the ways that trauma affects us greatly is by keeping us disconnected from ourselves. And I spoke about briefly how if you identified and related to a man's message who is clearly not here to love people, then there's a huge sign that you may be disconnected from yourself. So here are the 4 ways that you can be disconnected from yourself and a quick way to reconnect with yourself. The first way is depression. So I was diagnosed as a child with major depressive disorder. As a child, y'all. So that goes to show you how much trauma I had endured as a child already. Before I was 7, I believe I was diagnosed. So depression, when, when it happens, what's happening is you're repressing all of these feelings and stuff, and you're not able to express like anger and rage. Because I remember I was never really able to express that around my family. And so what do you do with that if you can't express it? Well, you're repressing. And so that turns into actual depression. So you're disconnected from yourself because you're not able to experience your full range of emotion. Okay, so that's one way. Second way is anxiety. Now anxiety is like this fear of the future, things possibly happening. You, you can never really be settled, and you may have trouble sleeping and anxiety. Third way, resentment. So people pleasing— people please enough, guess what's going to happen? Resentment is going to be knocking on the door like, I can't believe you did that for that person. They don't even appreciate you. Look what they doing. So resentment comes because you're disconnected from yourself. So what I usually do is I always ask myself, if I do this thing for this person, they never say thank you, they never do anything for me in return, would I still do it? If the answer is no, guess what I don't do? I don't do that thing so that I don't get resentful. And the final sign is envy. You find yourself being envious of someone or something that they have, it's a huge sign that you're not showing up fully as yourself. And because of that, now you are— you see somebody else who is showing up a little more full, and so now you're envious of what they're doing when you could just do it yourself. So bonus, here's an easy way to reconnect with yourself. Anytime I feel disconnected from myself, I get quiet and allow my pen to get loud. Each of us has at least one gift that God has given us, and a way to reconnect with ourselves is to actually use the gift. Me being a writer and speaker, I use my pen as a gift to the world. I write and I say, these are my thoughts. Sometimes they're not coherent, so I flesh them out and then voilà, create things like videos like this and put it out into the world. So the next time you feel any of these signs that you're disconnected from yourself, reconnect with the gift that God has given you and put it out into the world.
